This trip for lunch was a first and last. The first server I spoke to said there were only a couple of items on the menu we could have if we wanted to sit outside. Another server said anything on the menu was OK for outside. We ordered a sandwich and a toastie - both arrived on flimsy paper plates and the portions were very small compared to the same meals served indoors that we could see. Some firmer plastics for outdoor use would be better. We've been here previously for ice creams when out walking, but after such a poor experience neither of us will be back. Very disappointing.

Unbelievably bad service all round with so called staff and management that gave us an ultimatum to either behave or leave the premises…when all we did was ask the staff how long we would need to wait to be served as we had already been waiting for 20 minutes and nobody came or apologised so we left not having a drink or any food We will never be going back…I suggest the staff are sacked or re trained either way we will never be going back to be treated like naughty school kids..my advice to anyone going is don’t .

I always come to this chippy when I'm in the area and the food & service is always good. However todays experience was not the usual nice experience. This is not a review about the food as this was 10/10 as per usual, the service is what has let this visit down. It was very busy when we visited and I understand that given the noise level when you ordering things can be missed, we are all human. When I pointed out a missing item I was told by the lady that took my order that "you didn't order one " in a really rude manner, now there is a big difference in someone not hearing something and someone not ordering something. It felt like the lady wanted to have an argument about it. Yes this is a popular chippy and a very good one but I think the owner needs to train her staff in customer service. The correct answer should have been "I'm sorry I didn't hear you ask for a buttered muffin, let me sort that out for you". Instead I was left stood there in disbelief being made to feel like I was lying. What made it worse was that the owner was stood right there let her staff member treat a customer in that way, she just stood there letting her staff member go back and forth over a buttered muffin!!!!
