The best restaurants serving Greek food in Thanet South East

This friendly Greek restaurant was very welcoming, friendly and accommodating for our family of 10, including 4 children. The menu of included meals suitable for each member of the family and the food was delicious.

In a tiny kitchen the chef conjured up a bowl of delicious bean and vegetable soup. It was a generous portion served with chunks of toasted sourdough bread and piping hot. Just what we needed after the chill of a November day. The little restaurant is in a quirky indoor market opposite the Turner gallery on the sea front.

We went to Giorgios last night with the kids who are 5 and 8 for a fantastic meal. The calamari was delicious to start. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and very tender. My wife had a crab pizza which was delicious and flavoursome. The massive bolognaise was hoovered up by my eight year old with top marks. The service was just right and it was a delight to eat in such a welcoming restaurant where people obviously come back again and again. We will be back the next time we’re in Margate!

We had struggled to eat in Margate yesterday, finding only London esque places serving sharing plates of beetroot and octopus, or fish and chip and kebab shops, so we were delighted to come across Giorgio's tonight. It is honestly one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to in a while. Delicious food, good service, and reasonable prices. All served in a cosy basement setting. Highly recommended.

This place could be cool, but unfortunately the bouncers are not it. Everything goes fine up until one day they decide you are not coming back for truly stupid reasons. Highly NOT recommend.

It was Soul weekend in Margate so everywhere was busy. Tried the Slouvaki as there were no queues and even though I’d heard it wasn’t good. The food was very ordinary and overpriced for what it was, the restaurant itself is soulless and unfriendly, really a fast food joint with some seating. My friend and I both ordered the chili versions. There was little spice so asked if we could have more chili. They charged £2 for a tiny tub of a mixture that still had little heat. When we pointed this out to the waitress the manager came to the table. He said this was the only way this restaurant served chili. He was abrupt and discourteous, with no interest in our opinion. We said we wouldn’t be returning, he clearly didn’t care. Avoid if you can, no need to go suffer indifferent, expensive food with appalling service (although the waitresses and waiters were fine).
