2 staff serving 2 staff talking and wiping tables that had not been used, clearly didnt want to work..... with a line of 30 people standing outside in the hot sun...rude and miserable staff! need to change your staff

Bought coffee and ice-cream on a visit to Portmeirion recently. We sat inside at the window seat and ate our delicious ice-cream, whilst watching the queue be efficiently delt with.

Homenade ice cream was gorgeous and this time of year there was no waiting around to get one. Being a touristtrap tho it was expensive.t

Really nice ice creams, they do sell out of certain flavours over the day so just a heads up if you are wnating a certain favourite. On the day we visited all day there were queues but that was because when you taste the ice cream it wasn delicious !

We visited the village on Wednesday 17th August around four. The queue was out of the door but we were happy to wait. My family had chosen flavours from the sign outside, but I waited until inside to see if there were any more choices on the specials inside. We were served by an older guy who seemed more interested in talking to his young colleague in the kitchen and eating his own icecream than serving people. On asking if there were any vegan icecream choices I was told 'yes it's called Sorbet'. I have a dairy intolerance and I'm a vegetarian. I'm extremely careful with what I eat as I can become very ill. I was quite taken aback at this man's attitude. I explained my situation and that I'd prefer icecream. He then went on to complain about a customer he'd served, who I can only assume had coeliac disease as she requested measures to be taken to avoid cross contamination. This appeared to be a huge inconvenience to him. He told us if something falls in they 'just scrape it off the top'. It was almost as if he expected us to join in with him complaining and agree with him on how over the top he thought this woman's request was. I actually have a gluten intolerance too, but at this point I had no interest in telling him or asking for gluten free cones. It was quite apparent that he had no interest or sense of obligation in assisting customers with allergies or intolerances or dietary requirements of any nature. It is actually very dangerous to be employing staff who have such contempt for customers needs and such disregard for food safety. This spoiled an otherwise magical day in beautiful Portmeirion. I seriously hope measures are taken by management to recruit and train staff properly before someone becomes seriously ill.

Our family went for some ice cream the queue was long and that was fine we picked flavours of the board but when we went in we saw this small board with 2 ice cream flavours crossed out and one of the flavours my family (4 people) was ordering it was unavailable and then we were about to tell the member of staff about our order the flavour now 2 people in the family wanted to have were almost out we managed to get one but then had to wait inside while 3 sat with ice cream and when the last person got there’s it was tiny compared to the other ones. Also the sorbets texture is like ice cream and the flavour is weak

As usual I couldn't decide on just one so, unfortunately, had too have two flavours. Penderyn Whisky was a new, but delicious, one for me.

What a Shame about the service. No real answer when questionning on the flavour. We then had to listen to some ominous mutterings in Welsh by a woman, she is bothered when asked to repeat. Quick reminder : you are in the hospitality industry being paid to help but your attitude won't win any awards or recommendations. If you do not like your job, do something else…

We decided to have an ice cream on the way out of the village and after standing in a short queue we entered the shop to be confronted by a rotunda filled with various flavours of ice cream from traditional vanilla to such as Whisky. Everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed the flavour they choose. It was quite pricey but no more than ice creams in other attractions where you are a captive audience.

Yummy ice cream - but amazed that the young male server did not communicate with us once when choosing our ice cream! No idea of customer service at all! Such a shame when others have given this place awesome reviews!!

During the pandemic there was no eating inside, but we sat on a wall opposite and enjoyed some lovely gelato from a tub. It felt like we were in Italy.

Be prepared to queue. There are limited numbers permitted inside so on a hot day the queue is long. However it is well worth it. The ice cream is delicious and the portions large.

After a busy few hours walking around Portmeirion, we decided to treat ourselves with an ice cream. Again, great signage, and not too long to queue. The staff inside were warm and friendly. Great choice of ice creams on offer, and a nice little seating area outside. The ice creams were absolutely delicious.

We stopped for coffee and cake. It was the best toffee cake I have ever had. The atmosphere was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome. Visit if you can!

While visiting visiting Portmeirion we wanted a hot drink to warm us through & came across this cafe which fitted the bill. We had a warm welcome on arrival the drinks were reasonably priced & were hot. Some of the seats could be improved on but they are trying to get more people in. The cakes looked good & freshly made. If your visiting Portmeirion I would recommend stopping here if you are in need of a drink or cake.

Decided to enter this quirky cafe after a long walk, needed something to warm me up and nothing beats the good old cup of tea straight out of a tea pot.

Very friendly service every time we went there during our 4day stay at the village. Nice to hear the Welsh language being spoken . Nice selection of cakes and ice creams would recommend the ginger ice cream. And cream teas

We were staying in The Toll House in the village. On our 1st day we visited Caffi'r Angel and was serviced my Karen Roberts. We had such wonderful service that we purposely visited the Caffi'r Angel each day of our stay and each time had the same friendly service. Karen gave us information about the surrounding area going above and beyond to give us such information. Even when the Caffi'r Angel was really busy, service was always efficient and customer service maintained a high standard.Please pass on our thanks for making our stay extra special.We especially loved hearing the Welsh language spoken all over the village.A beautiful tradition that i hope carrys on.

I visited the angel ices on many days as i was staying in the village,The service i received was very good, the staff were helpfull and they did speak welsh to each other however i am in their home town and this should not be a problem like the review below stated, you wouldnt go to spain and expect them not to speak their own language.... SHAME ON YOU...

Though a little disappointed not to be able to order a coffee ice cream I opted instead for the mint choc chip and it was a really good one. No gritty particles like you get in some you can buy, just smooth and delicious to slip down lovely. The strawberry cones were oozing with flavour as were the pineapple ones. I think you have to stop here and give it a try if you are lucky enough to visit Portmeirion in the sunshine.

Lovely range of more unusually flavoured ice creams. I had an apple crumb cone, which was delicious and excellent value for money.

When visiting Portmeirion last week with my husband and his brother we called into the Caffi’r Angel for drinks.The men chose Americanos and I ordered a hot chocolate.The chocolate was actually hot and I can’t ever remember being served with one that was hot before.It was delightful!We managed to get seats in this very clean and busy cafe, the only negative comment has to be the wasps that were targeting the bowls containing sugar cubes!

We passed by a couple of times and didn't wait because of the queues, but later managed to find a time when it wasn't so busy - even then the service time was long. You pay one person who gives you a receipt, which you then pass to the server who fills your cup or cone. The flavours however were great - the raspberry ripple contains a number of whole raspberries and was a definite reason to wait

I’ll start with the terrible customer service. I paid for my ice creams (I was buying several for my family). I wasn’t offered a receipt. As there was a queue, I duly waited in line. My sister then wanted an ice cream so I bought one from the lady at the till in addition to the ones I’d already paid for. I was served this and when I requested the others, the man dishing out the ice creams asked me if I’d paid. I said yes and was then asked for my receipt and I then said I wasn’t given one. He then shouted to the lady who served me to ask if I’d paid (I was mortified at this point) and she stared at me and then finally said I had. The man did not apologise and proceeded to dish out the ice cream very slowly. I was fuming at this point and upset and, honestly, just wanted to leave. I’ve never been treated like this in my entire life.

Great service, great coffee, great flavours. As a group of 10 we managed to get in and take up 3 tables (still leaving plenty of room for others).

After a few bad experiences at Portmeirion customer service ; I stepped into this place and although the ice cream I liked wasn’t out, they were more than happy to get it for me. Genuine, lovely people and the seating area was perfect to people watch. Thank you.

Fantastic gelato, lots of flavours - the four we tried between us were absolutely delicious! Cakes looked tasty, will have to try them next time we visit.

We had a fabulous hot chocolate here early in our day, it was really good and hot!

We loved the ice cream here so much that we came 4 times in our 2 days at Portmeirion! There was a great variety of ice cream flavours, such as honeycomb, Bueno, vanilla, chocolate, tiramisu, Turkish delight, to name a few, as well as sorbets and normal cakes and scones. Staff were friendly and service was quick despite it being busy.

Lovely little shop filled with refreshments and especially the tourist favourite, ice cream. Especially as it made fresh on-site. You can sit in or takeaway, but it was such a pretty little place, we sat in and watched the world go by. Would definitely recommend.

Icecream is icecream and there was a wide choice of flavours. The seating was clean but basic, and the place lacked ambience. On a wet wednesdfay afternoon in May it was deserted apart from us. I had the honeycomb which was delicious.

Visited this cafe 3 times during our stay. Delicious ice cream & coffees. We also had the Bara Brith which was very moist & tasty. Very clean & pleasant staff.

Visited The village twice this year Couldn't believe the once I took my son and visited the ice cream cafe known for its flavours they had No ice cream and where just selling coffee !!

We enjoyed coffee and cake in this cafe whilst having a day out in Portmeirion. The ice creams looked delicious but we decided against them due to the weather being a little cold. The lemon meringue pie went down well with my husband and it was being bought by a few people. Staff very friendly.

Stopped off at the cafe during our visit to Portmeirion. Ice cream was really nice and got a good portion. My husband had a carrot cake and it was delicious as well. The coffee was good.

We had a lovely lemon drizzle cake, my boyfriend had a cuppa and I ordered a cappuccino. I was so happy when I saw that the used Lavazza and the cappuccino was actually very good. Probably the best cappuccino I had outside of Italy. I know my coffees as I am originally from an hour from Milan.

You've gottta have an ice cream when you're at the coast eh? The flavours were not the normal flavours which is reflective of the fact that they were all handmade. I had pineapple and the flavour was perfect and the ice cream was divine. All served in a hand made waffle cone. Yummy - did I say they were yummy?

I recently had a mint cone from the cafe. It was creamy and minty, but missed that "something special." That said, the service was good, the ice cream nice, and the surroundings wonderful.

First up, I have to say that I didn't have an ice cream. I had a scone with jam and cream, and it's a shame that the jam and cream are in plastic packaging. You'd think that somewhere like this would have dinky little dishes, not the kind of stuff you'd see in motorway services. My friend's daughter was disappointed by the ice cream she had, and let me tell you, this girl has never had an ice cream she didn't love before! The young man who served me barely spoke and didn't smile. I assume he was working for the summer holidays, but it definitely dampened my enthusiasm for the place before I'd even sat down.

Had a huge two-scoop ice cream. The cherry flavour was absolutely delicious with real cherries on top.

The Portmeirion own-brand ices and sorbets are certainly an improvement on the previous Cadwallader products in their latter years, but were frankly over-priced in relation to their quality. While the "Stop-me-and-buy-one" cart only offers a few flavours, there are maybe sixteen available on their funky turntable in the shop (as per the photograph), with some interesting varieties such as gin and tonic sorbet, lemon sorbet and mint. Interesting, but don't get too excited.

We were in Wales during the heat wave and this ice cream really hit the spot. Local made and super tasty.

I had a fairly average coffee and my husband said his sundae wasn’t particularly great (not enough ice cream and lots of sauce). Nice setting though (mind you, I think everything in Portmeirion is a nice setting!!).

Arrived with 3 friends. One friend had blueberry which she enjoyed. Pistachio was nice and had pieces of nuts. Rhubarb was delicious but should say that it contains ginger as that is not to everyone’s taste. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

We had to stop and sample the ice cream. It was gorgeous. I had a berry ripple cone. Lots of lovely flavours to choose from that amazing rotating freezer!

We stopped here after walking round the village and surrounding area for most of the day, we both had a 2 scoop cone with 2 different flavour's generously put onto the cone and sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed it !!!!

We could not walk past an ice cream opportunity and there is a fair selection of choices. I had a one scoop strawberry with a flake in a cone which was tasty. The cone was different but very nice. We companions had a rhubarb one and a rum and raisin and both enjoyed theirs. We had walked a lot so felt we deserved the treat.

Visited on a very cold morning with a bit bit of hail/snow blowing in the wind. Coffee was very welcome and my partner had vanilla ice cream which was very good.

While staying in the village visited here twice and the ice cream was great got the pot with a choice of 2 flavours and 2 cups of coffee and cost £10 each day which i thought was a good price and staff nice and friendly and very clean.

We stopped in here foe drinks and one of our party enjoyed a delicious scone with cream and jam. Good value and in a great location

Lovely gelato in the centre of the village washed down with a coffee. Generous portions of delicious icecream and good coffee and 4 hours of walking in the woods. A great pick me up to keep us going till dinner!

The day we visited was hot and sunny so we happily wandered in and bought ice creams and cold drinks here. There are a great selection of ice cream flavours and the price was no more than anywhere else we purchased ice creams in the UK. You can also get hot drinks and cafe style food which looked very nice.

Even though we visited on a quiet day, the service here was slow, tables left uncleared and choice of food limited.

We had an ice cream from here today. It took a while to choose as there were so many yummy flavours. Decided on Banoffee and Malteser and both were delicious.

A very nice place to go to for a drink and a piece of cake which was very fresh and nice to eat the hot was nice as well.

Good flavours and generous portions is what we received when we went here for ice cream and tea. Just beware, whilst it was nice and quiet when we arrived, by the time we left 20 minutes later it was packed. I suppose that also means if it is packed when you arrive, don't worry it will probably quieten down quite quickly.

Great selection of gelato. We were told there was a new manager and that explained some of the more interesting flavors, such as rhubarb crumble (delicious, by the way). We visited twice during our stay and enjoyed both the ice creams and milkshakes.

While walking around the village there are a few opportunities to sit down and re-charge the batteries, on this occassion the hotel was veing used for a wedding so we decided that the ice Cream palour and a coffee would fill the gap. A great variety of local flavours and a tasty coffee all for a good price. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun

Our children loved the ice cream carousel and the young ladies who were serving were lovely and complemented our children's manners on requesting and receiving their ice creams. I tried the Turkish Delight, which is now my new favourite. Just looking forward to our next visit.

North Wales has a number of local ice cream makers but don't worry about them as this is the best. A great choice of flavours and lovely setting in the heart of the village and I can thoroughly recommend the raspberry cheesecake. Friendly and welcoming staff who were happy to help

Every time I visit Portmeirion, I have to come here for an ice cream.. Lots of flavours to choose from and the quality is second to none! Have only ever had a cone, and have never tried one of their sundae's.... yet! But there's time!

Whilst staying at Portmeirion we visited Caffi'r Angel Ices several times. There is a great range of flavours and they are all fantastic. They are on the pricey side but the portions are reasonably good. I would, however, disagree with another reviewer about the outdoor seating. The cheap plastic is out of keeping with the rest of Portmeirion and I'm sure that Clough Williams-Ellis would not have approved.

Nice place if you like ice cream, they do offer drinks as well. There is outdoor seating which was great.

The ice cream is Italian and is on view in a circular revolving freezer. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The berry ice cream was also lovely. It is a lovely place to have a sit and watch the world go by.

After enjoying the best Ice Cream ever on our visit 2 years ago, we looked forward to our visit again this year.We were not disappointed. The carousel of different flavoured Ice Creams is so tempting. My husband chose 2 flavours-Salted Caramel and Cookies and Cream for his tub, my daughter Salted Caramel and Chocolate for her tub and I chose the coffee.These Ice Creams were full of flavour and delicious, and are all made on the premises. If you like Ice Cream this is a must. You won't be disappointed!

Fresh and creamy ice-cream, lots of flavours to choose from. I recommend caramel and sea salt. The portions are very generous.The cafe was very busy and a little chaotic when we went, so we opted to take away. Well worth a visit if you are in the village.

A teatime visit for a gelato and a coffee was not all that I had hoped. Perhaps because I called towards the end of their day, not many customers were there, and several of the staff chatted loudly in a corner, to the detriment of speedy service. I ordered two flavours and the generous scoops were deposited into an indadequate paper cup - the scoop on top looked as if it was about to overbalance, and it was very hard to get at the lower scoop. I gave up after a while, leaving most of the gelato (gelati?) untouched.

Stopped for a snack whilst visiting Portmeirion. Lovely service, 50's style comfort and great coffee. The ice cream is pretty special too.

This is a lovely cafe which sells amazing ice cream. However we visited during the first week in November and didn't feel like ice cream because the weather was chilly. We had tea, cappuccino and Americano coffee and hot chocolate. The coffee is the Lavazza brand and is therefore really good, beats your own coffee machines! The staff are very friendly and cheerful and add to a relaxed atmosphere here, lovely location too in Portmeirion Village.

Excellent icecream made on-site. Coffee, tea, cakes and icecreams sold. Seating inside a bit cramped and outside seating cunningly designed to be uncomfortable so you don't linger too long.
