Having tried to keep this private I have not received a reply from the following email I sent 12/12/24 so no choice but to go public. Good afternoon, I am upset writing this as I have always so very much adored visiting Portmeirion, it is one of my go to places for special occasions. However during my stay on the 11/12 December (my birthday) I am sorry to say I was disappointed with the room and evening dining experience. The room, bridge house 2 has wallpaper hanging off, the floor is lifting and what looks like coffee splashed up the wall next to the bed. The food (vegan menu) lacked inspiration, had no nutritional value or balance of flavours, it was overly salty and greasy and we left the majority, the tarte tatin appeared to be reheated and lacked freshness, the pastry was inedible and soggy. Yes we spoke with the server whom offered the polenta but that too was boring and without balance. The breakfast however was a triumph! The village itself is still a joy and a wonder, I will always love it but on this occasion it was spoiled. Kind regards

I visited family last weekend and have to say the changes the the royal are amazing since my last visit. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating to bruce (my german shepherd ). The bar person brought a bowl of water and treats over for my dog while I watched the football on the big screen. I visited that evening without my dog and the atmosphere was brilliant, the staff again very engaging no matter how busy they were the made time to smile and have a brief chat.
