Y Cwrt in Gwynedd

Despite reading the reviews we wanted to give it a try. We have fussy kids but spaghetti bolognese is always a hit and a previous review mentioned this was great here. Service was absolutely fine, but maybe that's because we were the only customers albeit it being a Sunday evening. We ordered the spaghetti bolognese and two pizzas and all was disappointing especially the spaghetti. So on the contrary to what others have said here the service was quick, and fast however we were the only customers so hard to say and the food was very disappointing. Bland, watery, very little meat sauce and abundance of spaghetti. We wouldn't go back.

Friends birthday supper celebration. Very short staffed - extremely slow service but when the good finally arrives it is nice. Not sure how this place manages to succeed. It never appears to improve. Only one card payment allowed for each party otherwise payment in cash only. The proprietor is quite rude and responded that it is a restaurant and not a cafe!!! Not sure what he was getting at. However, beware all, you will be waiting a long time for drinks and food if you decide to eat here and I'm local.

We disregarded the bad reviews and decided to give this a try. My husband had been the previous week for pizzas with his two boys. He said the pizzas were excellent. The only complaint was that he had to ask 3 times to pay his bill. We had dinner there a week later. My husband had the pizza again, which didnt disappoint, freshly made and generous topping. I had chicken tagliatelle. It was a generous portion with lots of chicken and very tasty. We were informed on arrival of the waiting time, it was explained that each dish is cooked fresh to order. Service a bit sliw but we weren't on any hurry. Lovely restaurant wjth a good atmosphere. Would go again and recommend

A very weird set up. A very young looking lad arranging tables and one other lad taking orders, dressed in a SPAR hoody. Food took over an hour to arrive. Pizza was one of the worst I have ever had, daughter spaghetti bolganse was floating in oil. I would not recommend this place at all. A table of 10 arrive just as we were ready to go and had to go to the bar to ask if they could come and take there order, bet they were in for a long wait.

Weird place - food odd, chilli with a tonne of chilli power on it …. Ran out of all draught beer …. I would avoid at all costs - feel sorry for the waiting staff

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years but since moving to this venue the food standard has dropped and the service is chaotic at best. We thought we would give it one more go as havent been in a while but we wont be rushing back. The young girl who served us, as nice as she was, was hopeless. We ordered some hummus and dough balls to start, I had to ask after 40 minutes whether they were ever coming and when they did, it was the wrong starter. My meal arrived 10 minutes before everyone elses and again,I had to prompt them for the other meals. My daughters spaghetti was overcooked and when we asked for the bill, the waitress tried to take our drinks that we hadnt finished. I could have understood if the restaurant was busy but there were 9 of us in there. Such a shame.

Absolutely loved this place. Delicious pizza, and the best part is the amazing staff; the waiting on staff were wonderful; efficient, professional and so friendly and warm. The owner also served our food and is clearly a very lovely person; kind to his staff and so welcoming. The Palestinian flags made us choose this place and we were so glad we did :)

Let's start on a positive. The waiter welcomed us, quickly seated us and took our drink order. He was friendly and polite. He was working alone and welcomed all of the customers in the same timely and friendly manner. The venue is lovely and on appearance we assumed it was going to be good. What a shame then, that this restaurant uses pre made bases for their pizzas. The toppings were fine but the perfectly shaped, very plain bases really let it down. It was fairly cheap, but such a simple change could make this a place to recommend.

awful place. manager treats his underpaid, underage, overworked staff terribly. shouts at them in front of customers for the smallest simple mistakes.

We visited on a Sunday night. Unfortunately we were the only customers in the restaurant although the takeaway side appeared busy. The waitress who looked after us was lovely. We had 2 starters, 2 large glasses of malbec (delicious) and 2 pizzas. The bill was a very reasonable £46. We will eat there again when we are next in Bala.

Very poor quality of meals unlike the other places we visited in Bala. Wouldn’t go there again. Only good thing was the waitress who was polite. The chef needs to stick to their day job. The whole restaurant was so hot that the waitress had to get us some menus to waft in our faces. Quote from one of the customers “the food was absolutely disgusting”. We aren’t picky so this is saying something. Congealed pasta isn’t a good vibe.

Went with a group of friends. Service was excellent. Delicious food, especially the spaghetti Bolognese. Good sized portions.

Seated for 30 minutes before a new entrant was seated beside us and had their drinks order taken immediately. The only switched on front of house member of staff, I believe to be the bartender, noticed the issue and rushed over to take a drinks order. I believe the other front of house member of staff managed to eat a staff meal at the bar while we finally received drinks. After the newly seated table had their food orders taken, we finally had our offer of a drinks order and subsequent food order taken. Sat for about 20 minutes until the table next door received their food, assumed ours would arrive soon. It did not. A member of kitchen staff then came out from the kitchen and engaged in friendly chit chat with the only other two tables besides us for the rest of the night. Decided however long waiting was enough, offered to pay the bartender for the drinks order and she apologised and confirmed our departure with the chef/owner who waived our bill. I believe the bartender tried her best but was let down by the rest of her team at the venue.

Okay so, we were staying nearby and needed to have some tea and saw pizza and thought brilliant, came in and it looked great, well presented but there was no indication of whether to wait to be seated or anything so we stayed where we were and waited. A young man came over. Barely said a word except to basically let us sit anywhere, so we did. The window had a small collection of dead flies but that doesn’t put me off my food. He very quietly asked us what we’d like to drink, we gave our order, he went off. Twenty minutes later, we got our drinks and he apologised about the wait (it was mostly quiet) then ordered our starters and main and made sure he heard exactly what we would like. Waited another half an hour. Thoroughly enjoyed the starters. Garlic mushrooms with dough balls and garlic bread. Lovely food, so nearly 45-ish minutes go by and a young lass comes to the table with the wrong order, they’re going around tables trying to find out where it is. I’m sort of losing patience by then, I won’t lie and nearly asked hubby to pay for what we had and leave. He wanted to just give benefit of the doubt. The food came, my hubby ordered T-bone steak rare, it was medium, and I had to ask if my side was coming, they brought it no problem and they asked us if food was okay and partner said that he was a little unhappy he got a medium and not a rare steak, she apologised and he said it’s fine, I will still eat it but the young lad has barely communicated. and that’s not great. She explained they worked long hours etc. It’s more nods and “mm-hmms” etc. We ate the food. She didn’t look happy. None of them did tbh. To me, as an outsider, they looked under 18. There were people who were in after us and they’ve been in, ordered, paid and gone. The business needs to really change how they operate and they can’t say they’re busy because it was quiet when we arrived. The “chef” asked us what we wanted from the situation and insinuated we wanted a free meal. We said no, we will pay what was appropriate for the poor service we received. He also said my partner should have sent the steak back and he would have made another but my partner said no, because one he would have waited another 45 minutes for food and two, he wasn’t going to waste the food. He did take money off the bill and we left

My son is a fussy eater but he loved the pizza here. I had ham tagliatelle and my wife had the lasagne. We all shared a garlic bread and olives. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours were rich, but in a good way - they're clearly not skimping on the herbs, and everything tasted fresh. The owner was a good laugh and had good banter with us and my son. An unexpected gem in a small town - highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant when visiting family in Bala, what an absolutely awful experience, the food tasted absolutely vile, the only decent thing was the garlic bread. having looked into this restaurant and the owner of this establishment, he has already been fined thousands for keeping well out of date food (please look him up on google), i am not sure how he is allowed to trade anymore and i will be reporting him before someone gets seriously ill. Seriously AVOID this place...

It's great for a night out. I went on Saturday and had a lot of fun with my mates. Very nice staff. Waiting time for food was a little long but definetly worth it. I recommend the pizza. Best place to go for a good pizza in bala. Definetly recommend the place

Lovely food with quick and polite service, the owner was super helpful with information. The pizza was great and the dough balls with twisted herbs inside was beautiful! Loved this!!

Dreadful service, food that had clearly gone off it tasted sour and awful, dreadful management who were extremely rude, the waiting staff have clearly not been trained at all. This is the worst restaurant we have ever visited!!!! Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!

The place was empty but as it was Sunday evening we assumed that was why. However, the young waiter serving us was severely under-trained or really didn't want to be there, either way, he shouldn't have been front of house. The pizza's were very nice, as were the chips but when we asked the waiter for salt, his response was that the chips already had salt on, (a) clearly they shouldn't have for customers who don't want it & (b) we asked for the salt because we wanted the salt (for the pizza's) , but whatever we required it for, we just expected the waiter to get it, not tell us we didn't need it. Upon finishing our pizza's but still eating the chips, the waiter asked if we were done, & when we said 'not quite', he still attempted to lean over & take the plates away. Overall I'd say by all means get a takeaway (ensuring you specify salted or not) but as for eating in, I'd strongly recommend you chose another venue.

Upon arrival it looked lovely but empty with only a few tables full we ordered drinks which didn’t taste the best as the beer tasted off and my 3 year old daughters orange juice tasted off as though it had been sat so long it turned into alcohol We looked at the menu and asked if they had a children’s menu with nuggets and chips on as this is what my daughter wanted and the reply we got was sorry we only sell proper food here we can make a smaller portion of the adults menu The table next to us refused to pay for there food as it smelt so bad and tasted even worse This pit is off even more after terrible service and terrible drinks The restaurant is cash only with no advertisement and the young girl that served us didn’t tell us

Wow, what an amazing pizza we enjoyed in Y Cwrt last Monday, The wine was delicious and perfect for the meal, the starter so tasty and a speciality of the house. Pizzas, plenty to choose from and so light along with a fresh salad. Charming owner who spent time chatting to us, cannot wait to return next year, what a treasure Bala!

We stumbled upon this place and we’re pleasantly surprised. We had delicious veggie lasagna and the kids enjoyed their pizza. The manager/ chef was also very chatty and welcoming.

Food is great, unfortunately the service is slowwwwww and they only accept cash 😠 If you are not in a rush and want good pizza Try it out

Service was absolutely shocking which took away from the amazing food being served. Also the restaurant is cash only which is ridiculous in 2023.

I always wanted to try out this restaurant, some of the bad reviews had put us off. The place is stunning, and wouldn't look out of place in Central london. Only downside was a few broken tiles in the bathroom and a broken urinal. The food, we both ordered a stake, which was beautifully cooked and tender, although very overpriced! Sadly the coke was flat though.Overall we will come again.

Oh dear. Beer was awful, tried to change but no other options were available. We’d ordered food but on witnessing what was served to other patrons (and their facial expressions), we thought ‘time to leave’. It looks lovely, but don’t be fooled. Top tip, The White Lion up the road was excellent.

We walked off the street into this restaurant. Staff were great and very attentive. Food was great and nice size portions. Was reasonably priced, drinks a little dear. Would come here again!

This place is rubbish ! Wouldn’t recommend!! The young safe are brilliant but the other staff are disrespectful and no manners at all !!

Amazing food, we had pizza and pasta. Amazing quality and taste. The peroni on draught was beautiful. Good to see young staff being given the opportunities they deserve. We enjoyed the relaxed covid rules, as a family we believe they are ridiculous and not needed, so it was nice to have a taste of our former life. Cash only is not problem at all as there’s a cash point right outside the door. Highly recommend this place.

Stayed near Bala for a weeks holiday with our two children and had an amazing time in Wales. We are in Bala most nights at various places. Y CWRT was our last evening meal and tbh a little disappointed compared to previous places we frequented, No wine list we had to order from our waiters limited knowledge of the wines available and were charged £20 for a Pinot Grigio which was much cheaper elsewhere! But couldn’t check this. Our bill came to £80 plus and we’re told at payment we couldn’t pay by card CASH ONLY this is the norm apparently.Food was reasonable 2 pizzas a Tuna Salad and a T Bone Steak which was well done rather than medium All in all ok just disappointing having eaten next door at Y Cyfnod Cafe and Bistro which was cheaper nicer and much more friendlier

We would not return here. Poor service - waitresses very slow, not welcoming, generally completely graceless. Food was mostly fine - garlic mushrooms very tasty, lasagne was good. But desserts let it down, ice cream seemed to have been melted and refrozen judging by ice crystals and something seriously wrong with the base of the summer fruit crumble, which tasted and smelled like vomit. Staff seemed quite uninterested and no apology though they did (at my request) remove it from the bill. There are much better places to eat in Bala.

Teenage front of house unable and in some cases unwilling to provide any sort of service, drink brought out after mains after asking for drinks previously. What a shame as the quality of food was excellent.

Absolutely amazing food, cooked fresh. Staff were friendly. Everywhere was clean and tables were tidied promptly. Because the food is fresh it takes longer to come to the table but it’s worth the wait. My youngest is a fussy eater and he didn’t even complain. Price wise it’s not too bad but it’s not cheap, but, again, it’s worth it

Very nice meal out, called in by chance as we didn't have a booking staff were pleasant and attentive. Ordered Pizza all round and dough balls, the dough balls were light and fluffy and the pizzas were really nice, will definitely go back!

I was with some friends and we orde pizza. We have been served with some of those you find in supermarket for one pound, but just with some more cheese and few toppings. That is a scam! Please avoid it

Recommend you visit. Pizza was fresh and delicious, pasta was light but struggled to finish as the portion was so large. The owner was very attentive and had cooked everything beautifully.

Pizzas were delicious but appalled at there being no track & trace questions asked. The attention to detail as far as Covid-19 preventative measures were non-existent!

Food was good, front of house was awful. Young boys, one of which was covered in love bites which created an interesting conversation with my young children. Asked if I wanted my bill after my starter !! No music or ambiance. Chef or owner finally made an appearance after 1 hour and turned the music on. To my absolute horror a couple of ladies were placed at a table with the previous customers mains still in situ, they foolishly took the table ZERO COVID CONSIDERATION !!!!!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous food. Huge portion sizes. Freshly cooked and extremely tasty. Staff were friendly and ensured we were happy with every course.

Had a meal with my teenage girls, they had pizza which was good and I had lasagne which I enjoyed. Waiting staff were very helpful.My only gripe is that whilst there was hand sanitizer and tables were spaced out, they did not ask my details for track and trace plus they insisted on cash payments. The ice cream van at the top of the lake takes cards so cant think why they wouldn't? I hope they can tighten up on track and trace, and do the right thing and offer card payments. I think it would make customers feel safer during these difficult times.

My wife and I were very happy with our choice to go to the Cwrt today. Although we live in Bala we havent eaten at the Cwrt in a long time. The service was friendly and faultless, from the owner also his young member of staff, who was very competent and was always doing some worthwhile work job under her own incentive. Some past comments from others were the food took a long time to come and service slow, we did not find this at all, considering the quality of the food and attention to detail with presentation, we didnt have to wait very long. We had starters of soup and garlic mushrooms, both good quality and delicious, I and my daughter had roast beef and my wife had roast chicken all was very good, the chicken had chicken gravy and the beef, beef gravy, the chicken was also accompanied with stuffing which was delicious. The portion sizes were very generous, we couldn't manage all of it due to our starters. The atmosphere was nice, the decor lovely and nice background music played at a perfect noise level. We had a lovely meal, thank you, we will definitely be back in the not too distant future.

We'd left booking a Sunday lunch a bit late and walked in off the street after lunch had finished. However the staff bent over backwards to cook us a Sunday lunch from scratch. I'm a celiac so the dinner had to be adapted for me which was done superbly. The food was absolutely delicious and the only complaint was that we didn't have room for dessert!

For the first time in about two years we were passing through Bala and staying close by so we called in and it was a very wise move. I see there have been some bad reviews but believe me our meals could not have been better. We had two full, tasty starters followed by magnificent freshly prepared pizzas.I can only think previous critics were very unlucky. Our meals were perfectly served, we chatted to the chef and the owner and enjoyed the occasion.The restaurant has an elegant feel with fresh, not plastic flowers. If you are in Bala this is the one to choose.So good we went there twice, calling in on our return trip. The result was the same!

A school reunion of seven fifty something mates had a very disappointing meal. The pizzas were very small. The bread bases seem to have been brought in and not freshly baked. The cheapest house red was £20 and rough. The waiter tried hard but was very young and inexperienced. Not a good experience. Avoid. No sign of any proper Italian staff.

Good decor and front of house staff pleasant but inexperienced. Food was the problem. My children had 2 small but just ok pizzas. My husband and I ordered roast vegetable lasagna. This consisted of stewed tasteless vegetables, mainly celery and aubergines, with an unpleasant tomato sauce and a few broken bits of undercooked lasagna sheets. This is, by far, the the worst dish I have been served in a restaurant in the last 20 years. The chef and the owner need to taste this dish and significantly improved it or remove it from the menu

We visited the takeaway, and ordered 4 pizzas. The boy who took our order was polite and understanding and helped us with toppings and changes. The food came quickly, and was tasty. Although we aren’t locals we were given a deal for cheaper pizzas during the week and also free dough balls from the boss! I visited the restaurant to use the bathroom and everything was clean and tidy. Would recommend! The pizzas had plenty of toppings and really cheesy, enjoyable!

My friends and I ordered 11 pizzas to take away from Y Cwrt. We happened to walk in just after he'd opened the kitchen, but he took our massive order (some of which was complicated due to certain dietary requirements). He let us sit in the restaurant and even offered drinks on the house while we waited! The food took longer than he said, but understandably, as it was such a large order and he was alone in the kitchen. We had also order five portions of chips, and to save the environment (which we appreciated), he put them in a reinforced bag and told us there'd probably be more than we ordered because of that. He also threw in a few free cans of pop and charged us less than the total! Also offered us loyalty cards that we couldn't use unfortunately as we were leaving. The pizza was amazing, as were the chips. An amazing experience, couldn't recommend more.

Visited Y Cwrt a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night. They have a large restaurant which we didn't visit, plus a smallish area to the right for take away food. The take away section is not dissimilar to a taxi rank actually - you go in to a quite tired looking room with two obviously well sat in white arm chairs and are greeted by menus stuck on the wall as if they are notices on a board. To order you wait at a little hole in the wall which also doubles up as a door, which enters the back kitchen where you can see the cooks buzzing around. We were greeted by a very polite young man who was obviously well versed in the art of serving take away food and was doing an excellent job. We chose off the menu on the wall and ordered two margaritas and a side of chips. The price was quite reasonable - about £12 - and the food came quickly. The young lad was very conscientious and is a credit to the place. The pizzas were 9". The pizza has been described on here as not knowing what it is ie. is it a deep pan or an Italian base, and that is very much the case. It wasn't a bad pizza at all, but the crust was a little unusual and a bit biscuity. However it filled a hole and was nice enough. The chips were huge chunky things. Unfortunately we weren't offered any condiments or had any pointed out to us but luckily I had a sachet of salt in my bag. Overall food is quite good but not amazing but what can you expect for these prices and would be just the ticket before or after a long drive in to Wales. Would go back if in the area.

14 of us decided to eat out after a tiering day. We came to this lovely looking pizza restaurant and were impressed at first. Waiting to be served was longer than you’d expect but nothing out of the ordinary, the same story with the time it took to come to our table. The food was rather greasy so we wanted some water. We decided not to buy another drink as it seemed uneconomical considering the size of the pizzas in comparison to the price (they were rather small!!!). It took us 4 attempts to even get the glasses to the table. We even asked one waiter twice. After all our attempts we did final get a glass. This made for a disappointing evening out but, did make for some funny conversation!

This restaurant was just a bit of a disappointment, the staff started off really good, helpful lady but soon went downhill after receiving our food we were disappointed with the size, as a pizza restaurant getting a pizza that looked like a child’s frozen pizza, just left me thinking where else in Bala I could get some food from afterwards.

We went to this takeaway as we were camping nearby and wanted a quick meal for the kids. Having placed our order we waited 45 mins for our food. It was quite busy that evening and there was the sound of rows and shouting coming from the kitchen.

Turned up for my bday Meal whilst on our little holidays and wow couldn't fault the food nor the service. Everything was freshly prepared and cooked to our taste. My partners steak was complete perfection and my pizza tasted as if it just arrived from Italy. Would defo travel the 2 hours purely for the food. 10 out of 10 across the board.

Overall a below-average experience - I had seen mixed reviews of this place but with so many glowing reviews we gave it a shot..

We booked this restaurant on the last evening of our holiday in Bala as it was the only one serving food after 9, there was only one other couple in there probably as it was a week night. Wish we had found this little gem earlier so that we could have returned there as the food was excellent. The staff were so nice could not do enough for us, vegetable lasagne was delicious and pizzas fab. Highly recommend a visit

Although we didn’t eat here (Shame as wished we had) had a pint of Peroni and the staff were really friendly. Place looks nice and very well presented.

We had a meal here on one of our nights stay, the food was first class and the service excellent. Very friendly staff could not do enough for us. Very clean and very tastefully decorated. Very pleased with this establishment.

We had the best pizza we have ever tasted at this fabulous restaurant in Bala. The owner is so friendly and helpful and the decor is beautiful. The building was the old Court building and it has been expertly and sympathetically adapted with a keen eye for detail. Highly recommended.

Booked this Italian in advanced when staying at Bala did read reviews which had a couple of negative reviews but still booked.Glad we did service by two young lads was excellent and food was of a good standard reasonably priced if you like pittza good choice along with several pasta dishes the chilli con carne along with doe balls went down a treat.would definitely visit again.

Everything is homemade including the chilli oil (but use sparingly). The Pizza choice was varied including vegetarian. Wonderful mixed salad.

We stopped off at Y Cwrt whilst travelling and were totally delighted by the food we were served. Lovely hummus and garlic mushroom starters and the hot New Yorker Pizzas were just wonderful; and the perfect size. Great hosts and a lovely setting. This place is definitely on our list to visit again when visiting the area.

What a great place with great people. Went there on Christmas eve, they were not open however still made some delicious food for me and mrs. Was so kind of them sparing time to cook for us on xmas eve, finger licking food. I urge everyone who visits Bala, has to go there once.

Absolutely brilliant little restaurant. Amazing pizza and Italian cuisine with lovely, homely, chatty service. Quiet due to time of season but made the experience all the More intimate.

We walked into an empty restaurant and were initially shown to a table that was to small for our group. After a bit of negotiation we were moved to a larger table.

A 2 day break in Bala found us eating here on a Friday night. The place was quiet but that didn’t put us off, ordering starters then a pasta dish and pizza. The service was quick and our request for the chef to spice up our mains was well adhered to, throw in a decent bottle of wine and we had a great experience

A wet windy night in Bala found this Italian restaurant, service with a smile, the food was excellent and portions more than ample.

My wife and I found ourselves in Bala whilst road-tripping around Wales. Not much choice of places to eat on a quiet Monday, but Y Cwrt was open, looked nice inside and we weren't disappointed. The service was swift and friendly (by the owner himself!) and he, or Maseoud as he introduced himself, guided us through the menu and took our orders. It arrived quickly and was beautiful. Shut your eyes and you could be in Naples, apart from the fact we were in a quiet Welsh town where it looks like the pace of life is gentle. We stayed longer than intended, as Maseoud revealed a little of his fascinating story - an Iranian who came to Bala to be with a girl, and stayed a little longer than planned... Our particular visit to Bala was limited by our needing to be at our overnight accommodation, but rest assured we will return soon. Such a terrific find, the sort of thing you hope for when you're just passing through with no particular plan

We visited on a quiet Tuesday night. Lovely starters and excellent pizza (and I should know, I was in Naples in May). Friendly, engaging staff.

After a few beers in a lovely local hotel my group decided on Italian with a little red wine.

After walking Bala High Street (late evening) looking for something to eat, we found Y Cwrt. Not very busy. We ended up being the only customers. Which meant great service. Family friendly restaurant. Freshly cooked meals. Lovely lasagne. Vegetarians catered for. Recommended.

We were camping on a miserable bank holiday weekend and decided to grab a pizza rather than try to cook in the rain! This place was LOVELY! You can tell that it’s fresh dough and made to order. Definitely recommend!

It was quite late and this place was still serving food so we thought we would give it a try. Inside it looks impressive and 'promising'. We were served by a young waiter who took our order for pizza and spaghetti bolognese. Firstly the table we sat on was too high for the chairs! I felt like I was an extra in Alice in Wonderland!!! The food was bland and the service incredibly slow. After finishing our mains we ordered a desert. The chocolate brownie although delicious had tin foil in it! After trying to attract attention from the staff we found them all standing around chatting to each other and the manager at the bar. We caught the managers attention to complain but she sent the young waiter over to us....very poor management i'd say as the poor young man had been told to apologise from the chef and walked away. Finally we had to wait for 20mins for someone to bring the bill...only to be told it was cash only??? Really??? Where is the sign??

Looked so lovely inside but the takeaway part was not very nice. We ordered 2 pizzas at a cost of 13.00 and they were poor and tasteless. One was thrown in the bin. What a disappointment!

Well where shall we start.... it was early so we didn't expect the restaurant to be busy, and we were the only table. Then some of the owners friends / regulars turned up and sat at the bar, chatting loudly with the owner about all manner of things. We would have quite like to have received a nice level of service, and perhaps some attention but hey ho.

We went in there before going out for a stag do and really enjoyed the pizzas we had. There was a good range of options and everything we got was tasty. We were a bit late in starting for the night but luckily the food arrived very quickly and the service staff was attentive. The owner was a very friendly and hospitable lady whilst we were there and also gave us a wave and big smile as she passed us on her bike the following day, showing her warm character further.

We had a lovely meal , great pizza’s and salad , the place had a good atmosphere .

Walked around the town and spotted this place staff lovely nice modern decor. We both had pizza and can honestly say it's probably the best pizza we've had in a long time

Our motorcycle tour company booked us at the White Lion and we were looking for a place to dine with no screaming kids.

We were staying in Bala and wanted somewhere to have an evening meal. This place didn't look too busy so we went inside. There were four of us and we were given a table quickly and given menus and the waiter took our drinks order.

Bei Bala handelt es sich um einen typisch englischen Touristenort und leider spiegelt sich das auch in der Auswahl der Restaurants wieder. Wir hatten Lust auf Pizza und unsere Gastgeberin empfahl uns dieses Restaurant. Der erste Eindruck war ganz gut, die Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen und auch das Essen stand relativ schnell auf dem Tisch. Das Essen - wir hatten jeweils eine Pizza bestellt - hatten dann leider eine sehr überschaubare Größe und waren meilenweit von einer echten italienischen Pizza entfernt. Ich würde das Geschmackserlebnis irgendwo bei "Kantine" einordnen. Nicht unterirdisch, aber auch nichts, was man noch einmal essen wollen würde. Zumindest war es preislich ok.

It was a busy weekend and there was not enough staff to attend to the bar and the restaurant. We waited for half an hour to get a menu and when we did, was informed that food would take an hour. When we did order and the food arrived, one of the dishes was lukewarm. Getting the waiters and waitresses to attend to us was frustrating because they had to attend to customers in the bar. Overall, the quality of the food and the service was poor.

This could be a top quality Italian restaurant but it is let down in certain areas. The starters of hoummos and dough balls and the soup were excellent. The pizzas were ok but the bases are like something mass produced for a pizza takeaway (they also run the takeaway next door) maybe employ a chef who makes a pizza dough which would make for better pizzas.

We had dinner early Sept just after the end of the kids school holidays and so there were probably fewer people around when we visited this restaurant. We were a bit wary having seen several poor reviews but there is limited choice for eating out in Bala. Young man serving us was pleasant and friendly and the food arrived when expected and was tasty. We enjoyed our garlic bread starter and then had lasagne and bolognese - both good, hot and filling. Nothing outstanding about this experience but we were glad not to have been put off. Give it a go. Parking on street or nearby public car park. No problems with access.

Stayed a couple of nights in Bala and visited this restaurant on Wednesday as it was our last night and was not disappointed. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I had tagliatelle chicken and my friend had spaghetti bolognese. both meals were delicious and plentiful and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Inside decor and toilets done to a high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would go back again next time we are in Bala.

Stopped in Bala on way home on Saturday and were lucky enough to get a table in this wonderful eatery. Staff seemed genuinely happy to serve us and everything we ordered was cooked to a high standard and was beautifully served. My husband had chicken tagliatelle and I had chilli con carne - both very plentiful and delicious. Good selection of wines too. Loos lean and décor above average. Great experience and we'd certainly not bother trying anywhere else in the town.

Looks great, but very poor service, if busy you could be waiting until you are past eating. You would get your pizza sooner by using the take out.

We were lucky enough to get a table on a busy Saturday evening in the height of tourist season, all the staff were attentive and helpful, especially Tomos.

We usually stop in the Bala area on north-south Wales trips, and have been disappointed by eateries in the past. So we were delighted to find Y Cwrt, which served the best pizza we have tasted in ages, together with a tasty salad and a good pud, and we will certainly visit there again. Cash only policy was odd, but not a problem with a cash point nearby. Nicely decorated, clean-looking establishment. Well-appointed lavatories (apart from a trashed coat hook) with touch-free soap dispenser and efficient Dyson hand dryer

Lasaña de mi hijo era horrible (y le encanta la lasaña) fue quemada, sabía a queso quemado, había casi cualquier salsa y fue muy desagradable, que sólo tenían 3 o 4 bocados y no podía comer nada más que estaba tan mal. Mi Pizza fiorentina fue traído a mí con un huevo prácticamente sin cocer en el medio. Mi pareja y mi hija en la ley tenía taglietelli que estaba bastante bien (aunque la pasta no era casera y era muy cocidas), pero el menú no estado que había setas y ella no le gusta, así que tenía que probar y recogerlos. Los aseos no estaban muy limpias y el lavabo de cristal estaba roto con un borde muy definido, aunque se podría decir que era un muy buen restaurante a la vez. El chico joven que estaba esperando era muy agradable y servicial, y no regatear el precio de la lasaña. No volvería allí otra vez.

Tenía dos comidas aquí - ambos muy aceptable - Primera noche sorprendido por 'efectivo sólo cuando paga la factura, no estoy seguro si esto era una situación temporal.

Decoración categoría esconde el hecho de que al final del día es básicamente en lugar de pizza bar de vinos, aunque hay que decir que nuestras pizzas eran excelentes y no me puedo quejar de la casa roja!

Ok nothing really wrong with the food but nothing special and always disappointing when things aren't available on the menu.Overheard staff saying lots of things weren't available that day.Fire alarm kept going off which wasn't particularly nice.Pizzas were ok but a little skimpy on toppings...three anchovies is rather poor. Drinks seemed very expensive....two beers and two wines over £20.Then the bill. Cash only. Why only tell us this at the end of the meal? It wasn't stated on the menu nor outside.

We were allowed to buy drinks and place an order then, after a substantial wait, the poor waiter came over to tells us there was no dough ready so there was a longer wait. We asked if we could order something without dough (this is an Italian restaurant that ran out of dough to use on a Saturday night - not good). He said not really as the chef had to cook six steaks (poor chef I hear you say!). I asked him if there was any chance at all that we would be fed, it would appear not, so we had to leave. Luckily the lovely Co-op on the high street was open so we saved a fortune and shopped there for food. A total farce!

The waitress was incredibly rude when we walked in, we asked for a table and were informed that the restaurant was full and she was unable to tell us how long we would have to wait.We had a drink at the bar and ordered food from the young waiter who was really polite.After an hour our food still hadn't arrived and the waiter apologised and said it wouldn't be long.A further 30 minute wait and we left without any food!The young waiter was exceptionally polite but other than that what a terrible disappointment.Left hungry and despondent.

We had cheesy garlic bread and lasagne both of which were good and plentiful. What lets this review down is poor wine at a premium price and indifferent service from the older waiting staff. On the night we went the card machine had broken but we didn't know until we tried to pay. They said they had put a notice up but it had gone missing...
