We went for my birthday lunch. We couldn't fault the service. Very patient! With 12 of us it's not easy! The food we had a mixture of Sunday roast and veggie choices. All excellent quality and all brought out together and hot. Really good meats and accompaniments served by friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Thank you for making my day special!

This appeared to be the only café open in Calstock when we went, so it’s not much to say it was the best cafe in Calstock, but it probably is …. Warm welcome, great coffee, extremely clean toilets (not often mentioned but hugely welcomed), tasty snacks! Highly recommended Thank You!

We stayed for a long weekend at the Edgecumbe Arms and it is now at the top of our list for a short getaway. The pub is in a unique location on the edge of Mount Edgecumbe park where the river Tamar meets the sea. This gives you access to the coast, the riverside and the countryside, all from one place. In addition, the attractions in Plymouth are only a short ferry ride away. We enjoyed costal walks, river trips and a walk around the shops and cafes in the Royal William Dockyard. Wherever we went the place was beautiful and steeped in history. There was so much to do that a weekend is definitely not enough to explore all that the area has to offer. We booked a riverside room in the pub and it did not disappoint. Spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard, the room had everything we needed to be comfortable and more. In addition, Dan and his team did their best to look after us and nothing was too much trouble. During our stay, we became fascinated with the river and the comings and goings of the ships, boats and ferries. In addition, we spent time watching the wildlife on the river, and even looked out of the window to see a seal one morning. We ate in the pub both nights of our stay and were impressed with the food. The fresh mackerel was a particular favourite. In addition, there was a good choice at breakfast. The breakfast was cooked to order and arrived in plentiful quantities. There has been a pub on the site of the Edgecumbe Arms for centuries, and with its fascinating location and warm hospitality, we can see why people would want to stay there for a long time to come. We will certainly be back.

On the back of previous reviews we gave the Boot Inn a try and so, so glad we did. Arrived early evening and felt really at home, with a friendly barman and locals making us welcome, with good conversation, a proper old English pub at its best….good local ale and quality red wine. To cap it all the food exceeding all expectations. We enjoyed the baked Camembert and pâté to start and we both had the ribeye steak for main with beautiful sweet tomatoes, mushroom and wicked homemade chips. We also had both homemade sauces, one peppercorn, the other Stilton. OMG…they were exceptional and I’m prone to be critical so that is real praise. We will definitely return when we next visit the area. It wasn’t cheap but was real value in a world where all too often you are left feeling disappointed. 10/10 ….keep up the great work

This is a lovely little pub with a big open fire. The landlady is very friendly. There is a village market held here on the second Saturday of every month and there is karaoke every first Saturday of the month with a very friendly atmosphere
