Death By Tacos in Cheshire West and Chester

Enjoyed an outstanding meal today. The beautiful calamari was a definite highlight & I also really enjoyed the fish tacos. Shared some very tasty chorizo nachos as well. To be honest though, anything off the menu would have probably been delicious and I can't wait to go back again. They vary their menus often which is great & there's a consistent quality across the board. Friendly service & absolutely killer music 🤘

Great food, we had a selection of tacos, wings and loaded chips. Service was quick, food comes out as its ready so suits sharing. Good drink selection, loads of cocktails and zero alcohol options. We didn't feel rushed, it can be very busy it was full as we left but a short wait is well worth it.

Amazing food and drinks! As it was a Tuesday there was a two tacos for £15 and £7 margs deal on, had the birra and Mexican chorizo bloody banging!!!! Also ordered wings and again can’t fault them. Staff member took our order quickly and kept us topped up with drinks. Will visit again! Side note, visited off the back of a recommendation from LDK in Stoke which is another little gem!

Food Review: Wings and Creed – A Perfect Harmony If you’re craving mouthwatering chicken wings with a side of epic nostalgia, look no further. These wings were absolutely next-level—crispy, juicy, and drenched in a perfectly balanced sauce that packed just the right amount of heat and flavor. Every bite was pure bliss. But what truly made this experience unforgettable was the soundtrack. As Creed’s “One Last Breath” played in the background, the soulful vocals and powerful guitar riffs created an atmosphere that was both intense and oddly soothing. With every bite, Scott Stapp’s voice seemed to echo through the room, elevating the entire dining experience to legendary status. Incredible wings and Creed’s emotional rock ballads? An unbeatable combo. Highly recommend! Staff were Mega aswell.

Visited on a busy Thursday night. Ordered the single beef birria taco (one each) honey butter wings and the birria loaded fries. Food was lovely and filling. Meat is so tender. The fries especially were delicious. . Only complaint is the communal dining. We managed to get a table but just before our food came other diners were seated on our table which was awkward. It may suit some but not for me. I will say a table just for two came available so we moved so all was good!

Came here with high expectations after drooling over images of the food online for weeks 🤩 We weren't disappointed and left stuffed. We came for taco Tuesday and chose to get the beef birria tacos, the quality of the meat was stunning for the price and they tasted fresh! The sauce was to die for and there wasn't any ladylike way to eat it, absolutely worth the mess. We had fries as a side and they were perfectly crisp and the seasoning was lush. The pardron peppers were the part I was looking forward too as someone who adores veg and they were amazing, sweet and salty 🤩 We also had the Chiccharone (pardon the spelling) Pork belly this was the part my fella was excited for and it is quite possibly the best pork belly I've had it just melted 🤤 He had modelo ( Spanish bottled lager) and I had hooch both refreshing drinks they have a large selection of wines and a collection of cocktails made in house. The decor was a vibe and I'm debating changing the handles in my house to skateboard trucks 🤣 Staff were legends and we were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in, we arrived at 8pm and they were fairly busy, food arrived in good time hot and fresh! Will be back soon !!!❣️💫

Food was excellent, some of the food was better than I had in Mexico! Only one niggle I had was we didn't feel comfortable staying long we felt a tiny bit rushed that's all. But if you are looking for really and I mean really good tacos look no further.

Heard that travelling long distances meant you couldn’t get a seat. Travelled from Middlesbrough to visit DBT again and had to wait 2 whole minutes for a seat. I managed to console myself by playing arcade games. Food (beef birria and fish tacos) were amazing. Enjoyed a margarita and excellent service. Would recommend travelling to eat at DBT.

So so good. I used to go here all the time when I worked in Chester and DBT was in the old market. I drove over 40 miles today to be told they're at capacity. I said ‘don't worry, I'm after taking it away’, again only to be told they don't do takeaway on weekends. I explained I had driven the distance I had, just to come here and take my dog to the fabled taco place I'd raved about all these years, only to be told they don't do takeaways on weekends, which I’d already been told once but must have experienced temporary deafness from the stress of my long drive. Thankfully though, as an alternative, I stood in the queue and waited politely like everybody else has to. Success seems to have instilled a sense of arrogance in returning customers which has put me off ever visiting Newton Le Willows.

Come here every time we're in Chester and it never disappoints! It's a little place with a big menu which gives me a new favourite dish each visit. Staff are so knowledgeable and I'm Coeliac so the waitress last time was fantastic showing me the new options. Margaritas are a must!! Playlists on point

Updating my review due to my first review being 4 years old and when they were based in the market. Old review still at bottom of post What to say about Death by Tacos? It's my favourite place to go in all of Chester. The food is just amazing with an ever changing menu. The cocktails are great too but can't beat a Marg! Always offers happening during the week so you can always snag a bargain. Post from 2021: Super friendly staff, incredible food. Very interesting decor and books to read and the music is fab! Wish I could eat there every day

Always 10/10. I live in Chester, however if I lived 40 miles away, I would still travel and happily wait in the queue for a table, 100% worth it.

Thankfully though, as an alternative I went to Lola's in the market, much nicer mexican food and much better customer service. Success seems to have instilled an arrogance at DBT which has put me off ever returning.

Currently eating in KFC down the road. Needed to fill the empty stomach and the £45 hole left. Seen this place posted all over different social media apps and it looked awesome. Me and my partner looked rather confused when they brought over my £9 singular small Taco. I understood it was one serving but good gracious this “Birria Taco” was tiny. My partner ordered the Chicken Tacos and described it as low quality chicken and again overpriced. 3 small tacos and 2 portions of wings accumulated to £45. Not allowed to book a table (refer to their website, no bookings, walk in only) upon arrival got told to share a table with already eating customers or “come back half an hour later”. But yeah currently in eating in KFC.

This place absolutely exceeded my expectations! A go-to place in Chester if you fancy Tacos/Wings/Nachos. Was super busy the entire time wecwere there, which is a testament to how great this place is Food - The wings were juicy, birria tacos to die for, and the perfect queso nachos. Service - Despite how busy it was we were well looked after and checked on. The staff really care which shows in the food and service! Flawless Atmosphere - It can be quite tight and very busy but was not a problem for us at all! Also bonus points for having Starship Troopers on the small bar TV and WWE on the projector!! 12/10, if we ever come back to Chester will hit this place up for definite!!!

Amazing tacos ! Amazing atmosphere with good rock playing. Very clean, staff were very friendly and service was very quick. The Birria tacos can’t be missed ! Definitely recommend.

We waited about 10 minutes for a table and it was absolutely worth it. We had drinks at the bar whilst we waited also. The food comes fresh and fast, and everything tasted amazing. The peppers were a stand out favourite for both of us. Highly recommend and will definitely be going again.

Delicious food, a bit on the expensive side but worth it for the unique branding, atmosphere and depth of flavour in the food. Vibe was really cool, with interesting decor and metal music playing the whole time (though the music was quite loud, so if that sort of thing bothers you, maybe don’t go). Would definitely come again and eat those chorizo tacos for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Fab service, amazing food. Was really looking forward to trying and it did not disappoint! We had some loaded fries, as well as grilled chicken tacos and Mexican chorizo tacos. Lovely drinks too. We will definitely be back!

I'm so devastated that I don't live near Chester to frequent this place as it is absolutely my vibe! Firstly, the decor and the music were a bit of me! I felt like somebody found my mp3 player from 2006 and put it through the speakers and sprinkled in some of my Spotify top artists. The staff were all really down to earth and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The cocktails were delicious, and I was over the moon to see I could have a spicy margarita, my favourite! The vegan options were incredible. I was torn between my taco options as they all sounded delicious. I opted for the tempura tenderstem broccoli tacos, and they were to die for. I had the corn ribs on the side, which were naughty but delicious. However, I don't recommend for a first date as there is no dignified way to eat what I had because everything was so juicy and messy 🤣 This place made my alt-kid/elder emo heart and tummy very happy.

Staff were great, awesome atmosphere and really like the concept of the place. Has grown on me more over time and I think the food is fantastic though portions slightly on the small side for the price point.

The food was awesome, I had the beef taco and I want to go back to have it again already. The service was really friendly and the music was our kind of atmosphere. Went there with our 5 year old daughter and she loved it, although she just stared at spongebob squarepants on the TV without any sound the whole time...

Absolutely phenomenal food. Best wings we've ever had, fast service, delicious tacos and such a cool environment. Super friendly and accommodating for our baby even though they've clearly never had to get the high chair out before. Gutted we don't live near Chester as we would frequent this place a lot.

Walked in on a Sunday lunchtime looking for somewhere casual and different to try. Really enjoyed what we had. Everything was freshly prepared and the service was great. Had the chicken and fish tacos, fries and nachos. Would definitely recommend and happily return.

I was once a massive fan but unfortunately over the past year the food has been disappointing. Recently I visited and had the carne asada, beef birria tacos and padron peppers, but they all lacked flavour and we're extremely oily, covering the tray in oil. When the menu had the carne asada tacos with the tomatillo salsa they were extremely tasty and tender, but the same can't be said anymore unfortunately. I hope it gets back to how it was when they first moved to where they are now because it used to be amazing. However, it isn't all bad, staff are great and really friendly with a great atmosphere, just the food which is lacking a lot.

Death by Taco was highly recommended to us and it was everything we thought and hoped it would be. The food was outstanding. So tasty. As for the cocktails they hit the spot too. I had the mango margarita with salt and chilli around the glass, it was to die for. Thank you for finding space for us on a busy night.

We managed to squeeze in on Friday evening as I've been wanting to visit for some time! Dog friendly! Had amazing food; birra tacos, beef nachos, beef dirty fries washed down with a mango margarita!

Went here for dinner. Great selection of drinks, the decor was on point. The food was absolutely lovely. Staff were fantastic and seemed to enjoy working there. Excellent atmosphere. Regrettably, I devoured the food too quickly to get any photos but try the Mango Magarita. Will definitely be coming back!

Had lunch here and it was fantastic! The tacos were full of flavour and packed with meat! The birria beef tacos were the star of the show, definitely get these if your visiting!

We went here a few weeks back after seeing multiple videos and posts online about the phat platters. I couldn’t wait to try it out myself. The food was absolutely incredible and the flavours were amazing!! We tried the Birria tacos and one of the phat platters and I’m already craving them again! The service was great and the staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend it here!

We’ve been wanting to eat her for SO long but we’re three hours away. The best tacos we’ve ever had 🌮 My partner had the beef birria and I had the vegetarian white bean tacos and they were incredible. Great portion sizes, freshly made and delicious. The waiter who served us was amazing too. I asked him about an alcohol I didn’t recognise on the menu, he described it to me and discussed the difference between that rum and other white rums which was really interesting.

Just been here, been looking at it for months knowing we were spending the weekend in Chester. The place is incredible, everything from the food, the drinks, the service and atmosphere is just amazing. Everything I love rolled into one. So unique and easily the best place in Chester. P.S the memes in the men’s toilets had me howling!

Food was not up to standard I expected beef tacos not just salty but you would have been better eating salt. I told staff and reply was well it is beef stock and that's salty I will tell the chef Totally unacceptable from lack lustre staff I wouldn't recommend to any one Management of premises welcome to contact me at anytime Totally dissatisfied

I had the beef tacos and they were delicious. They arrived after 5 minutes. The other members of the party’s arrived after 15 minutes of ordering, in which they ordered the deep fried pork belly. The table was a barrel which was very uncomfortable to sit at, however that’s the only negative about the experience. Would recommend and go again!

We loved going to Death by Taco's in its original venue (the old market) but unfortunately as other reviews have mentioned, is seems to have gone down hill since moving. Our last couple of meals there haven't been good at all, our most recent was particularly disappointing, the tacos literally came within a minute of us ordering, they were cold and had the texture of carboard, it felt like they'd been pre-made and left out. The tacos from Chiquito's are better and that's saying something! It's a shame as this place used to be good but we wont be going back until it improves.

One of the best dining experiences. The atmosphere is very unique and lived the skateboards and stickers all over. The menu had a good choice. Attempted the chicken and beef tacos along with butter chicken wings and nachos with guacamole. All the dishes were amazing and the stomachs were more than full. The staff is super friendly and we had a pleasant lunch. If it’s a busy time you might have to wait a while as there’s limited space therefore, a booking is recommended, specially on Sundays.

Been wanting to come along for quite a while, and I decided to come in yesterday for a meal with a friend. We ordered the chicken tacos, birria, veggie nachos, the carne fries, along with two of the frozen cocktails (strawb daquiri and pina colada). The atmosphere and service were good but the food sadly let down. The Birria was greasy (which I get to an extent) but it was to an extent where it notably detracted from the meal as all you could really taste was the oiliness. Whilst the chicken was nicer it wasn't the most flavourful. The nachos were tasty but the carne fries were the biggest letdown. Chewiest steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Tried to get through two pieces and had to spit both out as they were far too chewy (not sure if this was the cut of meat, the thickness of the cut, or if it was cut with the grain) but it left me very disappointed. The cocktails were nice but the pina colada blew the daquiri out the water. Open to coming back again given how great the atmosphere was, along with the good service, but the food sadly wasn't up to scratch (especially at £12 for two Birria tacos).

Planned to visit and so glad we did! The atmosphere is a 10/10. We tried the beef tacos, chicken tacos and the steak fries. So much flavour, the beef tacos were great and the chicken tacos felt nice and refreshing. The steak was cooked perfectly on the fries! My partner said the margaritas were great. Will definitely be back to give other items a try! If you like a relaxed, good music atmosphere with good food, quick service then this is definitely worth a visit!

Visited on our trip to Chester and it did not disappoint. It was busy on Wednesday evening and that is because the food and drinks are epic. I ordered a class margarita which was delicious we ordered had two tacos each and the padron peppers and left full! Portions are great and I do want to shout out the sweet potato taco which was absolutely amazing!

Called in on a whim with my partner, we were seated very quickly, the guy serving us was great and the food was very quick but sadly the beef tacos were super greasy and the cheese was burned so I only managed a single bite. My partners fish tacos were much nicer but still not great. They did take the beef tacos off the bill which was appreciated. The atmosphere was fantastic at least. Hoping it was just an unlucky experience and would probably give them another try if I visit Chester again.

Ate here today with a mate from work. Soundtrack banging, pork with pineapple ketchup was out of this world, wings were pure finger licking, birria tacos were immense. Sound lads serving, can't fault it. Back soon!

Best tacos in Chester would 100% recommend

These tacos genuinely haunt me in my dreams. They are the best tacos I have ever had in my life. All the food here is incredible we drive from Birmingham for it. Best food ever 😋 cocktails are fantastic too as are the wings. Nothing on this menu is bad basically you cannot go wrong. Carne asada tacos are the bestttttt.

Food was fast coming out, however this is not a traditional taco establishment, I ordered beef tacos, it came with far too much cheese (not a sprickling like I was expecting) which laid heavily in my stomach, the cheese (which I belive was nacho cheese from a ready made container) and I left the restaurant needing to take a antihistamine. Am allergic to fish so either they have not got a purple allergy board (by law i think they need one) or it was something else effecting me. This place needs to use a better cheeses, put seasoning on their steaks (or leave a selection on the table)

Walk ins only swiftly shown to a table no waiting. This place has such a quick turnover, staff are great! Food really tasty and great price! Only thing that let it down was our steak and chips was absolutely smothered with far too much chim churri literally smothered kind of ruined the meal. Also the venues choice of music would not be too everyone's taste. Rock/metal.

So we went there excited about Tacos. We left there bitterly disappointed - stale taco breads, dry/burnt toppings or over dauced to disguise poor quality product, servers unfriendly - probably too cool for school - only reason service is 2 star instead of 1 is the food was served fast - which to me means that the toppings are reheated on order - rather than fresh / Chester has some amazing places to eat this isnt one!

Absolutely superb scran. The guys there know how to make great flavour combos. We had the special which was chorizo and pork belly, and a beef birria. Both were exceptional, and you wouldn’t be disappointed if you went!

We went here on a Wednesday evening. We were seated quickly and they took our order quickly. There were 2 of us and we ordered the Valentina Honey Butter wings, the Chicken Macha tacos and the plain fries. On a Wednesday night, there is a special offer with the wings. Each dish arrived as it was ready rather than all together but that didn't bother us. Everything was delicious. We werent expecting much from the "plain fries" but they were anything but plain. The seasoning on them made them moreish. We really enjoyed both the food and the restaurant vibe. We're not from Chester but would definitely recommend and will return on our next Chester visit.

Been a couple of times but noted they like to push political views on customers i.e F the tories. Trying to be all hip and cool for the youngsters who know nothing about politics. Just totally unnecessary and pushing customers away. Also fairly small portions for price you pay.
