Thai Brasserie is always very clean and welcoming, with a familiar Thai cuisine menu with a good range and selection. They have a selection of beers available in restaurant and the food is always of a good quality. Staff and polite and friendly, and it is generally easy to get parked somewhere near by.

Where do I start? Thai brasserie is one of the worst Thai restaurants I have been to in this country. We went in and we tried to order, we asked a waitress and she just walked off. 10 minutes later, we asked the same woman. Her English was very poor, I repeatedly asked her "does this dish come with rice?" She had no idea what I was talking about. 45 minutes later, our food comes, I accept this was a Friday night but what came was very, very disappointing.

Couple on an evening meal. Not an expert on Thai food, but the food was distinctly different from other Oriental fare. We used the online menu to pick dishes, to save time on arrival. All food was served in a timely manner, and was very tasty. Staff were uniformly helpful and friendly - we were advised that we had ordered too many mains (3), but we managed to have a good meal. We're not keen on coconut or peanut, so we avoided these, but dishes were spicy where they need to be, and the milder dishes were well flavoured. Prices seemed reasonable.

First of all, it was refreshing to find a set menu for vegetarians! The starter and main courses were delicious. We were, however, disappointed with the dessert menu, which was very standard and nearly all ice cream or sorbet based. There were none of the lovely Thai desserts I have had elsewhere. Good value for money overall. Pleasant ambiance and attentive waiting staff.

I ordered a Diet Coke, which was completely flat, so I asked for an orange juice instead, which took forever to arrive.I then orders chicken satay as a starter which when it arrives was so dry I could hardly even get it off the wooden stick. I was so disappointed because chicken satay is my favourite. Then I ordered a chicken panaege which was ok, the egg fried rice that came with it again was very over cooked and dry.I just felt like all the food had been cooked three hours before and it had just been sat there then reheated once ordered. Which is so disappointing because the Indian Brasserie their sister branch I've never had a bad meal there before.I won't be going back and I'll stick to the Thai Emerald which is much better.

I thought this only happened in Chinese take aways. Anyway it didn't work as he got one starter wrong......perhaps he should listen to the actual food being ordered and not just the number.Anyway, food was okay, fish cakes a bit rubbery, red curry not particularly spicy, and beers a bit expensive.Would try other Thai restaurants before returning.

There were 3 of us in the party and we were seated at one of the window tables. The tables were fairly close together, which accounts for the title, but we enjoyed a comfortable dinner. The food was excellent throughout. I had Tom Yum Kung as a starter and it was of a high standard, although I would personally have preferred it somewhat spicier. The Jungle Curry that I had for the entree course suffered a little from the same problem and, in my view, did not warrant the 3 chilies annotation on the menu. However, I suppose that they have to set the bars low in deference to those with a softer palette. All the food was delicious, however, and was suitably enhanced by the SingHa beer. The 2 ladies who accompanied me were raving about the duck served with tamarind sauce. Above all, it was the friendly attitude of the staff that helped create a good impression, with each member being meticulously polite and attentive. To be recommended.

I come to Thai brasserie nearly every Tuesday and Saturday but on Tuesday the coconut rice doesn't seem to taste nice it just taste like normal rice but at Saturday the coconut rice seem to be so sweet and Delicious like it suppose to be( I just have to mention it). And the bad side of Thai brasserie is the toilet ( no hate) but it kind of smell like a dead rat in the toilet, I suggest if you put some spray of nice smell I think that would help but the layout of the bathroom is quite posh. I'm really not sure how to review this restaurant. We visited on an extremely busy Sunday night during the Jazz festival. The last time we visited it was a quiet lunchtime. What still stands out is the quality of the food which is excellent. In fact, I'd say that it's as good as you'd find in Thailand. I suggest you try the beef salad to get a real feel for the quality of flavours that they achieve. The dishes are nicely presented with warm plates (a sign of a restaurant that cares). The staff are terribly helpful and willing but seem stressed and rushed off their feet. On the plus side, they are obliging - like moving is to a quiet table away from a rowdy foursome. But strange things happened like bringing us the bill BEFORE our main course! The poor chap was very apologetic. Don't let any of this stop you visiting this excellent Thai restaurant. Let's hope things are less stressful next time we visit.

It spoilt the whole evening for us...why do people in the UK talk so loudly...I never noticed it before but its like they cant talk to each other they have to shout! It's not often we get out so a real treat. However bad choice of venue. I had the Tom Yum to start and my wife the fish cakes. Mine tasted like a powder had been put in warm water. No flavour other than greasy. The fish cakes were sticky and tepid. Not nice. We then waited an hour for the main. My jungle curry had been made from the same packet mix as the Tom Yum but with some extra chilli. My wife's prawns were the saving grace. Superb. That is after we sent them back to be cooked as they were served up raw. To be fair they reduced the bill by 10%. Staff were friendly but overall give it a miss. Usually we prefer to complain there and then.We will never ever return and cannot recommend this to others sadly. It was a cold night, so the radiators were high, and too hot to touch, but we were left to find out how to adjust them ourselves. The staff are really lovely people, but one of our waiters brought us Tempranillo when we asked for Chardonnay. Our first and last evening visit to this establishment. When we arrived we were seen to our table and the first thing we noticed was that it was slightly cold and so we both kept our jackets on. First Gripe in the very first minute. Surely on a cold evening you have the room cosy and warm? The waiter provided us with the food and drinks menu and left us to choose. Two minutes later he came back where I ordered my drink but there was a query as to what number it was. He snatched the drinks menu from out of my wife’s hands so that he could let me point out the chosen drink. He then turned back to my wife and asked her what drink she would like even though she had not had the chance to see what was on offer. Stunningly rude. Second Gripe in less than 5 minutes. We ordered one starter to share between us. Half way through, the main course arrived. Third Gripe. By now we were starting to get very annoyed and our dining experience was beginning to evaporate before our very eyes.I had ordered ‘Vegetable Stir Fry Sweet and Sour’, a dish I order often in many other Thai Restaurants. To be fair, the vegetables were nice enough but they were covered in either the same or a very similar sweet red sauce that you would expect had you ordered a Sweet and Sour from your local Chinese Takeaway. There was nothing Thai tasting about the dish at all and I had to look around to check I had entered the correct restaurant. My wife ordered a Crispy Fish dish and this was covered in a different coloured brown sweet sauce that tasted almost the same as my own red sauce. Fourth Gripe. Even after the event, I am still stunned how this could even remotely be classed as Thai food. They need a Thai Chef urgently who understands how to cook the food.50 minutes after arriving we were finished and we could not wait to leave. We don’t have much luck with Cheltenham Restaurants it seems and this was a complete and utter disaster. Forty UK Pounds wasted. It was the ‘polite English Gent’ in me that stopped me making a scene and letting them know our opinion and demanding a reduction in the bill. I could rant some more and I have deleted many of the comments I originally wrote but I will just leave it with ‘never again’.

Visited first week of January. I had a sharing platter to start. Quite frankly the quality was awful!.... It would be exactly what I'd expect to find in a box from a cheap supermarket range. Very salty...very poor quality, and no preparation needed by the restaurant. Just get it out of the packet, warm it up, call it a fancy name and charge too much. My partner and I dined early Saturday night (7ish). The restaurant was not overly busy. We were greeted by the front of house (?) he pulled out my chair but didn't offer to take our jackets (first strange event). Gave us menu's etc. then came back literally two minutes later and asked us for what we wanted to drink - we'd just sat down!. We ordered a bottle of red, the cheapest bottle at £14 (it was quite good). On pouring the wine, he spilt drops of it on the white linen table cloth and didn't seem bothered by this (odd and bit unprofessional). After pouring our wine and I asked if we could order, he said he didn't take orders and suggested to someone we couldn't see then stood behind us for ten minutes while we waited for someone. Strange. We had to ask again to order. Other tables were getting free brackets of prawn crackers and water – we seemed to have missed out on this. We ordered the Vegetarian Mixed Starters (£6.96 EACH). This was pricey for what it was, and I had a LOL at the Iceland comment below from a fellow reviewer of which this starter was most definitely. The vegetables were not tempered. Everything single thing was deep fired. Our mains; Thai duck curry (£11.95) and I had the vegetarian Pad Thai. I love Pad thai and I was travelled all over Thailand so… Partner had no complaints on the duck. Whereas the Pad Thai – was a whole bag of sugar used? I think so.Two stars - for weird service and average food it was not worth £50. We will not return, as there are plenty of other Thai places to try in Cheltenham.

The lamb in the curry was very tender and the sauce delicious. The green chicken curry also tasty, In fact everything was great. Here's why.I saw the new place had opened and took my girlfriend to give it a try.Ordered drinks, sat by the window, all jolly lovely. Menus were stuck together with old food, but never mind.Asked waiter for a gluten free menu, or at least one with gluten-containing dishes marked. He said that there wasn't one, but that not to worry, pretty much any dish could be made gluten-free, and that we should ask. Result! It turns out, though, that their definition of "pretty much any dish" excludes all but one of their starters; prawn crackers; every main dish which isn't a curry... and the one curry my girlfriend wanted (Massaman I think). So having iterated through all of these options and been told "no" by the waiter, we decided to give up and eat elsewhere. We asked for the bill for just our drinks and were charged a tenner for a small bottle of Kingfisher and a glass of Rose. This does not represent good value for money. I am not saying that they water down their wine, because that would be potentially libellous. All I am saying is that we were served a vintage with notes of rain and just a hint of babbling brook. For £6.50 I'd expect better. As I say, this is not a 2* review of the food, because although we were very keen to try this place, we didn't get to eat anything. At the end of the day, all restaurants in Cheltenham are judged against the super-high standards set by Bar and Wok. Given this experience, the service and value offered by Brasserie are not in the same league.

What a lovely clean and contemporary restaurant. Every staff member there was efficient and attentive. We enjoyed a sharing platter to start followed by massaman and red Thai curries with coconut and sticky rice, all beautifully flavoured and thoroughly enjoyable. We have eaten far and wide and rarely award 5 out of 5's in our reviews but this was an excellent dining experience and highly recommended!

There were 11 of us for Sunday lunch including one in a wheelchair and a 13 month old baby. Everyone was made extremely welcome and the waiting staff were very attentive, checking to make sure my disabled mother-in-law was OK. My 13 month old granddaughter was given her own plate of prawn crackers and carrot sticks. The food was superb. Some of us had the two courses for £7.95 while others had the Sunday special of three courses (more variety) for £12.95 per person to share. I had the two courses as I wanted the Thai fish cakes and Pad Thai Noodles, neither of which are on the Sunday menu. My husband likes the jungle curry as it's very hot.The restaurant is bright and spotlessly clean. I've been quite a few times before and shall certainly return soon.

First I want this restaurant to change the chef because it called Thai brasserie not Indian brasserie, I know that This kind of food isn't Thai chef style of cooking.please get a real Thai chef because that will improve the food. It seem like the chef don't have any knowledge of cooking Thai food. If the manager can at least tell the chef that some of the costumer don't like his food, it doesn't matter if he is gonna listen or not just tell him. Don't u know why your costumer are dropping well that the chef fault.I will come back when they change the chef. I bet I wouldn't come back because your restaurant won't ever change the chef.

Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish. We were a group of 6. We had mixed vegetable starters for 2 and mixed starters for 2. These were all absolutely amazing fresh and beautifully presented. Definitely enough for a starter for 6. We all had different meals from green/red curry, mussamam curry, pad Thai. We also has a selection of rice, coconut, steamed, sticky. We probably ordered a bit too many rices as we had one each and we had some left over. The food was all amazing, fresh and high quality. Service was excellent and price was very reasonable. I will definitely be back.

Having failed to get a table at our top choices on a busy Saturday night, we settled on the Thai Brasserie because it was the only place with a free table (mistake 1). The place itself is very nice, very clean - and very friendly. Staff were all well drilled. But god knows where the chef learnt his craft. The best thing we ate was the seafood salad - and that was because it was a salad! The starters were largely of the deep fried variety (mistake 2). We orderered the Jungle Curry - and it was honestly the worst dish I've had in years (mistake 3). And for the first time in my life we walked away from an opened bottle of wine (mistake 4) as it had a whiff of the Austrian 80's. I'd have given it 1/2 stars, but it's an OK restaurant with decent staff

I've never been a fan of Thai food, previous experiences have been very hit-and-miss, but we came here for my daughter's birthday meal, and this is where she wanted to eat out. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, all of the food (sorry, don't recall the names of the dishes) I found to be very aromatic and full of flavour, distinctly Thai and very enjoyable! The service was very pleasant, friendly and at a steady pace, and the restaurant itself is very classy and elegant. Overall I was very satisfied, as were my family. Perhaps it's little surprise that this restaurant is owned by the same group who own my regular Indian restaurant (Indian Voojan down the road) as well as owning quite a few others around Cheltenham. I'm not generally a fan of chain restaurants but these guys certainly know what they're doing, they don't feel like part of a chain and each place has its own personal touch. No affiliation with them by the way!

Ambience was pleasant. We were there on a Sunday evening and had the Sunday set meal for Two. It was delicious! Clean and flavoursome food that made the taste buds dance. For £40, we had two 3 course meals and a bottle of wine.Bathrooms were clean and worked as they should.Parking is free in Cheltemham after 8pm.Would definitely go back again. As a bonus, they do NOT use MSG in their cooking :-)

This place was good but not great. Service was very good and attentive so that's a plus. The menu is extensive and we ordered quite a few veggie and dumpling starters that were enjoyed by all. I had jungle curry which was as spicy as advertised. The only drawback was that the food wasn't as flavorful/aromatic as some Thai can be and the wine selection was not good. They had two white and two red by the glass options and the red I ordered (Malbec maybe) was terrible. Very watery and cheap tasting. My colleague ordered white and felt the same. Perhaps up the flavor quotient and offer better drinks but otherwise a nice low-key spot for reliable Thai.

From the first moment when we arrived we was rushed out from the restaurant, no music, no any atmosphere. The staff nearly can not speak in English. friendly town centre dining...buzzing and food was promising at the start....but the quality of the chicken was a let down. Perhaps they should concentrate on less quantity, higher quality ingredients, I for one would not mind paying higher prices for that and given this is in a smart part of Cheltenham, a winning change of strategy?

There is a warm welcome to the Thai Brasserie and the service cannot be faulted. The food is prepared well and whilst there was a little wait between the starter and the main this wasn't too much of a problem. The restaurant was busy on arrival but they were still able to take a last minute booking.

We went to the restaurant recently for a friend’s birthday. There were 8 of us. We had shared mixed starters which I didn’t think it was fresh and the satay sauce tasted a bit sour which I know it shouldn’t be. The spring rolls smell off. We ordered different main dishes, ranging from various curries, stir-fried and from the grill section but they all kinda tasted the same. My drunken noodle was very salty and not spicy as it supposed to be at all. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone until they get a better chef in. Very disappointed it with the taste of food, quality and price.

The restaurant looked really nice from the outside when we were deciding where to eat. And we fancied a nice spicey Thai meal. The place was quiet when we arrived, but was very busy later in the evening. The waitress could not be nicer, but both our soups were so insipid that we sent them back and went for the safe option of tempora vegetables. Tempura batter should be light and crunchy - these were not. Another safe option in a Thai restaurant is the green and red curry. They both tasted the same! And £3.50 for a small bowl of rice is outrageous! If we lived in Cheltenham we would have complained, but we just could not be bothered.

I had been looking forward to our visit to The Thai Brasserie during a weekend stay in Cheltenham and we weren't disappointed. As you might expect for a Saturday night, the venue was extremely busy and despite having booked, we were taken upstairs, but were seated at a table with a nice window view looking over the town. The staff were stretched, but the level of service was maintained as was the quality of the food. Two courses each and a bottle of nice wine came to around £70, so not what you might call good value, but they were full all night and all the other diners seemed to be expressing their approval for what they were eating; so in this instance you get what you pay for and that includes the enjoyable atmosphere.

Visited here with my girlfriend Saturday night, booked a table for 8.30 but upon arrival we were told the people on our table hadn't left yet, no too much of a problem. We went for a drink and came back at 9, the table meant for us still hadn't left but fortunately another was available. Service was quick and friendly, and the food was good but not outstanding. I hate to say it but I make a better thai green curry at home. The duck main we had was lovely, but the mixed starters for two felt like it was frozen half an hour earlier. Maybe I'm being a tad too harsh, but for the price you pay, I would expect slightly more. Service couldn't be faulted though. Will possibly give it another try in the future.

I visit Cheltenham regularly on business - and the Thai Brasserie is my restaurant of choice. The food is fabulous - and I know it's a little thing but it is always piping hot, rare in restaurants in my experience. Great fish cakes and satay, great stir fry and curries - and very friendly and attentive staff. I don't often gush about restaurants, but this is one of my favourites when I am away from home on business.
