So many flavours to choose from and all made freshly each day by Massimo himself.
Top tip, get there early!
We booked a Sunday lunch here for 5. We were greeted in a professional and warm manner. Nothing was too much trouble. We had the window seating which was perfect for watching the world go by on a cold December day. The Sunday iunch offered beef, pork, lamb or chicken. We chose a mixture of beef and pork, both cooked the way they should be. There was a full range of fresh vegetables. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy within, the Yorkshire pudding deserved a plate of its own! One of our party had eaten here previously so was able to recommend a lovely red wine from Chile. Will return for sure. Highly recommended.
Had a meal at Romney Bay House Restaurant and it was exceptional.
A delicious array of canapes awaited, including some red pepper pearls, to accompany our pre-dinner drinks, before we were called into Dinner. A fish course, of sea bass, was our first course, which was moist and tasty, followed by Duck, again, cooked to perfection, next up was a fresh, light pastry fruit tartlet, accompanied by cinnamon ice cream, was next.
The final course was a selection of cheeses, all chosen to compliment the meal and not too heavy or overpowering in taste. Coffee (or tea) and Petit fours were then served in the lounge area, to complete the meal perfectly.
The service was attentive and all dietary needs were requested at the time of booking, and reiterated before the food began to be served.
Highly recommended and we felt very good value, based on the quality and presentation of the meal, which was certainly en par with Michelin Starred and Rosette restaurants, that we have visited.
This is a lovely local shop and a real asset to Hythe High Street. It's a friendly place and very helpful with lovely chocolates, ice cream and coffee. What more could you want!
Great Friday evening with friends at Finns - always a warm welcome from the owner Al and the burgers are amazing. Lots of local faces and a real community feeling about the place.
Stayed the whole evening which went very quickly.
The food is quite good, can be a bit dry, but not too bad, food is nice and cheap, the card readers are really slow, but you get £2 free for lunch, which is well good, henceforth, in conclusion, I highly recommend checking it out, as long as you have 15 years to wait for the card readers (they dont take cash)
This is a great space for a quick break on the harbour arm. Great host, fab coffee and treats. Still has some of the signal box original features too if you're into that. Go visit!
We had the halloumi burgers and they are simply the best we have ever tasted! Very fresh, well cooked and sooooo tasty. We will always come back here every time we go to Hythe. Simply the best!
Lovely little tearoom just by the park and round the corner from the station. I would say good value for money, friendly service and a warm welcome.
They are also run as part of the local college to allow students with learning difficulties to gain life skills so not only do you get a lovely drink and welcome, you are also helping a local business support our young people.
If you are passing go in and have a sit down, there are a few tables on the ground floor but also a room upstairs seating about 8 for meet ups, afternoon teas, etc.
If you are off to London for the day start it off with a quick visit there, they are open 10.00 till 3.00.
A little gem of a place and dog friendly as well, what is there not to love?
I’ve driven past Mama’s Hut countless times, always too close to home to stop by. What a mistake that was! Recently, I decided to give it a try, and I’m thrilled I did.
The burger stack caught my eye—the guy in front of me ordered it, and it looked impressive. But my heart was set on a simple bacon roll. Fate had other plans, though, as I ended up ordering Mama’s homemade beef burger. And let me tell you, it was excellent! The flavours, the juiciness—it was a delightful surprise.
But that’s not all. I returned to sample more of Mama’s offerings. The chicken curry transported me back to my childhood—the familiar spices, the warmth—it was like a comforting hug. And then there was the jerk chicken with jollof rice and the fried haloumi wrap. Each bite was a burst of flavour, definitely worth the short drive out.
Mama’s Hut is more than just a food stop; it’s a culinary adventure. The lovely hostess, the soulful music—it all adds to the experience. Next time I’m near the Brenzett roundabout, you can bet I’ll be making that two-minute detour to Mama’s Hut. We’ll definitely be going back! 🌟
