The best restaurants serving Default food in Bala, Llanuwchllyn Gwynedd North Wales

We come to Bala frequently but today felt hungry and saw the welcoming tables outside - as we had our dogs we thought we try for lunch and amazing place… food great and friendly service! Our dogs we fine outside. Highly recommend for anyone with dogs - they do allow both inside and out. Food prices are reasonable.

We had an excellent meal at Bala Spice. My husband always has King Prawn Madras and he said it was the best, and hottest, he has ever had. BYOB was an added bonus for us and cash only payment was not an issue. The service by Emda was quick and friendly. I wasn’t keen on the bright lights and would have preferred more subdued lighting, but the food and service more than made up for the ambiance.

We popped in for a snack and had jacket potato with tune mayo and my husband had chips, sausage and egg. Both dishes were well cooked and well presented. We also had two hot chocolates which were delicious. The lady who served us was lovely and very pleasant. We enjoyed our meals very much and look forward to our return.

Dog food terrible reheated slop. This Chinese takeaway was good years ago now it's absolutely disgusting the owners have no pride in what they are serving anymore.

Been here plenty of times, haven't been for 6 months. Large donner kebab was small, meat was thick and like it had been cooked way in advance. Chicken donner was like shwarma and not shredded chicken. Chicken wraps barely had any filling. Everything was luke warm. Cost 32 pounds and was definitely not worth it. Will not be returning. We nearly ordered the bala special at £15 which we normally do but thank goodness we never.

Great atmosphere, spacious and it has a pool table. A bit of a wait to get our drinks. The veranda has plenty of tables and a great view of Lynn Efrnwy. Beware the fag butts bowl though. It has a food menu that fits with the venue.

Whilst visiting Bala we planned on having some food and found this place which was dog friendly and appeared to be serving food in the bar as there were menus placed on the tables as well as condiments and cutlery. I ordered drinks at the bar from a young lad who wasn’t rude, but not particularly welcoming either, then sat down to view the menu and decide what we’d like to order. Decisions made, I returned to the bar to be told that they weren’t serving food until later in the day. Whilst this wasn’t too much of an issue, had I known I wouldn’t have bothered ordering drinks and gone somewhere else. I do think that if they’re not serving food at that time then the menus should be removed from the table or at least have something visible to indicate what times food is served.

This is the only fish and chip shop in Bala, mixed reviews so decided to give it a go as we usually have fish n chips when away on holiday. 3 fish and decided to go for regular chips curry sauce and a sausage for the dogs! Just over £30. When we opened the bag to eat them there was only one portion of chips, must have been a communication issue;although why we would split one chips between 3 people I don't know! Anyway the fish was fine although quite a greasy batter and chips okay,curry the same. Nothing special and I'm wondering if I paid £30 for this how much it would have been for 2 extra portion of chips. Disappointing overall.

Fancied a pizza after a long drive to Wales. We were greeted with a warm smile and upon ordering we were given some garlic dough balls compliments of the chef - these were really delicious. The pizza was tasty - the tomato sauce was tangy yet sweet. The base was more bread like that a traditional Italian sour dough pizza but still enjoyable. The chill oil was also homemade and was full of flavour, one of the best chilli oils I’ve eaten. Really reasonably priced. Under £30 for 2 people. Great for a quick cheap bite.

We went here by mistake, we assumed it would be busy on a Saturday morning and we were the only ones there, the smoothie machine was broken and they had no diet drinks for type 1 diabetics. I ordered eggy bread with cheese and I was served an on letter with two slices of break with cheese in the middle.x extremely bizarre and extremely grim. Overall bad experience. Ps the old lady in there was definitely a werewolf / look at the hands!!!!!!!!!!?! DANGER BEWARE

Hilary, who is disabled, and I were staying locally in our caravan (not for the first time). A very good friend of our drove over from Sheffield and we decided to go out for Sunday lunch. We went into Bala and parked outside Sospan Fach (that we had been happy to use on a previous visit). We had a drink each, Sunday Roast (Pork), Scampi Chips and Salad and a Ham Ploughmans. All well cooked and presented, tasty, plentiful and served with a smile. We were sitting chatting about to leave when the lady brought the Sweet Menu so we had Berry Pancakes and Cream, Eton Mess and Sherry Trifle. I paid and was more than happy with the cost for three of us to have had an enjoyable meal. I cannot understand the low score and might have to try some of the other places in Bala to see how wonderful they are to have scored higher! Then again I might stick to where I have been well catered for in the past and again today. Keep up the good work.

Left by car from Sale, Manchester and arrived in Bala; looked for ‘Subway’ signage at number 39 on the High Street - only saw ‘Spar’ so turned around for another look before assuming that the Subway franchise must have closed. Drove on and found lunch elsewhere!
