The White Hart In in Rother

Curry night on Monday is well worth a visit, but unlike us do book ahead. The pub very kindly managed to fit us in but given the amount of people enjoying the food there, we were very lucky.

made a last minute booking with only half hour notice for 4 people for a full roast dinner and they were able to fit us in and this place did not disappoint .there was a good choice of meats on offer for the roast and once ordered it promptly arrived at the table hot and with a large amount of meat and roast potatoes ! no scrimping on their portions so we were very pleased ! the food was really tastey and we enjoyed every bit of it . we ordered 2 cherry pies , a jam pudding and a lemon and ginger cheesecake and was very pleasently surprised that they were all home made !! i bake myself so i was very impressed with the quality and taste of the deserts and made a lovely change to find an establishment that takes the time to do their own baking as so many buy them in so well done to them for that . cant understand why on a sunday that they were not full up as it was a great sunday afternoon and a good little find for us and we will definitely be returning very soon !

We were really happy with both venue and welcome we received from staff. The food was lovely. Shame about the locals who just walked in. No mask. Took table next to us, then proceeded to spend evening swearing and making revolting snorting noises. We had booked to re visit but cancelled due to unacceptable behaviour of locals. Sadly they will taint the pub for visitors.

The pub was a 40 minute walk from our Normanhurst campsite near Battle or a 5 minute car ride. Well recommended with good reason, serving generous portions of Sunday and evening meals. The staff were all very helpful. It's necessary to book a table.
