Grubby! Salt and pepper pots needed a good clean, tray drinks were served on was dirty. Staff were not invested in the customer experience; not very welcoming and music was overpowering, it seemed to be on just for the staff. Radiator badly positioned right next to seating, lots of clutter around. The sausage rolls and pasties looked very anaemic yet carried a hefty price, not home cooked. Not recommended.

I can't understand the recent negative reviews for this place. We've eaten here twice this week and both times we've been very happy with the food, service and ambience. We've also tried a nearby hotel/pub/restaurant and found it to be wanting. There's no need to book as there are always tables available. Sometimes the bar is busy but the staff are friendly and efficient. There's a huge choice of beers available and they even do quality wines by the glass. So often the best wines are only available by the bottle but not here. Yes, they only take payment by card but I don't think there are many folk in the UK who would struggle to pay that way.

Popped here mid walk with the family. We had 2 fantastic “light” fish and chips. Which at £13 is the same as the chip chop. Big fresh fish, hot and crispy batter (not oily) and a big plate of real potato chunky chips. Kids meals were a great size (big enough for a young teenagers) fish for the boy and chicken goujons for the girls. Both ate the lot and it was very good value (also the option of chips or fries for the meals). Nice staff and relaxed comfortable vibes. Would definitely go again. I have no idea what the bad reviews are about the people posted. Also good Lilly’s coffee and the pot of tea was massive with 2 tea bags so happy to sit and chill.

I have wanted to visit Bluebird at Coniston since the story evolved and restoration complete - tick - amazing . I then wanted a steak. Being honest, we tried a number of other places first ( we don’t know the area so just did in order of finding no other reason !) but eventually walked into here. So first impressions, really good. Lad serving and welcoming people in was down to earth and brilliant. Ordered sensibly priced drinks and then food. Sane chap served us throughout. I’m a fussy steak eater - it was brilliant, well presented and perfectly cooked. My son had the pie and it was too notch. Absolutely a gem of a place that we will come back to. I cannot recommend the service of our waiter highly enough - impeccable and a credit to the trade and those who employ you . I did provide the feedback there and then and an absolute shame we don’t carry cash to tip personally . Try this place you will not be disappointed especially if you have a furry friend with you. Thank you 👍

We stayed at this hotel and ate here on our first night. It was for our anniversary. I waited 10 min at the bar to get shown to our table. I was pretty dissapoonted there was no table service and had to order at the bar. There wasn't enough staff and had to wait an age to actually order. I'm not sure if the lady behind the bar was new or not but she couldn't add our meal onto an open tab to pay at the end. She said they didn't do this but another staff member showed her how. She forgot our drinks after ordering despite reminding her twice. The starters where very tasty and after they finished I ordered some drinks at the table. Again I couldn't do this andbwas told to que at the bar to get more. They have an app to order to your table outside but not inside. When I asked could I use it Inside she told me it doesn't really work and not to chance it. Our steaks arrived and we're very tasty but so so small for the high prices. Again had to go back to order desert and more drinks. This time the barman poured me the wrong wine twice! I even bought the menu to him and said what I wanted. A white Canyon pinot grigio but he kept bringing me rose saying they didn't do Canyon pinot despite drinking it earlier. He then said "here just give her this" and gave me a wine glass full of water and said "she can pour it over your head"!!! What a rubbish experience it was for our anniversary meal. And so dam pricey with a beer and wine costing over £16. Our drinks glasses where never collected from our table and the whole reseraunt and outdoor area was littered with them. We will deffinetly be eating elsewhere on our trip. I wonder if breakfast will be so unorganised?
