The best restaurants serving French food in Cheltenham South West

We have been regulars at L’Artisan for many years. It was our absolute favourite restaurant and we were devastated when it closed. Yves was a magician in the kitchen; the food was always fabulous and imaginative, the presentation beautiful and the ambience wonderful. Elisabeth always made us very welcome, with hugs and kisses all round, as did Anna, their lovely waitress. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and we loved talking to Yves when he emerged from the kitchen to chat with clients. What shall we do now without you? Lesley & Roger

Pastries look lovely, unfortunately a lack of vegan options. There is one pastry, no savouries. This is a shame as other bakeries are way more inclusive. Coffee was lovely and environment is nice but absolutely freezing! It is undercover but it’s a temporary structure which doesn’t warm up!

Surprise party but lovely venue and location

Came in on a Friday at 21:22 and was told that they’ll be losing soon, so can’t accommodate a table. Hence, I’d rather suggest closing time as 21:00.

Staff were lovely and the food was exceptional. Will definitely be back!

The food is reasonable and the staff were fine but be aware of the pricing. We were charged £15 for 5 popadoms although each are on the menu at £1.50 each. The manager pointed out that they charge £1.50 per person for pickles and the tried to convince me that all restaurants in Cheltenham do the same.I knew this was not true. Also, the drinks were expensive at £5.50 for each bottle of water and £7.95 for a bottle of beer. It appears that they make the menu look reasonable for the food but rip you off for the extras.

My daughter had her 18th birthday party here. A great venue and the owner and staff were so helpful and created a really lovely space for everyone. They even had a personalised cocktail menu.

We had a wonderful Christmas meal!
