Kids came to meet Santa, the entertainer was brilliant and Santa was on top form. The staff were lovely and the whole thing was very well organised. A lovely country pub with a fab looking menu and cosy log fires.

Trying to be something it’s not. Service is slow, no communication between the staff and the kitchen. 30 minutes between courses on a quiet night. Food is overpriced for its quality and was Luke warm when served. Could be so much better.

A very disappointing visit. The atmosphere in the pub was dreadful. Only one person serving in both bar and restaurant despite a number of people in. The ‘chef’ looked like a disreputable character in a peaked cap more suited to the garden than the kitchen. He may have been clean but he did not have the usual chef uniform and it brings health and hygiene into question. The previous chef was always spotless in a chefs uniform. and really looked the part The “new’ menu consisted of a selection of ciabatta with something. We had been hoping for a proper meal . I chose the scampi which appeared to have been thrown together when it arrived. No tartare sauce so settled for mayo that arrived in a horrid little packet not the usual nice dish. Food was cooked adequately so I could hardly complain but certainly not up to the usual standards.and I was far from impressed. It was very overpriced and worked out at about £2 a scampi. Few chips , no salad ,half a dozen spinach leaves and a huge ciabatta that filled the space where the scampi used to be under the previous owners. Not temped to have a second drink . Could not wait to leave. Would not recommend to anyone and will not be going back. New management has not improved the pub and the quality and value for money under previous owners was far higher. I have been going to this pub for thirty years and have never had such a poor experience.

This was an awesome stop that was randomly generated by a burst of hunger while traveling through the region. What a delight. It was absolutely the charm you want to step into while a tourist in England... the kind where you are the only tourist there! The people that were gathered in the pub were absolutely a treat. Friendliest people in the world I dare say. The hosts and owners were fantastic and the food was superbly prepared. I dare say that stopping here may be the absolute highlight of our UK trip. It is unfortunate that we couldn't stay longer. It is worth of note it was SAT evening when we dropped in. Not sure what it is like other nights. Dog Friendly! Huge Car Park adjacent! If you are traveling through the area... do plan a stop. I doubt you will be disappointed.

The New Inn is about a ten-minute drive from where we were staying at By The Wood campsite. We dropped in for lunch one day and enjoyed an excellent meal with good, friendly service. There is an attractive garden area with outside seating which we intended to try on a second occasion, but the weather didn’t fit in with our plans.

Very friendly pub. The food was tasty, definitely no complains. Large portions too. The only, tiny, niggle was that everything came with chips. I would have preferred an alternative, however, the chips were good. 😊

Excellent. We stopped off here for lunch yesterday on our way home to London from a camping trip after the original pub (stipertones Inn) wouldn't serve us food without a booking. Their loss was our gain as The New Inn was a great discovery. The sort of pub you wish you had as your local as it was a lovely experience from start to finish. Immediately the staff were friendly and accommodating. Helping us move from inside to the garden as the weather was nice. A water bowl was provided for our dog and our drinks order taken. The lady serving us even checked what sugar free drinks they might have other than coca cola which was appreciated as I'm diabetic. The food was the real highlight though. My wife had the gammon and pineapple dish and I went for the scampi and prawn on flatbread. I'm not sure who was doing the menu here but they know what they are doing as both these dishes were executed very well. Chips were great, salad was perfect. This is great pub food. They even had Stokes mayo and ketchup which might not seem much to most people but if you know you know. We were checked on multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. These small details make a big difference especially when you have plenty of options on where to visit. The dessert menu also looked excellent. Torture for me as a diabetic of course but had my wife not been full from the main meal and ordered something I would have had a cheeky mouthful of something e.g. cherry roulade and cherry ice cream. We plan on making the Shrewsbury camping trip a yearly event so we will are really looking forward to come back here for another meal and hopefully bring some friends with us. Can't recommend enough.

A friend and I had Sunday lunch here and what a treat! There was a choice of beef or turkey, or you could have a mixed roast, half and half. Also a vegetarian option was available. We had a dish of fresh vegetables, cauliflower, carrots and red cabbage to accompany the meal. Lots of meat, parsnips, stuffing, pig in blanket, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, gorgeous tasty gravy, cranberry sauce, horseradish sauce, we had the lot between us. I had profiteroles for dessert, two very large ones with a large scoop of ice cream. We also had two pots of tea and the total bill was £43. Amazing value. The service was great too from Martin and a lady who was doing the bar and serving the meals. The meal was so tasty, we will be back and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Delighted we Did. A Great Traditional little country pub/restaurant As we walked into the Bar area for our sit down evening meal, as we had our 2 dogs (Westies) with us , there was a lovely lit open log fire which gave an Ambience to the place. We received a very warm welcome from Martin & staff. Excellent service, attentive, nothing too much trouble for them. Offered water for the dogs. Delicious home cooked quality food. Was looking for pub to book into an hour away from birmingham to meet my parents and pick up our 2 dogs. Found this lovely pub when searching for a dog friendly pub with a big car park (as we only drive a big van). Both the big free car park and a dog friendly attitude were confirmed online. Turned up an hour early and the pub wasn't open yet, so we parked in the corner of the empty car park and went for a walk. When we got back we were confronted by a member of staff who complained about our parking. This is normal to us, having such a large vehicle, and we asked where he'd like us to park, we were told to park anywhere else. We explained that we were booked in for lunch and asked if he'd like us to move, and then he asked us to park down at the unpaved end of the car park. Further complications with the same member of staff came up when the dogs arrived, as we where told that we should have informed them that we were bringing dogs and we couldn't have the table we had reserved. We were given another table in the bar by the front door. And the rest of the food and staff were lovely and welcoming. The mood was slightly ruined though by the stressed member of staff that we first encountered. Without that it would be a 5 star visit. Make sure when booking to declare that you are bringing dogs or large vehicles.

My wife and I are staying at a local VRBO and decided to visit the New Inn for dinner and drinks around 6:45pm on a Sat. We spoke with Martin who was extremely friendly and assisted us with seating and drink selection. I always seek out local beers and the New Inn didn’t disappoint with the delicious Darwin’s Original by Salopian Brewery. I had the King Prawns(£7.25) as a starter and the Pan Roast Chicken(£14) for the main. Both dishes were delicious. We sat outside on the patio area which was nice. Secluded from the outside traffic (not that there is much traffic) it provided a great area to relax and enjoy a meal. We will definitely return.

We had to leave Shifnal and come back in , eventually finding a nearby street parking spot in a bay on the main road . The timbered building looks lovely and full of character . Once inside we were taken to our table by a friendly waitress and soon got talking to a friendly couple on the next table . We had booked a table earlier on that night by phone and Christopher ( the owner ) had tried to ring back earlier in the day when we had phoned outside opening hours with no reply. Christopher's also has an on-line booking system via their 'clunky but functional ' website . My wife had a Devilled kidneys on sour dough toast, starter which she was very pleased with . I did not have a starter but had a main of 'Chargrilled Pork Steak on the bone , creamed mashed potatoes and vegetables' [£19.95] which was again very enjoyable. My wife had an 8oz Sirlion Steak , with hand cut chips , vine tomatoes and mushroom [ £24.95] - recent medical situations and medicines have restricted her food intake but apart from a bit of help from the greedy husband with some of the great chips , she was ab$le to eat all the steak and still smile ! I then had an interesting Apple and Winterberry Crumble with custard [ £7.50] - a decent pudding, but I would try a different one when , hopefully , we visit again . The dining experience at Christopher's was , for us, a relaxing and enjoyable one . It is not cheap, but the food is of a high quality and cooked to perfection and therefore well worth the price .

Still superb food and excellent service from great staff as usual. Can't fault them. Such a shame they are closing
