Ty coffi in Gwynedd

We come to Bala frequently but today felt hungry and saw the welcoming tables outside - as we had our dogs we thought we try for lunch and amazing place… food great and friendly service! Our dogs we fine outside. Highly recommend for anyone with dogs - they do allow both inside and out. Food prices are reasonable.

Have visited this establishment a number of times over the years and can say the standard of food and value for money never changes. The food is great! Good portion size and very tasty. Service is always welcoming and quick. I have no hesitation in recommending this cafe.

3rd time visiting, twice in the last week on our way to Porthmadog and travelling back, definitely our favourite place to stop for an amazing cappuccino, the best cake ever had, this time the lemon and blueberry, just divine, and the most lovely friendly and helpful service. Highly recommend. Going back again in 6wks time for sure.

This place is set up as at the church on the main High Street and it was a welcome find on our part. It had been a long drive down from Manchester and we were ready for something to eat and this place proof perfect. We were given a very warm welcome and seated by the window. The coffee was about as good as coffee gets and the brie and cranberry baguettes were both delicious and filling. The staff were helpful and there was a nice atmosphere even though it was really quite quiet so this place is definitely worth a visit.

Popped in for a light lunch today and ordered a filled baguette and tea. Service was friendly, and the food was excellent value for money. Portion sizes were great. Highly recommended.

Credit to the staff on the day we went as there was nearly 70 of us and they managed us superbly. I was concerned when I seen sausages, bacon and even pancakes go into a microwave but my sausage bap was actually very nice and the pre cooked food on this occasion ensured everyone was quickly served. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, we were also offered the pub next door to sit and eat as it was chilly outside. Coffee was good but not excellent but all in all a fantastic visit.

They were very busy but still gave excellent customer service. All the staff had smiles and were super efficient. Food was excellent too. Thank you, we will be back when we visit, to do park run again 😄

For context more good than average , nice spot - ate outside , good selection of sandwiches for lunch. All preferences catered for. Good coffee and a central spot which seems popular. Two fresh and tasty sandwiches eaten in the sunshine , all round a good experience.

The coffee and cake were good. However, I ordered my hot chocolate without cream and marshmallows. When it came with them (and I'd unknowingly paid almost £5 for the privilege), I went up to the counter and politely asked for it to be changed. I was shocked at the grumpy reception. They brought me a new one, but did not refund me for the difference, even when I mentioned it. Couldn't help but feel disappointed and it really ruined the experience.

The service here is impeccable. I asked for a Lemon and Ginger tea, and although they did not have any in stock, and I would have changed my order, one of the staff offered me one of their personal ones. Such commitment to customer service is amazing. Thanks.

Full breakfast has NO MUSHROOMS, NO FRIED BREAD, NO BLACKPUDDING, NO TEA/COFFEE. For £10.00 ! The bacon and sausage is grilled, all I could taste was BURNT BACON, the plate was cold, the beans just warm and the bread was very cheap yet the eggs were fried !! This guy has no idea, go somewhere else.

The food was lovely and the staff were pleasant and polite. I took a group of people with learning disabilities here and they don't accept cash which excluded some of the people. It's incredibly demeaning and discriminatory to those who don't have card accounts for whatever reason. Very disappointed to find this sort of attitude has spread to Bala.

Called in whilst passing through Bala as it was almost the only cafe open when we visited. So glad we did, it was a real find. A warm welcome, plenty of seating including settees and good quality and value coffee and scone. A place to call into if you are passing through Bala and one we would certainly return to, maybe for lunch next time !

Called in for breakfast - asked for a bacon roll and a latte. Couldn'n wish for anything better. A roll filled with lovely crispy bacon - just what was needed. Not only was the food good but the welcome was even better. Next time I'm in Bala I will be calling in here once again. Diolch am y croeso a'r bwyd.

Popped in here for a spot of lunch, first it was dog friendly which a few others weren’t in Bala. Secondly the service was friendly, lots of choice for lunch and hot drinks and the service was speedy. The food was spot on.

Visited for a quick lunch, and was not disappointed. Coranation chicken baguette, side salad and crisps. Large portion and good value for money.

This cafe was o k. The coffee was expensive but nice. The staff not very customer friendly. The cakes all looked bought in not homemade and didn’t tempt us at all. Not enough toilets for such a busy place.

This wasn't actually our planned stop but our first choice, the cafe bistro down the road, didn't allow dogs in. But, we're so glad we came here. Great service, amazing value and a delicious lunch.

Walking through Bala, came across Ty coffi on the high street by accident and so thought we'd give it a go. Nice morning café latte & cake for the kids in Bala. Free tap water for the non-coffee drinkers. Friendly helpful staff. Lots of seating...

Popped in while in the area for some lunch and enjoyed a toastie and beans of toast with a milkshake and a cup of tea. Service was good and the facilities were clean and welcoming.

Stopped at this cafe twice during our holiday near Bala for lunches. Lovely seating outside, friendly and efficient staff and really good food, presented well and in good sized portions. Clean facilities inside and out. Would definitely return if back in the area.

Very clean place , plenty of wholesome choices and some naughty treats, clotted cream and homemade scones. Set up with plastic screens around tables so we had our own little " pod " Friendly staff .

A very clean, Dog friendly place that has great coffee and nice food. The Jacket spuds we had for lunch were huge and delicious..

We visited as a family and it felt very covid secure, the service was very quick and the portions were large! The kids especially enjoyed the pancakes!

Great service and the best covid measures we’ve seen since being here. Really lovely place, highly recommend. It’s also really really well priced, will be coming back for the pancakes! Excellent seating areas inside and out. Really impressed.

Walked out, during these Covid times, I was alarmed at the lack of hygiene measures by the food preparation staff, no gloves or mask during food prep.

Great selection of savoury and sweet food on offer. Plenty of tables outside. Food was delicious, especially the cake which tasted like the very best of homemade baking. Staff very pleasant, good social distance practices and everything very clean. Great visit.

Popped in yesterday for a light lunch. The establishment was fully adhering to social distancing measures. The food and drink was excellent and for what we had was very good value for money. Will definitely recommend this cafe and will visit again in the future.

Went in this morning for a large breakfast with my hubby. What excellent value for money. Friendly service and very clean. Plenty of room to move around. We definitely will be back.

We enjoyed breakfast here one rainy Saturday morning after checking out of our holiday accommodation. They serve tasty buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and/or bacon for a very reasonable price (£2.95/£3.95, I think). There is indoor and outdoor seating and also a take away service available. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The only improvement would be larger teapots! Other than that we really enjoyed our visit.

Lovely, warm feel, welcomed and service was lovely. Food was fab and nothing too much trouble. Don’t overlook this place. Keep it local!

We were really surprised how good the food was here. Very fresh and imaginative. Quiche with cranberry sauce inside for example! I can see why its popular, the food was very good.

Following a busy morning out we returned to Bala in need of a quick bite to eat and a cup of tea. The sandwich hit the spot and was just what we were looking for. The portion sizes were very generous and there was a good selection of fillings. Service was quick and friendly.The cake also looked great, sadly we couldn't fit a slice in!

We were staying at the local Featherdown farm and wanted a quick cup of coffee and some toast before heading off from Bala.Cant fault it, a decent cup of coffee and the bread for the toast was very nice.The cafe is also dog friendly and has a good size outdoor seating area.

Busy - so joined the queue.Notice said place order at counter. However it was clear that the welsh speaking locals, with their loyalty cards, can place their orders over the display cabinet before reaching the till. Also at £30 plus not particularly good value for money. 2 bagettes, a bap & 4 teas!

Stopped at this place for a break during a recent trip to Wales. The food, service and overall view of the restaurant were very good. The coffee was that good I had a second cup. The food was really good and not overly expensive. They even had treats on the side for dogs.

Visited Saturday afternoon, completely ignored us staff more interested in talking to each other. Hard luck Ty Coffin we visited your competitors down the road (Y Cyfnod) and were greeted with a smile and attentive staff. Don't bother folks visit Y Cyfnod instead.

Popped into this cafe and had two hot drinks and two plated salads, ham and a tuna salad both with two sides of coleslaw and potato salad. Plenty of it and very tasty. Great value for money. Recommended.

Usually I’m not keen on different types of bread, but here, they actually did bread that I ate! Plus, the Victoria sponge was lovely!

This is a spacious cafe on Bala high street. It serves a range of sandwiches and baked potatoes as well as the usual selection of drinks. There is usually a good deal available whereby you can get a scone with tea or coffee for less than £5. The cafe is dog-friendly and a selection of free doggy snacks is available for your faithful friend.

Rude on the first visit, nothing changed a year later when we decide on a second visit. Couldn't comment on the food as we never got that far...

Decided to have a mid afternoon coffee and cake with my wife and youngest child. We all had a filter coffee, I had a scone which was the size of a football, my son had chocolate cake and my wife Lemon Drizzle. All 3 were outstanding and very reasonably priced. The staff were great and the place is dog friendly.

I stopped here for lunch whilst out on a long bike ride. I'd heard some good reviews and wasn't disappointed. The food and coffee are excellent, as is the friendly service. I'll definitely be back.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch here on a rainy day in Bala. We choose it because it allowed dogs inside and weren’t disappointed. The quiche was one of the best I’ve ever had and the scones are huge and very tasty.

At one end of main shopping street this cafe has outdoor and indoor seating with a lot of comfy chairs. Plenty of cakes on offer but only GF pre packaged which was a shame. Lunches available good selection. No GF bread.

Very dog friendly , dogs allowed inside and out , huge jars dog treats to help yourself to , dishes of water outside at every table for your pooch , lovely food drinks and staff

Just a quick stop for afternoon munch , really glad we did great coffee and Earl Gray - very helpful and chatty waitress who told us of some spots to visit and we did - lovely we would have missed them if not for Her ( sorry forgot to get her name but thanks x x )

We just popped in for tea and cake and a chance to sit down in the sun adjacent to the busy main street in Bala. The lemon cake was fine but the cream provided with the scone was off, which was a shame.

Stopped off in Bala as we usually do on the way to the coast - sign outside said cafe so expected to get breakfast but the lady on the counter said “we don’t do sausages”???? We settled for coffee and tea and drove on hungry.

We remembered from visiting 2 years ago we had lovely food and the staff were a bit off but thought we’d give it another go as they may have been having a bad day and we were passing through Bala and very hungry. Omg!!!! Everyday must be a bad day in this place as they are extremely rude, unwelcoming and not at all pleasant! It’s a good job the place itself is lovely and the food is nice because the staff really do let this place down. I wouldn’t go back for this reason.

Unwelcoming staff. The only thing special about the ‘kids special’ was the stale bread. Eating in will cost an extra £2 per meal, Won’t be returning!

After us asking for GF options we were pointed to row of prepackaged usual cake bars. Ordered two tuna salads, lattes and a GF cake bar. The salad arrived with croutons on the top? . Advising one of the party can’t eat wheat and croutons not ordered/required waitress told us we were better off picking the croutons off as we wouldn’t want her to do it !! Advised any crumbs would cause health issues and they reluctantly did the platter again. No we didn’t ask for no croutons, yes they did know beforehand we had food intolerances. One meal was represented as a fresh dish? as it was being eaten my partner had to spit out mouthfuls of food because it STILL HAD croutons in it.

We were having a lovely day out in Bala & had looked in many interesting little shops as we walked the sunny side of the street. We crossed over to return in the shade & saw Ty Coffi with lovely outside tables with parasols. However there was not enough breeze for us to sit out, so we sought the cooler charms of the inside. Everything looked clean & tidy & as the lunch-time rush had ended, we were able to order at the counter straight away. Lovely sandwiches & cold drinks were served by friendly staff who dropped effortlessly into English or Welsh as each customer preferred.

WE were staying in Bala and visited on a Sunday morning. It was open and the staff were friendly, Furniture was comfortable and clean. Free WiFi as well. Toilets were clean. Food and drink was served quickly and hot.

Called in for a late lunch. Selection seemed ok and when my husband's and mum's sandwiches arrived they looked good but my husband's chicken sandwich had only a very thin slice of chicken in it and my mum's egg mayo sandwich had onion in it... weird. My baked potato was fine. Service was not with a smile! Wouldn't go again.

Been there twice during our visit to Bala. Fab coffee, cakes and sandwiches. Very good value for money. Full of locals in and out all day so good atmosphere. Recommended.

Popped in for quick lunch with kids. Good selection of food both hot and cold and good seating area. Just a shame the staff don’t know about customer service. Served wrong order and told it was our fault!

Stopped off in Bala on the way to near Caernarfon for a quick bite to eat and ended up in Ty Coffi. Lots of seating and comfy chairs. Had a high chair for our 1 year old which was clean. Ordered the pancakes and maple syrup - really delicious although the syrup seemed flavoured somehow? Staff were friendly and made a fuss of our daughter. A nice place to stop off for a bite to eat.

Nice little modern coffee shop. Serves some lovely food and the coffee was pretty good too! Well worth a visit if you are popping into Bala!

Went to eat in as snowing heavy outside, had a warmed ciabatta and a coffee that tasted really good.

Popped in whilst waiting for my son who was doing his driving test, got a latte which was lovely and stayed hot , lady who served me was friendly and wifi code on display so listened to the radio on my phone.

Staff is not friendly. And can have my buget at 15.30 its stop surviving..not happy at all not nise please if you visiting

Stopped off for lunch on a cycle tour of Wales. Great food, friendly service. Lots of choice from baguettes, pannini's and baked potatoes to suit all. We were there on a lovely day and there was loads of space outside. But if the weather had been worse there was still plenty seating inside. Great spot and finished of with some great cake and coffee

The staff are all friendly and keen to help. They accept well trained dogs and even better trained owners. They have a good selection of Breakfast and Lunch that looked good but also and more importantly there are some home made cakes and they are to die for. Out of this world their cakes are good to look at and far far better to eat. Some old favourites as well as good new flavours. I had Blackcurrant with butter cream, not at all good for my diet but what a gorgeous guilty pleasure. This place alone is worth the hassle of parking in Bala. Totally disabled friendly too.

Been here before a couple of summers ago. Lets get the basics out of the way. Modern, pleasant ambience, buzzing...

called in for lunch today busy little cafe! We ordered cheese sandwich on brown without salad and prawn sand on brown also with salad but NO onion and 2 cappucinos. Coffee was lovely and fresh, waited a while for sandwiches they arrived both with salads and both with onions!!! The cheese we expected to ne tasty local cheese butvwas dissapionted as it tasted like ready grated catering value cheese! The doorsvwere open aa it was a beautiful day but smoking outside spoilt it as it came into the cafe!! we were dissapointed!

Called in for a cup of tea and teacakes etc. Pleasant enough and dog friendly, which is always a boon. Plenty of staff on and order arrived quickly. No extra hot water, but they willingly refilled the teapot when asked.

Called in to Ty coffi for a sandwich and coffee we wanted to 'take out' as we were planning on a walk by Bala lakeWe ordered at the counter all seemed ok!The prawn baguette was beautifully presented we left the cafe and it had started to rain so we sat on the bench outside rather than eat a soggy baguette by the lake!The waitress came outside and said 'your not supposed to sit here as you have paid to take out' we looked around and we were the only people outside there were about 10 empty tables!Over £15 for 2 baguettes and 2 coffees! We will not be going back because of the waitresses rudeness

This cafe advertises availability of gluten free food. They have a range of home made cakes but not even one was gluten free. On the day I visited the best they could offer was 2 small repackaged biscuit type things or a baked potato!!!!!  We came here last year and the only way I could eat was to find some GF rolls in a local store and come back and select a GF filling from the sandwich range on offer.  Poor for gluten free options and yet another disappointing visit for that reason

Just dropped in for lunch. Big group of us, adults and kids.Lots of room, lovely atmosphere, food was nice - range of sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Eat in prices were quite pricey, and extra £2-£3 to eat in which didn't seem that reasonable, maybe an extra £1-£1.50.Sandwiches a bit basic but potatoes were really nice, good coffee.

The food was nice with great coffee, the restaurant is clean tidy and a joy to visit. the only down side is its expensive.

We had latte, tea, Victoria sandwich and welsh cakes. The single shot latte was served with the coffee to one side - so I could add as much as I wanted. And the Welsh cakes were warmed for me and served with butter - just as I like them! We liked it so much we stayed for another hot drink, while we watched other people sting outside it the rain - why would they do that? Lovely place: good food, good drinks, good prices.

Stopped in Bala for a walk and lunch on our way home. Came across Ty Coffi on the high street and it looked really good, best around the area. I had a baguette and my wife a ciabatta. The quality of the bread, roast turkey and salad were great and lots of it! Staff were efficient and provided great service. We'll stop here again next time we pass through!

We have just stopped off in Bala on our return to Cheshire from Barmouth and decided to stop off in Bala for a spot of lunch. Having read Trip Advisor reviews, we were happy to see that Ty Coffi was on the far edge of town, just before a large car park where we could safely park up our caravan and car. It's clearly #1 on TA for a reason: the decor is attractive and somewhat quirky, with a central station made of wooden crates for cutlery, condiments, napkins and so on, plus baskets, wooden floor, chairs and tables. There's a decent menu offering sandwiches, baps, baguettes, salads and jacket potatoes plus a deliciously tempting array of cakes. We opted for a prawn Marie Rose sandwich with extra egg and a jacket potato with cheese and beans plus a slice each of lemon cake and chocolate cake. We took the food back to our caravan - much cheaper to take out than eat in - and tucked in. The sandwich was first class: fresh bread and plenty of filling. The jacket was super tasty and piled high with filing. The cakes were out of this world! My lemon was moist and so lemony and OH's chocolate was gooey and rich. I was pleased he couldn't manage the last mouthful so I could sample it!I'd highly recommend Ty Coffi and we'll definitely call again next time we come this way.

During a long weekend in Bala, we popped in on several occasions for lunch and coffee with the mandatory slice of cake. Great location, outside and inside dog friendly areas, with a good selection of food and drinks.If your staying locally or passing through Snowdonia, stop off for a well earned break and treat yourselves!!

The only other lunch options are Spar and Coop and there are other cafés which do food but they are dated.
