Fantastic location. Very efficient and friendly staff. The food is outstanding and the staff really know what they are presenting you with . We ate in both nights and also had a cream tea all of it was superb especially the turbot. The hotel is very clean and lovely and warm. We took a walk when the rain stopped, the grounds are stunning and very well maintained

Superb experience; We were on a break from Cornwall for a few days and visited The Tom Cobley Tavern 2 days on the trot for lunch. We were made very welcome as was our dog, great hospitality, fine ales and a very extensive and all round superb food choice. Landlord, daughter and team made us feel really welcome, old school, unfussy and welcoming, we will definitely be back!

Found restaurant staff to be abrupt and patronizing. The member of staff who took our order was pleasant and gave us a table bleeper which we assumed was for our whole order including coffee. When our hot food arrived before our coffee we asked the helpful person about our coffee, she said she'd enquire. I followed her and was told our coffee had gone cold and I should have waited at the counter. I explained this hadn't been communicated to us to which both members at the coffee machine argued. They could have actually asked it the restaurant who had ordered a flat white coffee? Instead they chose to stand there talking as the restaurant only had 5 tables employed!!! Just find it amazing that they couldn't walk around the counter and shout out order! Most unhelpful and patronizing.

Actually came here first in September and was so impressed we made a special journey to come back in October for a birthday celebration. It was a lovely dinner off the specials board of pumpkin, bean and sausage stew in a giant Yorkshire pud. Followed by strawberry cheesecake. Delicious. Service was good and timely even though it was very busy coming up for Halloween. Thank you for making my day.

Such a shame they’ve closed So glad we had the chance to stay at this magical place run by a lovely couple & a slightly arthritic golden retriever. Best full English I’ve had & magnificent dinner. If you see this by some chance, you may be gone but aren’t forgotten. Simon Rhodes

We visited with friends and were initially impressed by the beautiful location. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was extremely disappointing. The ingredients seemed low-quality and poorly prepared—for example, the roast potatoes were soft and slimy, more like over-boiled than roasted. The carvery overall was very underwhelming: the stuffing was dry and tasteless, the cheesy leeks lacked any noticeable cheese, and the cabbage was overwhelmingly vinegary. The meat was dry, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy, and while the gravy was passable, it tasted like a cheap, mass-produced option. Service didn’t help the experience either. The staff member serving at the carvery was noticeably unfriendly, which added to an already negative impression. Additionally, the plates provided were unusually small, which felt intentional given the price of £15.95 per person. Sadly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory. I would not return and cannot recommend it to others
