Amazing little takeaway with a big selection of meals. Food is always lovely

They really do need to improve the picture on here of the menu. Great food and always freshly cooked but i wanted to view the menu and phone the order in but had to travel to order, now i have a menu but many who will visit the site to see what food is available wont see a clear picture of dishes and prices.

I got curry and chips, all the chips were stuck together and looked like they'd been cooked then cooked again, the curry was lumpy and not runny and I got salt and pepper ribs, they were nice but wasn't enough meat on, they were all thin. Don't think I'd come back here. Sorry.

Thoroughly enjoyed the King Prawn curry I bought, defo going back again. Excellent service too.

This has got to be the best place to get Chinese food in sunderland Edit 2023 June, they are now cash only and the quality is standard, still the only Chinese that hasn't gave my food poisoning so I guess it's still the best imho

Worst Chinese in Sunderland used to be the best going but cudnt dare eat there again ever blood in the beef still no chicken yellow prawn crackers off dirty oil insult to Chinese food

My meal tonight was disgusting. Rice tasted burned. The chow mein was dry as sticks not a bit of onion, peppers, mushrooms or nothing in. Even my 3 year old grandson said nana it's horrible. I thought Eastern dragon was bad tonight was vile. Total waste of my money I surely will not be back.

Have had two meals from here and they were both terrific. Lots of flavour and anything that was fried was crispy without being greasy!! Friendly service and great value!!!

12.50 for spare rids chips and sea weed at a total cost to make around 2 pound I had a full box meal for that price last week with triple the amount

Best Chinese takeway in the UK!

Every time I visit Sunderland my addiction for pineapple duck and special fried rice from the Silver Star returns. I'm never disappointed with the service or delivery, and the food beats any other takeaway in a 15 mile radius. On top of this the owner has achieved a 5 star health and safety record by the food standards agency every year I've visited (an unusually high standard in Sunderland), so I always know the quality and cleanliness will leave no regrets, following my indulgence. I can definitely recommend the Silver Star.

Do not be put off by the outside of the premises, we have had several takeaways from here and never been disappointed. The food is delicious and well cooked, with a good selection

I have tried many Chinese takeaways in Sunderland and I will be honest there has only been a handful I would recommend. Which is all because the chicken you get in your meals these days is just a cheap breast of Chicken injected with to much water and this why the chicken is usually comes across like rubber or processed meat. The silver Star is another one that seems to be useing this chicken...The food had plenty of flavour but spoilt by the cheap cut of chicken...

You must try silver star! Best salt and pepper dishes including chips I have ever tasted! Cheap but beautiful. Lovely staff! Quick delivery! Also try the king prawn fried rice...amazing!!
