The atmosphere and welcome all seemed fine when we arrived. Drinks were perfect and we were even accommodated to move tables when we wanted to site nearer the open fireplace. The problem occurred when the food arrived. My daughters Lamb Chum Chop, from the specials board, came smelling worse than a dead rat! There's no way that a chef couldn't have know it was off when it was removed from it's packaging/container! It smelt horrendous! My daughter ate a piece and was struggling to cut it with the fork and knife so I lent over to help and that's when I smelt it. My husband's "Specials board" venison burger also came as a slab of mince between two buns. No basic things in the burger such as sauce, salad, relish or cheese even. Hardly what I'd call Specials. The only compensation was 1 drink on the house. Rest assured we won't be going back purely because the food just ruined the evening.

Beware? Not sure if they know about bikes or food. Cycle past is your best option. Food is basic which coinsides with the shop and experience.

Two of us called in at about 3-00pm Boxing Day. We ordered one Korma and one Jalfreizi with a garlic Naan on both. Both were generous on the chicken and one, the Jalfreizi, was oven hot. Sadly the same could not be said of the Korma or either the Naan or the rice - those were cold; suspect they were prepared first and left while the Jalfreizi was heated. Disappointing because it would have been good value and everything else was fine, but a hot meal needs to be hot. Sadly no one came to ask if the meal was ok so unless we left the table, once we had started eating, to seek out an employee we were unable to make someone aware. In all a very poor experience. We come through Okehampton at regular intervals but don’t think we will be stopping here again
