It’s a wonderful chip shop, great chips, sunny location and wonderful view. We had scallops . They were sublime, as good as the best restaurant anywhere and yet it’s a chip shop in Shetland. It’s worth travelling a long distance for

It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing. But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

Good food at a reasonable price from a varied menu featuring local produce. We ate there several times given that the food and service made it worth returning.

This inn looks closed when first approached, however upon closer inspection I found out it opens at 5pm (1700hrs). It is good traditional very well cooked food. The service was pleasant and attentive. The portions were very generous with us having to have a carry out for our sticky toffee pudding dessert. My wife drove so I had a couple of beers from their extensive range This is a very good value venue and I would strongly recommend a visit.

This is our fourth visit to Shetland, but the first time we've managed to find the hotel open for lunch. Friendly greeting, and we were told (almost apologetically) that they were 'only' doing sandwiches and soup for lunch. Have always wanted to eat here so we opted for the sandwiches. The guy behind the bar apologised that it would take a while (there were a few people in the hotel and only one member of staff in the kitchen). All I can say is that we won't be eating until very late tonight, if at all! Lovely sandwiches/toasties, a very large helping and good value for money. We both said we couldn't eat it all, but it was so good and nicely prepared that we felt it would be rude not to. It looks as though the hotel is undergoing a big refurbishment, so good luck to the owners, perhaps we'll plan a visit in the future and stay here. Brilliant, thank you.
