The Trishna restaurant has been open for quite a long time now. If I am being absolutely honest I never used to be a fan of their food. Recently however it seems it has undergone massive change. The food now is truly a match for any Indian you could name - that includes the well known Shajan on Longsight road

We went to the trishna restaurant in Whalley on Saturday and the staff were very friendly and also recommended dishes for us to try. We pre booked a table but as we had more people coming than expected we informed them and they adjusted our seating arrangement straight away. The food was also amazing and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service We then went to the takeaway today, Me and my partner, just ordered a curry and was also recommended to try their new pizzas and we were both very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be ordering from here again.

Me and my mother went to this restaurant last night, and the service was appalling! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. we have been here a few times before and never had any issues, however we went into the restaurant last night and felt an unwelcomed atmosphere. One of the staff members did not speak any English what so ever, he was walking round with pure attitude! We tried to ask for some boxes to take some food home with us and they were just thrown on our table and they did not listen to us as to how many we wanted they then tried to charge us for the foil boxes (as the ones they originally gave us caused our curries to leak everywhere!) when we asked for this to be exchanged they gave us a smug and snarky look, the little one was almost laughing. When we walked out they slammed the doors behind us, we were not rude in anyway and we will never be coming back to this restaurant despite us being here a few times before! The food was OK, but the service was appalling. My mother also had a very bad stomach after eating here and we have both been going to Indians for over 20 years and never experienced this! Looks like it has new staff or under different management from last time but AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! RUDE UNWELCOMING AND OUT RIGHT NASTY people working here!!

We ordered a takeaway for 5 people and found it first off to be on the expensive side totalling just short of £120! When the food arrived we found one meal to be missing. We rang the restaurant and first of all they told us to thoroughly check (not that we hadn't obviously done this prior to ringing!). When I confirmed this item was missing their response was "we are closing soon and the delivery man has left so we can't provide it however, if you send some bank details to a number they provided, they would refund the amount for the curry (hardly compensation for ruining someone's meal and spoiling the evening). We then sent the bank details and received nk response. We then contacted them further and are yet to receive a response or a refund. Besides this, the food certainly wasn't worth the price! It was average food and the choices we ordered (chicken option) were more filled with onions than actual meat and the naan breads and onion bhajis were very dry. Overall a huge disappointment sadly.

Absolutely repulsive . Awful food and the staff were even worse. The man that runs it clearly has mental health issues - he abused me and my friend because we complained about the food. I have no idea how this place is still open , it’s disgusting . Clearly people just go in after a few beers and tolerate the food because they can’t be bothered going anywhere else .

Ordered another wine. Food was not really edible. Rice gloopy. Practically no chicken in Biriani. My meal all tasted same despite being a tray. Eventually we left paid £95 and left £5 tip. Crap

Staying on a wee holiday near the restaurant so went in for a takeaway. All points are really as the place was welcoming; looked clean & comfy; and the staff were just lovely genuine people. Chapatis were okay. Rice was fine. The 2 meals both lacked flavour and heat. I aldo couldn't taste any chilli in mine at all unfortunately. I've eaten worse things, but I can make much better curries myself to be honest: & I'm no cook 😀

I read some of the reviews here and it becomes clear that a lot of the criticism has come from people who can’t take criticism themselves. The lads at Trishna are all firm but fair and take a no nonsense approach to business. Sometimes people of a more headstrong nature see this as a challenge but I’ve known Dillon and the lads long enough to know they are a lovely family who would do anything for their customers provided they are treated with respect and dignity. That is not much to ask of at all therefore I regard the more negative reviews with regards to service nonsense. I can vouch for my local Indian! With regards to the BBC lady. We all had a good laugh about her and her outlandish claims. Mrs Walter Mitty anyway superb meal as always lads, see you next week.

My son and I ordered 2 meals for takeaway. We went to pick it up, and had a beer whilst waiting. We paid £27.60. We thought it was expensive, but hoped the meals would make up for it! How WRONG we were... jeez The chicken in my dish was chewy and bland! No flavour at all.. and neither meals were as described on the menu. My sons dish had no scotch bonnet chillies which he was expecting as it had a particular mention on the menu. (He likes a hot curry) We has ordered 2 pilau rice but got one boiled and one insipid yellow colour, which I can only assume was their interpretation of pilau rice? There were no free popadoms or chutneys as is usually the case these days? And, when we checked the menu we had been overcharged by more than £3? Plus we had been charged for 2 pilau rice, when there was only one and one boiled? So I contacted Trishna by messenger on Facebook rather than go back down on a busy Friday night, to save embarrassment for them in front of their customers. I asked for my money back as the meal was substandard and we had been over-charged to boot! It would be easy just to transfer the money back into my sons account as he had paid by card. Of course they refused. And after repeated requests for my money back, they still refuse to budge. So this week I am going to Trading Standards office to complain, and I honestly feel like writing to BBC Watchdog/Rip Off Britain! Grrrrr this has made me so angry. Imagine how many people they do this to on a regular basis? I know it’s not a great deal of money.. but it all adds up and they must make a fortune by adding a few pounds here and there to what is already overpriced and substandard! I recommend that you avoid this place and find an alternative eating establishment. I only wish I had done!

We went for the early bird special and expected smaller portions but what we got was four 10p sizes pieces of chicken in a watered- down soup which honestly looked and tasted like a cheap jar of sauce that had oodles of water added and no curry spices in it - just a lot of sugar . The 'pilau rice' was akin to boil in the bag but with less flavour. It might have had a touch of yellow food colouring added to it but that was all . None of the staff came anywhere near us to ask if our meal was ok ,now we know that's because they knew what the answer would be . I queried the lack of spices with the waiter who brought our bill and he assured me quite rudely that pilau rice should not contain any spices ! Presumably the name pilau means water !

I visited Trishna this week and we were greeted by very friendly staff. We were seen immediately and were offered a huge selection of premium drinks from several lagers on draught to many wines and spirits. Being an avid gin drinker I was pleasantly surprised at the very large selection they offered me. Shortly after ordering we were taken to our table and after a very short wait our starters arrived. I had lamb tikka jai puri, and the lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I have never had a lamb dish that was this well cooked as well as being incredibly well spiced and flavoursome. After our starters were polished off our mains came, I had the tandoori mixed grill, the meat was all succulent and incredibly tasty, the portion size was almost too big but it was so delicious I finished the entire portion. If I had one gripe it’s that the toilets could stand to be a bit bigger. However this does not ditract from the great service, fantastic atmosphere, wide drink selection and delicious food at the restaurant.

I have previously eaten in the restaurant and found the food to be ok, nothing unique yet nothing bad. This was a while ago and I decided to order a takeaway just recently. The restaurant was quiet yet my food was nearly an hour later than agreed and when I complained about the wait time the waiter said ‘sh&& happens’. I asked if he thought it was acceptable to speak to any customer like this and he then said ‘yes cos you won’t be coming back’. He got that bit right. Very rude and he was being watched by a colleague who must have thought the same. I still waited for the food and to be fair it was ok, but I would say there are many Indian takeaways that have better food, prices and service. I can only assume it has customers due to location and convenience. Restaurants need to understand that service means everything and people will forgive a bad meal and return if they are treated well and assured.

Everything about the Trishna in Whalley is right. From taking the booking, to seating you on time at nicely separated tables, with freshly laundered linen and napkins, a great choice of wonderfully tasty food, a wide assortment of drinks. The service is attentive but never intrusive, and suitably paced. All of this, EVERY time we come here.....and for a very modest bill. I cannot recommend the Trishna enough. On a bank holiday, the pub we had chosen for an evening meal was not serving food! We had heard that this restaurant was there, so tried it and the service and food were excellent, not cheap but very good menu and we enjoyed a lovely evening in quiet, civilized surroundings with friendly service. Thank you..

Very quiet, but warm and comfortable on a cold night, good and friendly service, good food and not badly priced. Good wines at cheap prices. Step at front door is slightly raised from the street and then down into the restaurant. No more steps. On street parking. Didn't keep pestering us, but seemed genuinely pleased when we told them we enjoyed it.

We have visited Trishna for many years. Always really nice! We booked somewhere close to home for Christmas Eve and left due to disappointment. We decided to try the Trishna and it was amazing. They thankfully saved our evening. The shashlick was adored by us all and the staff could not do enough for us. We will continue to visit this great restaurant. Fantastic little gem.

There were 3 of us that called in without booking, it didn't seem that busy to me, we waited quite a while to be seated. We had popadoms with chutney which was just ok.Then we waited a good 45 minutes for our starters, I was just about to grab someone and say forget it we are going when they turned up, they had onion bhaji's and I had tandoori lamb chops, they left quite a bit of theirs and mine was way over seasoned. The mains took ages again, they said they were really busy I beg to differ. For main I had chicken tikka jalfrazi it was so bland. My mates wife had a chicken Afghan dish, she left most of it, and my mate had chicken tikka massala which he said was ok.I found this to be a very expensive meal with very poor food and service.I will not be returning.

Ordered a take away. Had it repeated back to me and went to collect. On arrival back home, was disappointed to find three items where not what I ordered. Never mind, couldn't be bothered to drive all the way back. Phoned to let them know and was told, "you are just out for some freebies", and "you are not one of our regulars". Lastly, and perhaps most concerning, was told "you need to speak more clearly when you order". Oh please. I fear for the future........

Avoid at all costs as this place is a sham. Absolutely no customer service and ignorant staff. Took them over 1 hour to bring us our starter after saying we were going to leave if was not brought soon it did eventually arrive but cold and very small portions and tasteless. Main course arrived cold yet again and very bland. We asked could they reheat they just ignored us. This place is very pricey for both quality and quantity. Never going back there and advise too not bother unless you want a disappointing night.. I wish I could give 0 stars but hey..

Having made a booking earlier in the week was looking forward to the evening. Arrived, on time, given a seat in the reception area. Our drink order was taken but never arrived. Left sitting 20 minutes with no drink or service. Told that despite our booking there was no table and not sure when available. Dreadful service. Walked out. Wouldn't advise for a special occasion. Wouldn't advise for any occasion.

I have tried out Trishna on two occasions, and I have made up my mind, I will NOT be returning again. Between 5-7 it is meant to be half price, but believe you me, it's a tiny amount, they are very stinjy with their portion sizes, and to leave still feeling hungry, is not what we paid for, I will definitely NOT recommend or return. Also there is no atmosphere and it's freezing, it is always quiet, and I'd advise them to not bother with that offer and focus on their portion sizes. I hope this helps.

Place was empty on arrival while other places in whalley were already full and lively. Had a fish curry which was supposed to contain coconut milk ..all I can say is that the sauce was gloopy and sweet .. like the kind of sauce from a jar Basic cooking of a sauce would imply you would be able to see spices used in the sauce..but as I said the sauce was just gloopy!!!!It was horrible. This food was definitely not worth the money and I won't be going again..there's a reason why these places are empty...it's an insult to people who work all week and pay good money to have a nice night out only to be given food like that .My husband is Indian and is a good cook.. I won't write his comments down!!!

Well guys...this has got to be the best Indian restaurant I have visited...it was simply awesome!!!! Being from Glasgow, I have sampled some lovely Indian meals in my time but this has to be the best by far. Staff were so attentive & friendly, we all felt part of their family....FANTASTIC!! I can 100% recommend Trishna for an amazing meal & night out.

Wouldn't normally leave a review but it was absolutely disgusting. Me and my family used to go years ago, thought we would go for an anniversary and what a disappointment. The food was cold, tasteless and when we told the manager that the food was cold, he then started being rude. After that we wanted to leave so we said how much and he said we had to pay full price, even though we did not have much, would not recommend this establishment to anyone! I would have years ago but not now.

Went to Trisha on Sunday 25th sept, it was absolutely terrible, cold food and unhelpful staff, told them that the food was cold and all they did was turn up the temperature on the bay Marie's, (which should be warm anyway!) there was 4 people in our group and no one had hardly anything to eat but we still had to pay full price for the Sunday buffet, the staff was so rude because we complained, it was a really a really good resturant a few years ago, but would not recommend this resturant to anyone now

Came here about 9.15pm on Sat night...very busy but given drinks and menus in the waiting area immediately. Soon seated and the meal was amazing. Starters were chicken chatt, a meal in itself...and mixed kebabs with mint sauce cooler...both tasty and beautifully served.Mains one chicken curry and one lamb sizzler with spices...one mushroom rice and one chips...with a fruit sauce and a salad. We shared all the mains and enjoyed each mouthful...plus three pints of kingfisher a shade over £40....for the two of us. Lovely staff and a great meal after being kept waiting an hour ....at which point we walked out un fed.....at another Clitheroe Indian for a pre booked table..Thankyou Trishna for a lovely meal.

We went to the Trisha for the first time, using a £30 voucher from a local radio station.Parking was a bit difficult as a first time visitor to the village (ended up driving about a mile up the road to turn around) but it was most definitely worth it.The restaurant is very pleasant and has a relaxing atmosphere, and the staff were excellent. We were shown to our table immediately and ordered our drinks - two cokes an half a lager. The Coca Cola was flat, but when we told the waiter, he immediately offered to replace them (we only replaced one as our son prefers his flat, and they left him with both cokes, free of charge). The menu was very extensive, with some unusual (but delicious sounding) dishes that you don't normally see, such as Trout; Venison and Pheasant. Unfortunately the Venison wasn't available, but the menu does say "when available" on some of the dishes. We started with poppadoms and chutneys, then I had the Mixed Thali (be warned, you get a lot), my wife had a Chicken Korma, and our son had Garlic Chicken. All three dishes were delicious and of a sufficient quantity that we couldn't fit in a dessert, although perhaps the one downside is that there isn't a massive selection of desserts - but as we were full, it really didn't matter. In total, our bill came to just under £43 (before the voucher was deducted), which I think is excellent value for the quality of the food. Our most expensive item was my Mixed Thali at £12.95 but that did include rice and a huge Naan bread. We will definitely be returning, and soon.

Went here with a few friends last month and it did not disappoint. Me and my friends have always spoken of the Trishna in high regards and our last visit just proved why. Highly recommend the thali dish and the Bihari biriani which was one of the best birianis I've ever had. Top night.

First class Restuarant where we were looked after in a most excellent manner. The service was of the highest, choice of menu equally so and the general ambience of the place made us so welcome. Will certainly return and continue to applaud the management in a well run, local eating house.

Ordered a takeaway this evening. Over 45 minutes late. Food soggy and barely warm. Drinks and popadums forgotten. When we called to advise they'd forgotten some items we were told they were not prepared to send the items as they had used a taxi to deliver. Never used Trishna before and most certainly will not use them again. Terrible, especially given the standards of all other eateries in Whalley.

Last night's Chicken Shashlik dinner at the Trishna was without doubt, the best Indian meal we've enjoyed during our 40 years of marriage. We knew we were in for a real treat when the dish was brought sizzling to our table. It sounded good. It looked good.It WAS good. So VERY good, in fact. The delicate pilau rice together with a beautifully prepared and slender naan-bread that accompanied the meal, were equally as good. A DEFINITE winner for the Trishna and we HIGHLY recommend.

Garlic bread with cheese nicely cooked, nicely sliced went down nicely allhumdullilah. Tub of chilli sauce 😋 not like your normal tub of chilli sauce, full of flavours, which you can taste gives you a kick and doesn't burn your month, (Am not fan of chilli sauce but this one I enjoyed, lol will find out in the morning. Tub of proper medium fat garlic sauce.
