The best restaurants serving Default food in Kesgrave East Suffolk Coastal East of England

I visited Chestnut and Rose for breakfast with my son last week. I ordered the creamy garlic mushrooms on sourdough, and it was an absolute delight. The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, with a rich and flavorful garlic cream sauce and the sourdough was fab. Amazing portion size and great value for money. It's clear that the staff take pride in their food, drinks and service. My coffee had a love heart on top 😍 All the cakes on the counter looked delicious, we were too full from breakfast to sample any this time but will definitely be back to try.

Fantastic food and will visit again

As a party of 9 we visited the Farmhouse for a birthday meal. Although the pub was very busy we were soon seated and our order taken at the bar relatively quickly. Our food arrived promptly and although we had to send one thing back the issue was resolved very quickly. Slightly disappointed that some desserts and drinks were unavailable. It was explained that the menu is generic and used in all pubs across the brand and therefore not all of the cocktails are available at every venue. We ordered starters, mains, desserts, drinks, (hot & cold) and cocktails and were happy with everything ordered. All staff were friendly and welcoming but a special thank you to Bex behind the bar who worked extremely hard under pressure and to the waiter (I think his name was Ben) for his rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday'! Would certainly recommend a visit although booking is advisable.

It wasn't the busiest of half term evenings, but the ambience at The Farmhouse was relaxed with a gentle buzz of conversation and occasional laughter. We arrived early for our booking but the staff were extremely helpful and prepared our table within a few minutes. Unlike some restaurants, tables were close but not packed in so tightly you needed an airlift to get in and out! Our group of seven selected and ordered at the bar without fuss or bother - apart from a little disappointment for the token vegetarian when the chickpea curry had run out on curry night! Mac and cheese soon placated her! Food arrived in close order, well presented and to everyone's delight. Altogether a more than pleasant experience and a high recommendation well earned! Thank you.

Always a speedy and good service

Only one speed and that is SLOW! Chips are greasy. No service with a smile. Ask for unwrapped and you get them wrapped. Not worth the wait.

Lovely surroundings and a beautiful building. Excellent food, albeit a bit expensive. Assuming you can get a table, it's always a pleasant meal. I still wish they'd allow bookings, even if a deposit was required, but they prefer not to. Update: We had a family birthday meal here recently (early May 2025) and were disappointed that the relatively-affordable steak (~£25) is no longer available, the cheapest now being about £40! And we found the chips far too salty, even after trying to brush salt off! We all had the burger, which was excellent, and the staff were as good as always.

Completely ripped off when ordering sides, £5.99 for a handful of naff oven chips sold as fries. Absolute joke of a price for the portion size and the quality wasn't great either. Won't be buying here again anytime soon...

After my brother and myself visited many care homes and being a carer in one myself I knew that Alice care home was the one. The manager Rachel gave us a tour and was very impressed with her openness and honesty and said her door is always open. On the day of moving our mother who has Alzheimer’s in we were both so nervous how our mum would be. However we needn’t of worried, as our mum was provided with lunch and introduced to other residents while we unpacked her belongings. The activities lead Penny and carer Emily literally couldn’t have been so kind and welcoming which made the transition smooth. It understandably took our mother a little while to settle which is to be expected but the staff were so supportive and caring to us all which reassured us. Everyone of the staff are wonderful and carers Mary-Beth and Jay have both been fantastic. We are so grateful and happy that our mum is in a safe and beautiful home and is being treated with dignity and respect. The activities and facilities are both excellent and my mum says in her own words “everyone here are just so lovely and I’m really happy here” Well done Alice Grange and thank you. Lynn and Stephen
