The yummiest fudge in all of Bodiam, great value and the kids love it! Perfect situation next to the steam train- make a day of it!

Came for just tapas and drinks, food was amazing and reasonably priced and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the different spurts and recommended well. Nice atmosphere

We have had lunch here many times, but, last nights dinner experience was incredibly disappointing. Many issues, but to name a few- Waitress was obviously having a bad day, attitude was positively rude. It was one hour between arrival and food to the table. And, when it arrived the order was incorrect. The vegan burger came between two small slices of what appeared to be cheap supermarket bread. The food certainly wasn’t up to the standard we have had in the past. It looked like a number of tables were having problems. We later regretted leaving the optional tip that was included in the bill. We will no longer be recommending it, or visiting again, such a shame.

I chose this hotel because of its location and the fact it had a bar and restaurant and was dog friendly. Unfortunately I when I visited the bar and restaurant were both closed so had to find some where to eat for my self. On the up side the breakfast was brilliant. They laid a table in the bar area so my dog could join me and even gave him his own sausage. The breakfast was very well cooked with quality ingredients and plenty of it.

We stayed at The River Camp at The Hub with a group of 11 mums and 17 children this weekend and had the most amazing time. The camp itself is absolutely stunning, located next to the river and surrounded by fields with a direct view of Bodiam Castle. The children (aged from 3 to 11) spent the weekend swimming, paddle boarding, playing football for hours, exploring the woods and bbqing, it really was idyllic. The huge communal table under a covered area with a large bbq was brilliant as were our own showers and loos, it felt like everything had been thought of. We also visited the cafe at The Hub for breakfast on the morning of our departure, and despite being busy, all of our meals came really quickly, were made with quality produce and well presented, mine was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. The whole party agreed that this is the best campsite we’ve been to so far and we can’t wait to return.

Table of 6, we were put on a very small table for 6 people, we had hardly any room to manoeuvre. All the roasts arrived but had to wait ages for gravy to arrive and other accompaniments, the young lady dealing with us was very polite and helpful. Service was very slow, only seemed to be one young lady doing everything, and it wasn’t even that busy, but food was great, although carrots were floating in oil. Unfortunately, whole experience of dinner was spoilt by obviously locals playing cards talking loudly and shouting at each other and swearing, we did have a young child with us had no respect for people whilst eating. The food was good but put off going again as felt the experience was spoilt by the locals especially the very loud lady in a baseball hat that didn’t fit her head! Such a shame as would like to go back.

Work in progress. After being let go during Covid new owners have a grand master plan to reinvent the site. Give it six months and a lot of hard work should be able to challenge other nursery’s in the area. It’s not just a garden centre!
