We booked ahead and didn’t even need to introduce ourselves as the lovely waiter knew who we were from the requests we’d made. The waiter and waitress (sorry, I didn’t get names, but should have!) looked after me and the two children I was with like we were family, which as I was travelling on my own was a welcome relief. The food was wonderful and some of the best Mexican I’ve had outside of California. They have a huge Margarita menu I look forward to making my way through when I’m next in town and don’t have the kids with me!

Low season in windermere and I was struggling to find a reasonably priced lunch option. I also wanted a non meat option. I took a chance on this place since it is no. 1 in the ratings. Generally i’ve not liked burritos much in the past. It was a really great place: very nice staff, lovely food and a good vibe. I will return.

Not been here for years and amazed it was still owned by the same people. My wife and I had a fabulous meal service was great and quality as good as ever. Well done all at the Well Springs. Thank you. Pete

Not sure what happened to Once Was Lost! We went last year (summer 2022) with friends and had really great and tasty tacos outside. The atmosphere was busy and fun, staff were attentive. However, visiting in February 2023 and it was a completely different feel. Staff did not greet us when we entered or give us any clue they knew we were there. We asked if they had a table and they disappeared to prep a table. After sitting down we were given a menu and apparently they only do pizzas now? Not sure why they’ve had a menu revamp as the tacos were fantastic and unique. Ordered drinks but the coke tasted more of the soda mixer. We ordered 2 garlic breads which came out at different times and when pizzas came they had got the toppings wrong on 2 pizzas. We made do as we were in a rush. The pizzas were tasty and straight from the oven. They did have a very charred/burned taste and also came out at different times to one another. Staff felt inexperienced. Simple customer service things were not done but they were not rude. Staff were friendly. Pricing seemed fair.

Stopped by today and had such a good experience. Charae and Grace were really friendly and made me feel welcome straight away. The service was great, and the food (chicken and beef burrito and chicken gyozas) were top quality—fresh, tasty, and clearly made with care. Definitely recommend checking them out if you’re around!

I had a wonderful experience at Amigos! I absolutely loved the option to preorder (which I normally wouldn’t like), which not only helped minimize food waste, keep prices lower but also ensured a fresh, extremely tasty and well-prepared meal. The margaritas were dangerously delicious, and I couldn’t resist indulging in more than one! Another highlight was the way they thoughtfully packaged leftovers—perfect for enjoying later. I also really appreciated that Amigos primarily accommodates pre-booked guests, maintaining their commitment to quality over mass production- so book . This approach not only guarantees well-cooked food but also prevents unnecessary waste, keeping prices fair without compromising on values. It’s refreshing to see a restaurant that prioritizes sustainability and customer experience over pure profit. Highly recommend for anyone who values great food, great drinks, and a restaurant with real integrity!

I’m sorry, but this has to be the worst food I’ve ever eaten — never mind it being fine dining. I’m not sure if the chef was tasting the food before it was sent out, but the overwhelming flavours across all dishes were lime, chilli, and salt. Everything was so acidic or vinegary, and all eight dishes we tried tasted virtually the same. With this type of dining experience, each dish should have its own unique flavour that complements the ingredients. We ate as much as we could — we’re not usually ones to complain — and since it was my 30th birthday, we were trying to make the most of the night. Plus, given the cost, we were trying to convince ourselves it was good. But by the end of the meal, we both felt unwell. When the final dish came out (a risotto), and again it tasted like a bowl of vinegar and lime, we just burst out laughing. That was the final straw. We had to send it back, as it was literally inedible. For the price, we were expecting a truly flavoursome experience with high-quality ingredients, but it seems the chef only works with three flavours. The duck was dry and sparse, covered in soggy, acidic leaves. The risotto was watery and acidic. The tacos were acidic and underwhelming. The squid was beyond dry and completely flavourless. The other dishes were okay but still far too acidic. That said, the complimentary dessert was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff were very helpful when we returned the risotto. The venue itself is beautiful. However, the DJ's music was way too loud for a restaurant. While it’s a novel idea, it just doesn’t work in a dining setting — it made conversation difficult and likely causes more frustration than enjoyment. It’s disappointing to see reviews similar to ours dating back over five years, which suggests that customer feedback hasn’t been taken seriously. For the price, the food really needs a complete review. We’re big foodies and love trying new experiences — from fine dining to tasting menus, à la carte, and Michelin-starred venues. Sadly, this is the first one we’ve ever walked away from not enjoying at all. The food was nowhere near the standard we’ve come to expect from fine dining, both in flavour and in quality. Not a single dish stood out — or was even good. Very disappointing.
