The best restaurants serving Chinese food in North East

We fancied a curry but not too much so opted for what we knew would be great. Beef, mushrooms, fried rice and curry sauce. Enough to share and some rice left over. Class

Wandering around Grainger Market on 30th July with my 22 year old son, we stumbled upon Dumpling & Bun. I had never had eaten either dumplings or buns before. My son persuaded me to give them a go and I absolutely loved them. Delicious and freshly prepared.

This place is magical! Not only is this an excellent tea house that celebrates the ritual of tea drinking, they have an immense choice of teas and the food is outstanding. Highly recommend the chicken/tofu curry, garlic mushrooms and dumplings.

We have visited the Northumberland Arms twice in the last few days, and on each occasion, the food has been superb. The staff are friendly without being familiar and the food is served promptly with excellent presentation. I have to dig deep to find any negatives, the only - very minor - one being that I would have liked a fork as well as a spoon with which to eat dessert. Highly recommended.

Had sweet and sour chicken balls and chips. Bought for myself but it was plenty for 2 so great value and super tasty! Will definitely visit again.

Best Chinese takeaway in Sunderland. Been too many. Some are still good some very not. If haven't order from here you will not be disappointed. 😁👍

Special Curry. Not Special at all. Some onions, a few small pieces of meat, 3 prawns, swimming in a watery yellow liquid which tasted of nothing. Disgusting really

Food was awful - house special chowmien was tasked all the meat was slimes didn’t dare eat prawns - curry was literally water and tasteless couldn’t even put it on the plate - sweet and sour had no taste prawn cracker were stale soft - will not order again

Whilst the food is tasty, the service has let this place down. We’ve been before, hence we know that the food is good. However, we tried to go recently and we were told of a 40 minute despite there being an empty table. After waiting for 10 minutes, we were told that the card machine doesn’t work and we must have cash. The head waitress was rude, and made us feel like we weren’t wanted in the restaurant. Chilli Padi up the road has much better customer service to match the tasty food. Make the walk up the road, it’s worth it!

Terrible customer service. Incompetent staff who continually get orders wrong. Then they leave the phone off the hook, so it's impossible to contact them to correct the order. The only option you have is to go back to the shop and wait while they correct your order. Which means the rest of the food goes cold. They have no idea what they are doing.
