We stayed the one night at the fox for a night out in Much Wenlock with friends. Rooms were clean and had a great sleep. Coffee and tea with biscuits all in. We had a breakfast and it was very good. Cereal and fruit and yoghurt. Full English with choice of eggs and toast. It was a lovely breakfast and a good start to the day. Staff were great. Very friendly and helpfull. Would definitely stay again and the price was very good. Highly recommended.

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.

We popped in during the snow today & we’re received with a warm friendly welcome. Lovely hosts & great snacks & drinks options. Really enjoyed chewing the fat & having a light heated laugh. We won’t mention the “pushy owners comment honestly” lol I’m sure you will remember who we were. x

Much Welnlock is such a beautiful place. This pub is right in the center, you might think "oh it going to be wack" but no! The perfect mix of country pub excellence with welcoming service. Wood fire? Yes! Fantastic steak pie? Yes! Wood beams hundreds of years old? Yes! Locals questioning your value because your from the county over (Staffordshire)? Yes! Top recommendation

Visited the Gaskell Arms with a group of friends for a Christmas meal. We have had quite a few nice meals there previously so we were looking forward to it We had booked our table quite a few weeks previously and one of our party rang the day before to confirm the booking. We were eating our main courses when we were approached by a member of staff and told the kitchen was closing which was a bit of a surprise as it was only 8.30pm. She said that if we wanted desserts we needed to order them straight away. As we were the only table left in the dining room we felt very rushed at this point, quickly finished our meals, did not order dessert and had coffee in the bar. Whilst we appreciated we were the only table left in the dining room, this was not our fault. Maybe when the member of our party had rung to confirm the booking the previous day, we could have been asked to arrive earlier which we would have done. One of our party had arranged to be picked up from the venue at 10.30pm but we were approached just before this and told the place was closing. Not a good end to what was a disappointing evening.
