My husband and I had an evening meal here on 12 occasions during our stay on Shetland in late June/early July. As on previous visits here, the service was first class. The staff were all courteous, attentive and friendly. The food was first class and the menu extensive. The general ambiance was pleasant. Even when exceptionally busy, the service was prompt and ran smoothly. We cannot recommend more highly.

We are local and wanted an overnight getaway. Busta never disappoints! Great walks around the area and gardens to enjoy before heading into the long room for a drink or two before dinner. All the rooms have been tastefully redecorated to a nice standard. Dinner is a relaxing affair, with great wait staff! The menu doesn’t change much, but that’s not a bad thing, as their dinners are great and never disappoint! Best steak you will get in Shetland by far! The wine list is decent from around the world at great prices. If you know your wine, you don’t need to spend a fortune for a nice bottle if on a budget! I was surprised to find a bottle of Don Pérignon on the list 2012 at a reasonable price, which was lovely! After a three course dinner in the evening, I can’t recommend enough the light smoked poached local haddock and poached eggs to set you up for another walk. Highly recommend!

What a perfect example of hospitality! We walked in hoping for a bar meal, but hadn't booked. The staff were welcoming, warm and professional and we got a table straight away. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. We had the pickled hering as a starter to share and it was delicous. Our main courses were superb too. The steak was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and well seasoned. The peppercorn sauce was gorgeous. The herb breaded whiting was juicy and delicious. We enjoyed the free choice of sides to go with our meal. All in all, a great dinner for a very reasonable price. Hotel owners should send their staff here for training to learn from this amazing team.

If you want tranquility, lovely scenery and a truly warm, friendly welcome everyone in situ then staying here is a must. We had to leave early because of an impending storm front. If we weren’t meeting family on the mainland we would have been more than happy to ride out the storm here in front of an open fire whilst working our way through their extensive malt whisky collection. Many thanks to all involved with the hotel and we are planning to return

We stayed at Busta House for three nights and couldn't fault it. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We ate each night in the restaurant and the food was lovely...I have to say the lamb was some of the best I've ever had. Breakfast was plentiful and varied with everything we could want to set us up for the day. Oh and the whiskey...what a perfect way to end a day out in the long room with a fire going and a glass in our hand. Will definitely be back if we come to the area again. Thank you.

We had dinner there one night. This was consolation for not being able to book a room because they were full. We understand why. The hotel is charmingly old and cozy, with a splendid lounge and several rooms serving as the dining room. Service was fabulously attentive and helpful. My girlfriend started with house smoked gravlax and then chicken pieces in hoisin sauce with rice and veggies. I started with a combination plate with their mackerel pate and Atlantic pink prawns in sauce, followed by lamb pieces in a honey and whole grain mustard sauce. We shared sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We had excellent wines. The food was superb. The bill was extremely reasonable, reflective of their surprisingly well priced menu. We loved this place.

Friendly and efficient service and good range of no-nonsense and very-reasonably-priced lunch-time pub food in a big old 4-storey 'Country House' hotel) set in its own grounds near Brae - I had delicious lentil soup, followed by a large portion of equally-delicious steak & ale pie, chips and veg and the other members of group were also very impressed with all their choices. We spent some time in Shetland and were struggling for decent places to eat. This place serves lovely quality food and is also great value for money. We ate there twice within 3 days and all of the dishes we had were well cooked/prepared, nicely presented, good size portions using local produce where possible and were delicious. Having experienced some mediocre food whilst on the mainland we were concerned whether this place was going to join that list, but we needn’t have been. There is also a very good wine list and a fabulous collection of single malt whiskies to sample. We weren’t staying here, but would do so as the food and friendly staff/service mean that it would be very enjoyable. The building is a bit unprepossessing and there are probably some areas which could do with redecorating, but we felt it was a charming place with fantastic food and attentive staff. Would highly recommend it.

We were staying in Brae and decided to dine at Busta House for my husband’s birthday. The four course dinner in the lovely dining room was delicious. I had the local Voe scallops as my main course as suggested by our excellent waiter and my husband had the roast pork, both were excellent and the scallops just perfectly cooked! The soup and appetizers were also good - I enjoyed the mushrooms finished with cheddar and might have to try to duplicate that at home. Service was excellent and we’d happily go back except for one thing that sadly got on my last nerve - the dreadful music soundtrack played in the dining room! it was changed, at our request when we were alone in the room, from American pop, to something marginally better which included selections from Prime Country, Country 2K, and a few decent instrumentals but by the end of our meal it had moved into Dirty Moneys pseudo rap and made me want to run out the door. IMO, music in a dining venue needs to match the dining experience. Fine dining and rap are not what I’d expect in a Shetland Country House, I can go back to LA for that.So it was a four star meal but sadly a three star experience.

Stopped for two nights and was really looking forward to the scenic location and rather historic building. Great meals and wonderful caring staff who genuinely did look after you and catered to your requirements above their needs.Praise stops there our room was cold, very cold and over the two nights began to fall apart. Lights going bang, shower unserviceable and the twin beds tended to loose the rather inadequate bedding without any prompting.Access to our drop off point was a nightmare for struggling patrons. The rabbit warren interior was a little shabby and definitely needed some TLC and a substantial casl injection. Overall pushed into the place due to availability at Up Helly Aa but was better than the YMCA feel of the Shetland hotel.Nice food great staff, but struggling with an inferior product based on the decor and amenities on site.

Sometimes you overlook what is on your doorstep and this is definitely the case with Busta House. I had eaten here before whilst holidaying in Shetland and thoroughly enjoyed the meal, local salmon if I remember rightly. However, for no particular reason, in the 5 years I have lived here I had neglected to revisit this beautifully characteristic old hotel.I was lucky enough to be surprised for our anniversary with not only a visit to the hotel for a meal, but to stay overnight in an amazingly comfortable four poster bed (who new antique furniture could be so comfortable :)The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. We decided to eat from the bar menu. The meal was swiftly served and was very good. I pride myself on my home cooked lentil soup but my soup starter at Busta was sooo much better than my own :( The main meals were generous in size and of an extremely high quality, there was not a single item I could give a bad review of (including my toddlers cheeseburger which I had to help her finish). For dessert, a platter of ice creams and sorbets along with two wedges of home made cheesecakes shared between my two year old girl, my pregnant sugar craving partner and I was simply amazing!I have read a couple of critical reviews about Busta House, all I can say is those people must be used to high tea at the Ritz! Don't go expecting modern and shiny, remember the house began life in 1588, but for those who like hotels with character, you are in luck.I would whole heartedly recommend Busta House for both an enjoyable meal and a comfortable night's sleep.

The food is excellent with some interesting dishes on the menu. We would advise the bar menu. The service was excellent in the bar. We opted for the £35 table d'hote one evening. Again the flavours were good with some interesting dishes. The problem was the portions were just too large - vegetables were plated up rather than a tureen on the table. My starter of Scotch Broth was delicious but served in a generously sized bowl full to the brim so the waiter had difficulty putting on the table without spilling. The duck breast second course was delicious. The banoffee pie portion was enormous, lacked banana and was topped by a mountain of cream. Service started well and was friendly but, after a while we felt neglected - so much so we went to the kitchen door and yelled for service. The quality and menu ideas move towards fine dining but they lack the finesse one would expect.

Mycket prisvärt alltihop dessutom. Rekommenderas framför alla andra alternativ i närheten där det är svårt finna annat än opersonliga logimöjligheter för oljearbetarna i Sollum Voe terminalen.

There was about 14 of us for the meal but the confusion started when one waiter said you could choose from separate menus and another said you could not. This confusion continued as people were not getting what they ordered or just not getting food at all.The standard of food was ok and to be fair the mussels and steak was really nice but the hassle waiting for the food and then the hassle trying to sort the bill. We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights in April 201 and loved it. Our room was very spacious and well equipped. The food was excellent and the salmon fillet definitely to be recommended. Breakfasts were plentiful and tasty. The Long Room, or residents' lounge, has a delightfully comfy air about it. There are signs, however, that the building will soon need a significant amount of money spent on maintenance, redecoration of damp patches, etc. The one drawback, not pointed out to us in advance, was the long and steep stone staircase leading from car park to front door. Negotiating this in the wind and rain was an interesting experience. All in all, though, a hotel definitely to be recommended.

Unfortunately, as it was a Sunday, there were families with young children; we did ask the waitress we were served by to ask about the noise of the children screaming which absolutely disrupted the customers. All in all, it was good.

Drinks and food prices were very reasonable. Food was good but the skinny fries really let my plate of food down. However, my choice as I could have had wedges, or new potatoes instead and next time I will not order the fries. Excellent service in a cosy atmosphere.

Busta House has just been taken over by new management, and what a difference they're making. The place looks fresher, the menu has been updated and the staff are trained better. The food is lovely, and not too pricey, and the service is brilliant. We have been here on countless occasions, and struggle to fault the place,Definitely recommend it.

A fine baronial house outside Brae providing high quality traditional fare with excellent service. A good choice for an evening out.

Arrived without a reservation and it was very busy, despite this we were promptly accommodated for. Food was excellent and not over priced. apologies were given for the delay in food (even though didn't think or realise there was one) and given 2 free glasses of wine. Lovely restaurant, nice food and friendly staff, couldn't ask for any more.

It’s more of a good cafe than a restaurant and it is also a caravan and motorhome site plus wigwams ( colourful wooden weatherproof huts). It’s at Braewick not Brae which is 15 miles south. It has all the facilities that a caravan/ motorhome site needs. Electric hook up, drive over drains, black water disposals, clean water available, good parking surfaces. Problem is it takes a bit of finding these facilities! Even the pitches take a bit of locating as only a couple are numbered. All the rest have been washed off, blown away etc. The showers are looking old and are difficult to manage. There is a playground and the beach is 5 mins walk but bear in mind this is 1000 km north of London, nearest neighbours are Iceland and Norway so the water is refreshing. But the views are spectacular cliffs of red rock and in the sea a set of rock stacks (the drongs) look like a Viking longship turned to stone. Wonderful to look at at midnight. You might see Foula, 40 plus km away. There are blow holes through the cliffs, take care. The Northmavine musicians play at Hillswickplus informal dancing for a great night out but it’s a 5 minute drive or an hours walk. Great place just needs an update.

Came across Nicola 's Tik Tok videos, and due to her enthusiasm and passion for what she does, and quite simply, everything looks delicious 😋 I had to order some online, and they met my expectations ...delicious ! Congratulations on your recent Awards 👏🏻 PS..A visit is on my Bucket List...Oh ! and Nicola should be on The Telly Box ...Sunday Brunch would be a great fit 👍🏻

Right by the ferry terminal so the ideal place to wait for a crossing. This is popular with workmen and with families. They serve a wide range of food and drinks. From snacks to full meals. From breakfasts to afternoon teas. I enjoyed a coffee and a tray bake. Would have called in twice more during my visit to Yell but it was closed.
