Hog & Hedge in West Devon

The first time we stopped here on our way to Cornwall, the staff were really lovely. We had a bacon sandwich, beautiful thick, fresh white bread, highly recommended.

Stopped here by accident, so glad we did. The place is warm and inviting,the staff are welcoming and so pleasant and the food was lovely and filling. My wife and myself both had the whole hog breakfast, the toast was thick and hot, the sausages are real farmers and the potatoes are nice and crispy, absolutely perfect. We both finished it and sat there afterwards feeling very full and satisfied. Would happily go again and recommend it to other people.

Second time we have been here, and will mostly likely be back. Service is excellent, food is better than adequately average and reasonably priced. Atmosphere is friendly and dogs are welcome which is great for us.

Quick stop off for a takeaway coffee, staff lovely, loos immaculate and coffee brilliant.

Expensive coffee. £4.70 for a regular sized take away cup. Had better from a Costa and Starbucks machine.

This is a lovely restaurant with good food and very friendly staff. we had the full breakfast, and it was beautifully cooked ( perfect poached eggs ) and presented well, with tea coming in a teapot. The main thing for me was the lady who took our order, she was particularly welcoming thankyou

Nice place, the food looks good but £8.60 for two pretty small takeaway coffees which were, to be perfectly honest, not that great is just taking the ££££. Won't be stopping here to grab a coffee again.

This is the PERFECT spot to stop off on the way to Cornwall. It is 5mins from A30 so easily accessible. The food is fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. It is ideal for toddlers with an enclosed indoor play area. The staff are friendly and service excellent. Highly recommend

Not been for months. Fabulous, friendly staff. Great food. Proper coffee. Sausages for our mini dachshund. Great to see customer service back, was not a fan of self serve. The ladies were bubbly and friendly, love good customer service and this place have got it back in spades. Will definitely start putting this place back on our stop off points whilst travelling.

Our preferred stop on the way to Cornwall. This time we left early and stopped at the Hog & Hedge for breakfast, which I could not fault. The Hog & Hedge prides itself in using good local ingredients and it shows. Staff are always friendly and brought the food to the table as it was not very busy. It is always clean. Dogs are welcome and you can take them for a walk straight from the car park.

Quick stop for coffee and comfort break. Word of caution, you need to input your vehicle reg if you're planning a stay over 1.5 hrs as you enter. It didn't apply to us, but only saw the machine as we left?

A lovely, clean coffee shop. All the Staff were friendly and polite. The coffee was perfect and the food was delicious. Hog and Hedge was extremely busy but the service was impeccable. Well done to all the Staff.

This motorway / Travelodge services puts all others to shame. Fabulous service & great food. Limited menu, but when it is done so well, it doesn’t matter.

Highly recommend H and H, the bacon sandwiches were delicious and served on hearty bread. High quality ingredients and condiments. Pretty setting and gardens. Didn't feel like you were at any old services!!

A brilliant alternative to a service station. Nice food, plenty of seating. Great changing spot of you have a baby - nicely laid out.

Beautiful place to stop over. Play area for little ones too which is a godsend for parents of toddlers on car journeys. Food is exquisite, amazing pulled port and roasted potatoes.

Without doubt one of the best..if not the best services I've stopped at. Completely natural fresh cooked food, dog friendly and super clean.

The food is cooked to order and comes from locally sourced farms. The quality is of a very high standard and a lot of effort is put into the whole customer experience. I cannot wait to go again

Looks like a great place. I just used the facilities, which were very clean.

As you can see, from the pics, I spent a lot of time here. I had 2 breakfasts, one brunch, one dinner. The food is of good quality. The atmosphere is nice. Big and spacious and tidy. There's also a small area for additional shopping of local items. I had the potato and leek soup with bread. Both were yummy. Loved that focaccia bread. I also enjoyed the cheese and caramelized onion toastie. Quite simple and filling. Really good quality granary bread. Had one full English breakfast, was good. And a breakfast sandwich on another day. The staff is friendly and courteous. Service is excellent.

What a find! You don’t expect this quality and service from a motorway services. The best quality good, absolutely delicious. Well presented, lovely staff and environment. A real treat! Let’s hope more can follow!

Really good food, a hidden little gem!

We stopped off to use the toilet and ended getting some food for the kids . The food was a little bit pricey but all delicious food .

Avoid all service stations on the M5 after Bristol for this little charmer with its plentiful cake options! HOWEVER, can get very crowded in the summer and closes at 1700 on weekdays, even earlier in the winter months.

Little service stop. The inside of the building and facilities were great. The car park was a bit of a nightmare. On arrival a large lorry delivering something was blocking the one way system in thr car park causing a blockage. There was no warning of this until cars were already a bit stuck. Once this sorted itself out it was fine.

Staying nearby and went here for Sunday lunch. Our little dog was welcome and the server brought her a biscuit. The self-service station was easy to navigate. We all chose pulled pork toasties and they were yummy. Coffee was really good, so much smoother than Costa.

Nice little stop off on the way to Cornwall. Had a tasty bacon sandwich with a very pleasant cup of coffee. Toilets are clean and modern. Parking was a bit awkward though due to temporary closures.

The quality of the bacon and sausage was very good. I also had lunch (pulled BBQ pork with triple cooked potatoes) and it was extremely good. Recommend for sure!

What a lovely find this place was. We had meant to stop at Exeter but missed the exit. I'm so glad we did! Great coffee, pasties as they should be. Friendly staff and ..... they allow dogs in! We will definitely be stopping here on future trips.

Brilliant place to stop on the way down to Cornwall. Great coffee with perfect amenities for children. Our 19 month old loved it and a safe place to get out some energy, with clean toilets and a separate place for children’s changing.

Good cafe. Clean toilets. Needs to get the parking area sorted out as the space needs to be optimised, picnic benches for people using it as a service station would be good.

We had a delicious cup of soup during our stop on our way to Cornwall for the weekend! Something more special than your normal drudgery service station rest point and one to be recommended!

Invigorating stop. Great rest & grub on the way Cornwall. We stopped here about midway through a road journey and it was a pleasant surprise. The spot houses a small eatery that feels somewhere between a farm to table Cafe & quiet pub. The menu looked good but we didn't have time to dine, we went for teas & a package of Cornish fudge - lovely, though the hot chocolate drink was a bit more bitter than I'm used to. The atmosphere was clean and modern, but had a cozy feel to it. The staff were quick and helpful, all smiles.

Hog and Hedge is well worth a visit the food was delicious and the staff were helpful and friendly I would definitely recommend stopping there

Not alot of choice of food on the menu and the previous packed sandwiches are almost £6 each but they were good sandwiches

Great breakfast en route back home. I had smoked trout and poached eggs (goooood eggies!) and my husband a full hog breakfast. All served very promptly. All very dog friendly with water bowls and treats available. Possibly the friendliest staff I've ever met 😊 Would stop off again . Thanks Hog and Hedge gang 🥞🍳 🦔 🐖

A bit overpriced but very nice.

We had a lovely breakfast here. The food was fresh, tasty and good value, the staff were friendly and we could take the dog in with us. It was well worth the short diversion from the A30.

This was such a relief after so many awful service stations - yes, it's not cheap, but neither are any stop-offs. At least this is good quality! Really excellent coffee, calm pleasant atmosphere, even a children's play corner.

The menu looked great and it was recommended by a friend, unfortunately when we got there it was full, so ended up having a quick sandwich from the petrol station and sat on the benches around the outside of the car park. Will definitely try again when we pass next time.

ONLY TAKE CARD. NOT GOOD DICTATING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES TO WALK OUT EMPTY HANDED. Carry on down the road to the truck stop. Freshly cooked food and great service.

Bit of like a farm shop food is very expensive.But had what you need parking was easy.Toilets were clean a good stop off on the way to somewhere Disable access Not. Really a place I would return to.

Fresh food delivered quickly, much nicer to sit in than your usual service station stop. We both had the roasted veg toastie with goats cheese, could have done with a bit of extra seasoning. Friendly staff and good coffee.
