The Souvlaki in Thanet

It was Soul weekend in Margate so everywhere was busy. Tried the Slouvaki as there were no queues and even though I’d heard it wasn’t good. The food was very ordinary and overpriced for what it was, the restaurant itself is soulless and unfriendly, really a fast food joint with some seating. My friend and I both ordered the chili versions. There was little spice so asked if we could have more chili. They charged £2 for a tiny tub of a mixture that still had little heat. When we pointed this out to the waitress the manager came to the table. He said this was the only way this restaurant served chili. He was abrupt and discourteous, with no interest in our opinion. We said we wouldn’t be returning, he clearly didn’t care. Avoid if you can, no need to go suffer indifferent, expensive food with appalling service (although the waitresses and waiters were fine).

placed first order online for delivery in excess of £100, £20 of said order not delivered three unanswered calls to the restaurant resulting in having to drive to Margate. Encountered an extremely uninterested abrupt staff member whose response was kitchens now closed can deliver tomorrow ..... refused to refund...... will certainly not be visiting or ordering from again, cant comment on the food as it didn't arrive as for customer service they don't have any .... cant and wont recommend... extremely poor !!!

The food was delicious. I have allergies and was catered for. The other meals that my family got looked fantastic too. I would definitely recommend and return again.

Dirty restaurant, flies in the window, hasn’t been cleaned for some time. Uninterested staff. Food was cold and not very nice. Expensive. Avoid.

I was excited to try here but I was shocked as the restaurant was quite grubby and I know it hasn’t been open that long, it is extremely basic inside and looks like (and feels) it needs a really good deep clean. Food was average, nothing very Greek. I doubt I’d go back. The staff were friendly.

I ordered lunch for home delivery. I ordered a meze and they forgot the sausage and the fries, I was left with pitta bread and tzatziki dip. Tried phoning no reply. Rip off. Wouldn't recommend.

The place is a franchise, nothing authentic about the food just really over priced. I ordered a halloumi burger and fries - The fries were just normal no oregano as mentioned on the menu, the burger stated tomatoes , nothing! Save your money and stick to traditional fish and chips whilst visiting Margate!

Unbelievably bad. This place is basically a kebab shop, but a bad one. Absolutely no effort. The chips were stale. Meat had no taste. Horrible

Terrible! Food was tasteless and the worst ‘Greek’ food I’ve ever eaten. Ordered a beef skewer box-I’m not sure what the meat was but it wasn’t beef. Salad tasteless, chips were old and tasteless. Sauces were both tasteless-just a huge disappointment. I would avoid this place-we should’ve realised this when the restaurant was empty. Money much better spent at a local kebab shop or next door at Peter’s fish factory.

Great location, staff very friendly and food was delicious. I was slightly put off when my pot of tzatziki had a hair in it, the waitress changed it but with little to no apology. We visited with a young baby and there were no changing facilities. I’ve never known a restaurant to allow dogs, I am a dog lover myself but wasn’t overly keen on sharing my dining experience with them.

Saw this reviewed locally so thought we would give it a go as we enjoy this type of food. We were greeted on arrival and asked if we had been before. We had not. The menu is clear. Payment taken at a separate table. Guidance given regarding a dressing for the vegetarian wrap. We could sit where we wanted. Food arrived quite quickly and it was really tasty. The best vegetarian wrap ever. Required a lot of concentration to eat it without making too much of a mess, but we managed. Bit strange to have chips in the wrap, but this didn`t affect the taste one bit. Charming and efficient staff. Nice and cool inside on a hot day. Highly recommended.

We love Greek food, so was excited to see this new cafe/restaurant open. However this was the worst souvlaki we have ever had. The chicken was very dry, and no peppers or onions on the skewer. Chips , soggy and tasteless salad , shredded iceberg, onion and sliced tomatoes , pitta bread and two small pieces of halloumi, plus dip. There was plenty to eat if you could stomach it. Very disappointed .

Sensational food and amazing service. The restaurant had only just opened, me and a friend decided we really fancied a gyros and ordered 2 vegetarian ones. Seriously we could not fault them… the seasoning was incredible, the halloumi was cooked perfectly, the tzatziki was amazing and the wraps were super soft and delicious! The lady who took our order was really friendly and welcoming and allowed us to order even before she had switched the sign to say open!

Lovely food. Been here twice now and both times have been a pleasure. Gyros, both chicken and pork, highly recommended.

Fantastic authentic pork gyros with tzatziki. Staff were friendly, polite and very welcoming. All round excellent service. I look forward to visiting again and enjoying another gyros! Thank you.
