I didn't dine in so this review is about a takeaway. Odd times I like to treat myself and I've been to the Shajan restaurant since the very early days when it was little more than a bungalow with my late wife. So being of an age where sometimes things are difficult I decided on a takeaway and ordered a takeaway I have had before, Lamb Sal Boti. When i got it home it looked awful and when I tasted it, it was. Half of it went in the bin, the sauce was watery and there was one large chunk of lamb in the middle plus other smaller lumps. After years of dining and takeaways at the Shajan will I go again? It will take a long time to think about it.

We had to sit in the entrance to order a drink and look at the menu while they got our table ready, the restaurant was almost empty. Once ordered they took us to our table. The food was pretty tasteless and not very warm. Once we had finished our meal, they brought over a complimentary drink, which made us feel they wanted us to leave. No offer of dessert or even coffee. We will not return.

We called in quite early on our way to a concert at the Grand Theatre and were not disappointed! We were given a warm welcome and prompt, friendly service. The food was fresh and tasty, with some unusual items on the menu which we were pleased to sample. By the time we left, every table was taken and there was a lovely busy atmosphere. We’ll certainly be visiting again next time we’re in Clitheroe.

The Trishna restaurant has been open for quite a long time now. If I am being absolutely honest I never used to be a fan of their food. Recently however it seems it has undergone massive change. The food now is truly a match for any Indian you could name - that includes the well known Shajan on Longsight road
