The Fox was one of our bed and breakfast bases for a short walking holiday with friends. It was a perfect little place with a warm friendly welcome from landlady Liz and we were well looked after by Olivia and her team. The pub has a nice easy atmosphere and we enjoyed really good food. Our rooms were well presented with good decor, nice furniture and plenty of space. Just a really good place to go and only a few metres walk from the shops.

Booked and visited based on tripadvisor reviews. I don’t normally leave reviews but the ones left previous on Trip-advisor are not a true reflection of the venue and misled us to visit. The service was good and the food was good. But..the venue is full of the local town drunks and the language was shocking. I was with my 9yo daughter and there should have been a warning that it was not appropriate for families. I certainly learnt new words! and had a difficult conversation with my daughter to try an explain. Great for stag&hen doo’s but avoid if you are a couple or a family. Spoilt what was otherwise a lovely visit to Ironbridge.

Read the reviews of The Fox so decided to call in on our way from Ironbridge to Shrewsbury for a football match. Called around 5pm and the bar/snug was busy with locals and 3/4 tables were taken in the restaurant side. From the moment we walked in the staff were really friendly and helpful in choosing drinks. We opted for the £14 menu whereby a main and a drink was served. The food was delicious and hot which often isn't the case with pub meals. I opted for the vegetable penang curry and the wife had the steak and ale pie. I had to help her with her chips and I have to say they were the best chips I had ever tasted. Would love to know the secret. We spent an enjoyable hour or so in the village and thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Fox and would have no hesitation in returning if ever in the area in future.

Stayed for one night as a couple in early August. Ate in the restaurant for dinner, had breakfast and a room. Positives: +Very friendly and helpful staff on arrival and throughout our stay. +Good location in the middle of Much Wenlock. +Good WiFi. +The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was spotless. +Food for dinner was really nice and well priced (£14 for a main course and any drink). +Breakfast was included and nice with a good range of hot and cold options. +There were issues with hot water in the room but they mitigated this with helpful instructions on how to work around it so overall I'm counting this as a positive. +Excellent choice of real ale. +Clearly a popular place with repeat visitors from the looks of it. Reasons why I didn't give 5 stars: -The room itself was largely clean but not exactly spotless and some of the furnishings in the room were a little tired.

What a delightful place. Booked for lunch with some work colleagues, food was delightful and good value, service very friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble... would highly recommend & hope to go again soon.

I loved it here and would have given it 5* but there were 2 things which stopped me. I stayed in room 6, my friend was upstairs and it was just us two in that block which housed the two rooms so was lovely. The rooms were massive and were very nice! Also very clean. The bathroom was a good size as well. The shower was electric and was nice and hot this morning and came with shower gel. There was plenty of toilet roll and there was handwash. The towels were proper bath sized ones not ones that only covered 3/4 of you so they were amazing!!! In the room there was tea/coffee & kettle, a table and 2 chairs as well as a double bed. In the wardrobe there was a fan, a heater, an iron, an ironing board and a hairdryer. There was also a full length mirror on the back of the door. There is also a TV on the wall. My two issues which stopped me giving 5* is that the mattress was very very hard and had obviously seen better days and the other was that there was no plug near the mirror. I unplugged the kettle for my straighteners which just about then reached the mirror. Despite my opinion of the mattress, I did sleep well. Considering I was on the ground floor and its a pub, I heard very little noise. The wifi was also really good. We had dinner, good job we booked as pub was really busy! They have an excellent offer on. It was a main and a drink of your choice (we had a G&T) for £14.00! Was very enjoyable. Breakfast this morning was also very very enjoyable. You could choose your cooked breakfast and there was cereal available. Orange juice was on the table and tea/coffee to order. The staff were always really pleasant and helpful. In fact, I felt they couldn't do enough for you so I really appreciate this. If I was this way again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Parking was available at no extra charge and Much Wenlock is an absolutely beautiful Town. This pub was within walking distance (of just a few minutes) from the main parts with shops, cafes and pubs. There was some really historical beautiful building!

Outstanding, this extremely warm friendly inn is family friendly on all accounts. The accommodation is perfect, clean and cosy. Situated in a beautiful village location packed with history with beautiful tutor buildings, dated 14th to the 16th century. The staff owners at The Fox made our 13 year olds birthday breakfast one to remember, with nothing being too much for them. To the evening meal and cook breakfast delicious. Dog friendly, children friendly and brilliant for us adults too. A great bass to visit Blists Hill Victorian town, and Shrewsbury prison, both being Dog friendly and a perfect Family day out.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Double room including breakfast. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious with a double bed, nicely decorated with huge closet en suite and all facilities. The staff were all welcoming and very polite. We ate here on the first night and the food was delicious and piping hot. Highly recommend the lasagne! The bed was comfortable and we were able to open the beautiful old sash window. Breakfast was brilliant. Juice, tea coffee fruit cereal and cooked breakfast all included. The property has lots of character and Much Wenlock was lovely. We hope to stay at The Fox again in the near future. ❤️

The Fox Inn is exceptional value for money. We stayed for one night and had dinner in their bar/restaurant on the evening. The food was delicious… and you can’t go wrong when you get a pint and a meal for £12. The rooms are clean and a good size with an en-suite bathroom. The building has character and is located close to everything in Much Wenlock. The staff/owners are very friendly and accommodating… everything about the stay was perfect for a budget mini-break.

Stayed over for the Christmas Fayre and lantern parade Dec 2023. Olivia & Liz made us feel so welcome, they were so helpful. Had a lovely meal in the evening and a great breakfast the following morning. Thoroughly recommend the Fox, ideally located for touring around the local area. Incredible value for great food in nice surroundings. Efficient service. Obvious 5* but then my Butty Bach arrived. It was undrinkable (and I do know my favourite bitter). Was told curtly it was fine. I left it all but a couple of nasty sips. I was charged for it ... disgraceful.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending a local wedding in 2 superior deluxe rooms. Absolutely superb, rooms large and very clean, food excellent, all staff so helpful and kind they couldn't do enough to make our stay welcome. Superb value for money and would recommend in an instant, couldn't fault anything at all. The Fox knocks spots off your Premier Inns andTravelodges etc. Many thanks again to all.

Having seen other positive reviews for the Fox Inn, particularly when trying to find an eatery which was dog friendly, we decided to give the Fox Inn a go! Upon entering the establishment we were greeted by a member of staff who was exceptionally dog friendly and gave our dog a bowl of water. Table service was efficient, and staff were exceptionally helpful. The food was good value too. Unsure why it wasn't more busy on a Saturday, as we couldn't fault it

Stayed for 4 nights with our dog Barney. Had a lovely stay, the room was clean, well equipped and very spacious. The pub is well run and very dog friendly. The owners Liz & Olivia are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast each day was excellent, really good choice and very well cooked. Doggy guests are offered a sausage at breakfast, which Barney really enjoyed. We ate in the pub in the evening, again couldn’t fault the food or service. Check in time is nice and early from 1.30pm and check out by 10am which gives plenty of time to sort everything out after breakfast. Much Wenlock is a lovely little town with plenty of lovely walks, there are also lots of nice places to visit locally. The locals are very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. This is the nicest, most dog friendly place that we have stayed in and we will definitely return.

Third time now of staying here & each time it's been such a pleasant relaxing time. Food so nice never greasy . Plenty of drinks to choose from & Liz Olivia & Paul are the most helpful pleasant staff you could ever meet Nothing too much trouble . We'll be going back again very soon

Lovely, clean and friendly pub. Only small but the welcome was big. Room nicely decorated and clean, food was first class and good value for money; the breakfast was amazing . Most of the locals were friendly and the staff extremely nice and helpful. Visited other pubs in the area, but were not impressed. Will definitely be back to The Fox.

Very welcoming, happy, hard working staff. Very clean and spacious family room. Accommodating and affectionate to our elderly dog. Great with our disabled 5 year old. Nothing was too much. A very nice breakfast included in the price. A simple quickly served dinner with enough choices. And a well stocked bar with masses of gin choices.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable and a decent size. We had breakfast each morning which was very nice and had lots of options. We ate in the restaurant both evenings from the £12. Menu ( meal & drink) and was very pleased with the quality for that price. The pub is very dog friendly, we don't own dogs ourselves but it was nice to see so many people staying with dogs. Would definitely recommend staying in this pub. We visited The Fox at Much Wenlock this afternoon for a beautiful Sunday roast! I had the roast beef dish and my husband opted for the roast pork, both meals were excellent, lovely food & everything was freshly prepared! Our meals were accompanied by roast potatoes, mash, a selection of vegetables (carrots, parsnip, beans, cabbage), gravy and a Yorkshire pudding for the beef dish, stuffing and crackling for the pork dish. Delicious food and great portions sizes! :-)Love how everything was dished up and sent to our table so we could help ourselves! We were both really full after our delicious mains but we also chose to have a dessert - and I’m so glad we did, although we struggled to finish the puddings were excellent! My Husband had sticky toffee pudding & I opted for the lemon meringue pie (which I can definitely recommend!) ;-)Staff very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them..... all COVID guidelines in place and we felt very welcome and safe throughout our visit. Thanks again, we really enjoyed our meal & we will definitely be visiting you again very soon!I have also attached some photographs of our fab food which will hopefully help you to see just how great it was!

Whilst the restaurant was closed we had a superb B&B experience. Breakfast was fab and every precaution taken with the covid situation.

Pre booked here before going out to a show and hopes were high that this place would be good. How wrong we were. Some idiot had blocked the already tiny restaurant car park up so we had to park on the street nearby. Food was not at all pleasant just overpriced rubbish. Waitress had no personal skills whatsoever, we asked twice for the bill which didn't appear and as the show we were going to was starting shortly we ended up going to the bar to get the food paid for which was a complete calamity, the girl could not work the till and we ended up having to wait around while some bloke redid it for her. No apologies just a stupid grin. Appalling customer service. Never returning, it's like something out the League of Gentlemen!

The very best Sunday Lunch I have ever had. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked succulent meat and lots of vegetables. To top it off the tastiest gravy ever!

We highly recommend the fox for a fantastic Sunday Lunch - we have not had such a good one in a long long time. Everything was cooked beautifully, proper homemade gravy, plenty of vegetables (carrots, sprouts, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, peas, roast parsnips). A choice of Beef with Yorkshire puds (homemade of course!), Pork with crackling and stuffing or Turkey with stuffing. Portions were large and tasty!A good choice of desserts which everyone enjoyed. They were very busy so definitely call ahead and book a table. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning and have already recommended to family and friends. Top marks!

Fabulous Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. Best quality beef and pork with a great variety of veg including roast potatoes and parsnips. Yorkshire puddings light and fluffy. Everything served piping hot. Puddings great too. We will be back!

We arrived without having booked, and although they were quite busy they found us a table within a few minutes.The surroundings are traditional, and lovely. We both ordered roast turkey from the lunch menu, and the service was reasonably quick - and most definitely worth waiting for!Our meal came with plenty of lovely turkey meat, and a proper serving of REAL fresh vegetables! These included carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, roast and mashed potatoes, and a jug of extra gravy. Absolutely excellent! and we had more than enough to eat. We loved it!The gentleman and the young lady who served us were both really nice, very attentive and friendly too. Thank you.To summarise, Sunday lunch is not the cheapest, and certainly not the most expensive either. Weve had plenty of six quid Sunday carveries, and forgotten most of them, but we will most certainly not forget the Fox in Much Wenlock and will most certainly be returning.Highly recommended!

It was getting a little late for lunch (just before 2-30 p.m. )so we were very lucky to get served. As it was so late there was nobody else in the restaurant, and the food we choose really did not go very well with us, it must have been the lateness of the hour, but my wife's grilled camembert cheese, left a lot to be desired.The batter on the cheese was so thick it resembled the batter in a bad fish and chip place..Not one we will visit again.

We were staying just outside Much Wenlock, beginning of September 2019, and wanted somewhere nice for the Saturday evening, have to say the Fox didn’t disappoint. Some of the best food I’ve had out in a while. I had the sea bass which was absolutely delicious with lovely crispy skin and an excellent selection of fresh veg. My hubby had the scampi - wow, huge! Not those poor excuse nugget size! We shared the creamy mushrooms which were divine. Compliments to the chef for not adding salt to everyth8ng and cooking to perfection. The staff were all very nice and the waitress very attentive despite being on her own on a very busy Saturday night. I also have to mention how the chef when asked took the time to tell one table what she could do gluten free. Hope it continues to do well as we will always book in for a meal when visiting the area again.

We had been staying in much wenlock visiting family and really fancied trying the fox as we as a family love seafood and we have heard fantastic things about the menu, all I can say is the chef there certainly knows her stuff , all of our food was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully, I had the scallop starter which was beautiful and my wife had the smoked salmon as to not spoil her appetite for her main which may I add was an absolute show stopper, seafood mixed grill was out of this world , everything was cooked delicately and the seasoning perfect , we could have quite easily have been at a top seafood restaurant, my lamb also beautifully cooked , pink and just melted in the mouth, these guys do not realise how special this restaurant is , a hidden gem and now definitely our favourite, just wish we lived closer , so thanks again all at the fox and well done in what you have achieved during your short time there, we will definitely be back.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. The landlord and staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the pub itself was very pleasant, with a good range of drinks available. We chose meals from a simple bar menu and were more than satisfied. Probably everything one might want from a pub lunch.

Visited for the second time but this time for Sunday lunch. Had a lovely soup starter followed by beef with all the trimmings, the gravy was exceptional.

My husband and I had been walking with our two dogs and headed into the village for some lunch. I popped in to double check that the bar was dog friendly and found the landlord to be extremely helpful. Lunch was more than what we were both expecting and it was beautiful. The atmosphere in the bar was great and will certainly head back next time we visit the area.

We went to the fox on spec for sunday lunch today and what a treat.the waitress was atentave and profetinal and the food was defenantly the star of the show,you will not leave hear hungery with perfectly cooked roast beef and a whole host of seasonal veg and the best gravey i have ever tasted.the chef guesing he is the gaffer kept coming out of the kitchen to check on us you could see the pride in what he was serving and well justified will be seeing you again soon.Roger and Joanne.

We thought we'd try eating at The Fox as we hadn't been in since it was refurbished and was under new management. I phoned on Thursday evening about 6pm and asked for a table for two the following evening. The women who took the booking asked twice for my name and twice for the time I wanted a table, I said 7.30pm.

Superb lunch, as nice a curry as you would get in any Indian restaurant with freshly cooked papadums as well!! All nicely presented, restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service was first class. We will definitely go back.
