Would have been nice to go to if they had updated their location on maps. Drove half an hour to be greeted with a closed and empty place that hadn’t opened in months

Great food at a reasonable price

If you want Italian food, home cooked with love, then this is the place. I had the best mussels I have ever eaten. Followed by Hake with noodles, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. My partner had Lasagna made with fresh pasta, hand made by the owner herself, which he said was the best he’d eaten. We both liked it so much that we went back the following night. I would highly recommend it if you are visiting Caernarfon.

Such a little gem of a restaurant in the city centre. Wasn’t sure what we’d get on a Monday evening but we were not disappointed in any way . Luckily we’d called and booked a table at lunchtime for the same evening,fully booked,we were the last to arrive. Service was nice by two young servers. Food was great quality and value for money ,House wine was very drinkable. The whole experience was very nice . And just a short walk away from our Travelodge hotel .

Was a letdown from food to atmosphere. Tables and people squizzed together and nasty tablecloths. The toilets were in the dark with one small candle lit in each. Saving energy maybe,but you could not see much, so very unhygienic. Asked for some bread without garlic and got one single supermarked (not homemade) slice cut in half on a plate. No butter! Price....£1.50 !!!! I assume the whole loaf cost £30?!?! 🤔 No need to be that greedy since no cooking was involved in throwing it on a plate from the plastic bag. And worse,the carbonara was NOT al dente...completely overcooked. Everybody knowing their pasta, is aware that cooking it too much will ruin a dish. Especially an Italian! And that's not a matter of taste. Pasta is pasta! It was late,we were very tired and hungry. So we were stuck. We ate and left. But please do not be fooled by the reviews....this is just a tourist trap.

Dear owner I hear a lott of excuses for everything. Toilet lighting was very poor, not lanterns but a flimsy candle that barely showed where the toilet or sink was. So I do wonder how clean it was in there. And yes. I was tired therefore we eat as was too late to try another place,but not blind or without our taste buds. And it makes it even worse for you to say "it's not Italy" therefore I cook italian dishes as per local taste. Are you suggesting that the Welsh people do not know good food or how a simple pasta should be cooked?!?! BTY Through all the excuses you've had so far, I hear zero mention as to why one slice of supermarket bread cost £1.50. You have a good day!

Nice and small place. Food was not bad. However, portion sizes were adequate. Could improve on the flavors.

Arrived just after opening time (5pm). The initial appearance is quite dark, dismal, and dated, so we were apprehensive. However, the food was amazing. Creamy tasty pasta dishes, melt in the mouth burgers and tasty kids meals. Generally, the place could possibly do with a spruce up (new deco, clean some cobwebs away,) but the food was fab, and the service was swift. The only issue is that the advertising board said pizza (which we initially wanted), but there was none on the menu. Don't judge a book by its cover!

We found this place after looking on line , And very glad we did,a very pleasant dining experience I had the mushroom risotto, probably the best I’ve ever had Will certainly go back there if I’m ever in the area again

Had the cod confit. Was a good sized portion. Service was quick, efficient and the staff friendly. Even though it was early on a Sunday evening, it was busy enough. The atmosphere was great, music that wasn't too loud and was able to talk to my wife without having to raise our voices.

How lucky were we to find this great little, traditional Italian restaurant in the city centre. We were a party of 4 adults and 4 young children and we all agreed that it was great food in a lovely old restaurant with a good ambience. Can highly recommend the Pork Ribs and the pastas were exceptional. Shall certainly be returning here in the not too distant future .

What a good find this Bistro was! The food was so tasty we booked to go twice. 1st time I had Salmon with lime infused rice and hubby had lamb shank. Both amazing! 2nd time we both had lasagne. The ragu used to make it was the tastiest I have ever had.

Very busy when we arrived and waited approx 30 mins for our meal, but boy was it worth waiting for. We both chose seafood spaghetti and it was absolutely delicious. Packed with seafood and full of flavour and no heavy sauce. Highly recommend.

Booked a birthday meal at the stones bistro for my girlfriend birthday while on holiday in Caernarfon . The food was lovely,started of with the soup of the day followed by the steak which was tender and cooked just right , the peppered sauce was one of the best I've tasted . Visited here whilst staying In the area. It's a little hidden gem. We had the mussels and salmon bruchetta for starters and ribeye for our mains. The food was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious.. the 2 ladies serving us, Erin and Ella were so attentive, professional and welcoming. First impressions were not good. A grubby not so clean restaurant. Cobwebs around with dirty mirrors and grubby toilet The first course was fine then the main course was abysmal. The risotto which was mush with no sign of rice. The two carbonara resembled spaghetti soup Don’t go there if you are expecting authentic Italian food The risotto was sent back virtually untouched yet we were still charged £10 On the upside the waitress was very efficient and couldn’t apologise enough

Isn't absolutely Italian restaurant, and service was poor, normal restaurant nothing special. Many many restaurants right on Italian restaurant but more than not are Italian.

A little 45 minute trip from where I was staying was essential after eating out here previously last April, Nothing gets closer to the fine Italian culture than Stones Bistro. After having the classic dish of Bolognaise last year I just had to have it again and to be quite certain i’d say that the quality, presentation and taste was just as consistent throughout the meal as it was the year before and to think that there are people that petty to pick out the unnecessary negatives about this restaurant in previous reviews you’d think that they were talking about a completely different restaurant. Yes the interior is very dated but all the more to give it a fine Italian cultural feeling to it. If you’re lucky to read the comments provided by the owner who is a polite talented lady, i think you agree after visiting this place the staff and her are amazingly passionate about the restaurant and take good care of their customers.

A little strange place. Menu on the website wasn't updated in a while. We were hoping for a pizza, but there were no more pizzas served. Food was ok, but I've expected more for a not a cheap price.

Good food. Not easy to work out how to get in the place! Toilets were a disaster; door wedged open with a high chair, then struggled to shut as got stuck on the floor. Desperately needed decorating in there. Appears to have been painted with a sponge in blood red colour, randomly on the wall, so not appropriate in a toilet. Then the hot tap didn't seem to work, soap dispenser was empty and then the paper towel dispenser was empty so no way to dry your hands. Staff didn't seem overly happy to be there and serve. Never a smile. Disappointing as the food was nice. So the rest let it down.

When on holiday we stumbled upon this italian down a side street. The young waitresses were efficient and although not unfriendly, they were lacking in warmth, maybe unsure of themselves due to their age. In our party were 3 adults and five children and everyone was very happy with their meals. I still drool over how lovely mine was, a pasta bolognese with a fantastic depth of taste in the sauce. If I am back in Canaerfon then I will definitely visit again.

This restaurant is exceptionally old fashioned with the decor, the plates & cutlery and the food. Only one other man in there for that hour or two. Ordered Tiramisu for desert which was clearly gone off. It was so awful that I couldn’t even test a second spoonful. My friend did and it really was off. The waitress was very apologetic and said that she would inform the kitchen. The lady owner came out and told us that there was nothing wrong with it at all and she had served 14 people with it the day before. She seemed quite angry and we did not argue with her or mention it again as the waitress was so nice however, the owner came out again 10 minutes later and very firmly & rudely ranted that there was nothing wrong with her tiramisu and she had served 14 the day before etc …. I would not return or recommend.

We had a lovely evening at Stones. We loved that it was a independent traditional restaurant. Good service and tasty food.

My Fiancée and I are on our 9th Aniversary and decided to come here for our anniversary meal while staying in Caernarfon. We weren't disappointed with the food or the service 5 star the 2 young people working on Monday evening were fantastic and very professional. We are planning on another trip to Caernarfon in December and will definitely come back to the Stones Bistro

My husband and I were walking down the street fairly late looking for a bite to eat, we were weary and starving after climbing to the top of Snowden earlier. We stumbled upon this place and we couldn’t be more pleased. Everything was delicious, from the pasta to the garlic bread to the desserts, this quaint cozy place gets 5 stars, highly recommend!

We just loved the traditional feel of Stones. The young people front of house were great, and when they didn't know the answer to a question about a dish went and found the answer quickly. Our food was delicious and we really enjoyed evening. It was lovely to be in a proper restaurant not just a generic chain nonsense!

Staff were nice and friendly food was good but let down by letting people take dogs in.you don't want dogs in a restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner here. Ordered the lamb as recommended by many reviewers, and it did not disappoint! The lamb meat is tender, juicy and just slides off the bone easily. Well marinated and flavoursome. We also ordered the seafood spaghetti, which is equally good and tasty. They had a beef soup special which we tried, and its great too! Tiramisu was abit sweet for our taste bud, but should be good for those who like their dessert sweet. Overall a great dining experience with attentive service. We felt bad for those who walked past to check out the restaurant, but didnt come in. They had no idea how much they've missed out on this dining gem! Thank you for the great food and service. I love olde worlde, cosy restaurants with a nice atmosphere and lovely food, unfortunately this restaurant offered none of the above. On arriving at this restaurant, no warm welcome was given. Against my better judgement, we were shown to a table backing onto the smelly old toilet and overlooking the back of the dark old kitchen where staff were standing vaping. Three of us ordered Lasagna, and what a stodgy, bland dish that proved to be. We struggled to eat this and left most of it. When asked if our food was ok we replied that we hadn’t really enjoyed it…. No herbs or flavour, and barely any meat. The waitress took it back to the kitchen where three kitchen staff apparently tasted it and came back to us and said there was nothing wrong with it, therefore we were in the wrong. Someone else had the seabass which was cold and had to be sent back to be heated up. Whilst we were sat in this joyful place two separate couples came in, sat down & walked straight back out again. Overall a very dismal experience, poor food, shabby decor, smelly toilet, dark, dingy and soulless. Could do with a good clean and some intensive customer service training. A smile goes a long way but unfortunately this restaurant was lacking in every way. And this was me being kind 😊

My family of 4 had dinner and dessert. We were all exceedingly happy with our meals! Everything we ate was delicious. No one went away hungry or wishing they had something different. The pasta, lamb, seafood and desserts were splendid!

Upon arriving the staff were quite miserable but not rude so didn't think much of it. I ordered the carbonara and my friend ordered the seafood pasta. My carbonara just tasted like scrambled eggs in water. Tried my best but was unable to eat it. The seafood pasta was plain, dry pasta with no sauce and a mixture of seafood which was clearly frozen as it was watery and un fresh. When they came to collect our plates they asked if everything was ok with the food so we said we didn't like it but didn't go into much detail as we didn't want to offend. We are not usually the type to complain. The response from the waitress was "we've never had complaints about these before" - no apology, very defensive. The chef then came out very aggressively shouting asking who's dishes were these and was questioning us what was wrong with it so we said in more detail. It was very embarrassing as everyone in the restaurant was watching. When I said the carbonara was too eggy she stated all the ingredients how to make carbonara which was very patronizing. She claimed the water was a sauce made out of cream. Not sure why you would use cream if making a traditional Italian carbonara... Again no apology from the chef. However they did take some of the price off our dishes (we didn't expect that and weren't trying to get that but was a nice gesture) When we went to pay then they said that it was cash only which they didn't inform us at first so one of us had to go get cash out while the other stayed. No thank you or good bye when we left. Very uncomfortable experience. Felt like we were on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares! Do not recommend.

A very small bistro with not many tables. We phoned to book a table, as we tried to get a table the day before and there wasn't any availability. The food was good and our mains arrived quickly. But a party of 14 arrived and our dessert order was forgotten and we had to remind the waitress.

We went for dinner my husband enjoyed his food. I had the lasagna and it was the driest lasagna I have had and some of the cheese was burnt. The number of layers of pasta between the mince was ridiculous. The chips were like frozen chips, so probably cutting them apart makes them hand cut. My husband asked for parmesan cheese twice (got two small gratings on a plate) and then got charged for the cheese when paying the bill. He asked for fresh chilli's which the menu implied were on offer and got a jar of chilli powder. I wouldn't recommend this place for the price they charge.

Maybe it's a marmite thing, but I was disappointed in this restaurant. "Italian Fusion" left me assuming it was fused with something good, but it was more Italian pub grub. First the good The young staff were nice, and I get the impression they are good trouble shooters! I also enjoyed the breads (one normal and one garlic). As for the ham on a washing line... apparently it is a thing, but I don't think it should be! Now the not so good.. The mushroom risotto came served in 2 domes, very unusual,and not very good. The lasagna was ok, but a bit of a pub classic. (Tiny salad on the side). I didn't go to the toilet, but my daughter said it was strange, and had a bin for toilet paper as the flush was not working. The restaurant decor was old fashioned and tired, some might say traditional, but that is being generous. It is was better value for money I would give three stars, but it cost as much as a good Italian in Manchester. We didn't complain about the food, as I think they served the dish they expected. It just didn't do anything for us.

Excellent meal, very good service. We had the meat lasagna and saffron salmon pasta, and the food was a nice addition to the restaurant options in Caernarfon. This is a quaint place in a historic area.

The hand cut chips were frozen French fries covered in black burnt bits of old food. Tinned peas? Really do you think this is acceptable? The steak whilst being very tender was far too salty. Front of house staff were really helpful 5⭐️ to both of them but very disappointing meal. We don't get chance to eat out very often this experience will not encourage to do so again in a hurry.

It's ok restaurant in it's category. Nothing separating from others. Food was nice. We dined here Friday evening and it was relitively empty. It was a bit strange to get handwritten bill at this day of age. Place is lacking bit of a character.

The worst Italian we have ever been too, finding a decent restaurant in Caernarfon is a real struggle. The mountain biking is great but the food is terrible, we had to eat toast when we got back to the house. Never coming to wales again. Also Andy didn’t get his garlic bread.

Food was OK but poor rating due to surly service from staff. Didn't feel welcome, 3 menus plonked down to for a table for 5, no cutlery on the table had to ask, no napkins had to ask and take from the table next door rather than wait. Just all round felt unwelcome. Restaurant itself is nice so friendly attentive service would make this place much better.

The food is not what it should be for the price, though it's not bad. The ambiance is tired, and the service inexperienced. We had brushetta to start, lasagna and grilled sea bass for mains. The wine was forgotten ( had to remind them when the starters came), the salt mill was empty, had to ask for pepper. My fish was good, the chips hand made, and the lasagna was tasty. But for the same price we had a much better meal in a nicer place with a full bottle of wine just 5 minutes away at Villa Marina.

Called in on spec and had the most delicious seafood spaghetti. Couldn't be improved on, and then apero spritz sorbet. Highly recommended, and the staff are delightful too.

Small but perfectly formed, made really welcome by the friendly hard working waiter. The food was very good and really fresh and tasty, and particularly impressed with the attention paid to provide the young ones in our group the food they wanted which was not on the menu that evening. Visited based on the local trip advisor ratings and was underwhelmed with its over rated status to be honest It was a quaint setting and very much part of the attempts at Italian authenticity let down by the cheap welsh flags and mixed decor. Menu inside is not what is on offer outside. Seafood pasta tempting outside including "2 scallops" inside no scallops mentioned on menu and none appeared in our dishes when ordered. Inside menu is reduced in choice and ingredients inside. As a table of four two of us ordered the above mentioned scallop free dish. Mine did not arrive and I had to ask about its whereabouts!! Were they catching fresh fish for it ? No it had not been put through so my dish arrived two thirds into my families consumption of their meal! The food was enjoyable but table service a bit faulty towers level The drunks were basically dropped in front of us by the young waitress, to the point where we thought one of us thought we would be wearing it!!! A second round of 'identical' drinks were thrust at us as a gesture of good will for the late arrival of my food which was appreciated had it been done with some sort of apology/ manners. identifying the correct colour wine for my wife would not have gone a miss. The better option would have been an apology and removal of our ordered drinks instead. As I was driving a second beer was inappropriate in these circumstances. To assist in the service provided I suggest 1. they have an experienced server who can address customer complaints/ service issues 2. The staff are trained in which glassware is used for which drink. A gin glass is not for rose wine !!! I had to ask for the correct glass! If serving 330ml bottled beer use half pint glasses. Not one with a pint and the other with a shorts glass! Neither suitable or professional 3. Use matching crockery for the same dishes. Seafood pasta in a bowl yes. Mine on a dinner plate no! I like rustic but not "outback" 4. Sort out window display to reflect what is truly available and expected inside. Doesn't take a lot to put daily CORRECT menu up.
