The White Hart in West Devon

Lovely simple, but delicious and generous pub lunch. Really nice, friendly team who make you feel welcome and seem to care that you are enjoying the food. Would love to come back for dinner and Sunday roast.

Two of us called in at about 3-00pm Boxing Day. We ordered one Korma and one Jalfreizi with a garlic Naan on both. Both were generous on the chicken and one, the Jalfreizi, was oven hot. Sadly the same could not be said of the Korma or either the Naan or the rice - those were cold; suspect they were prepared first and left while the Jalfreizi was heated. Disappointing because it would have been good value and everything else was fine, but a hot meal needs to be hot. Sadly no one came to ask if the meal was ok so unless we left the table, once we had started eating, to seek out an employee we were unable to make someone aware. In all a very poor experience. We come through Okehampton at regular intervals but don’t think we will be stopping here again

Lovely country pub went there for a couple of birthday get together they were brilliant staff even brought cakes out and Sang happy birthday made the day even better

Booked here for an early Christmas lunch with family. The food was excellent and very well presented with very good portions. Our dessert were amazing and very tasty!. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We have had other lunchtime meals which have been equally good.

This bar has been a great place to go but we find lately has gone down hill over the last few months is that because of new management

We came here for dinner with no reservation, the staff were so friendly and accommodating, I chose liver and bacon with mash, peas and onion gravy, oh my word!!!, the BEST I've ever eaten, homemade mash potatoes, perfectly cooked liver and amazing bacon paired beautifully with glorious gravy, beautiful inn, wonderful atmosphere, great food, my husband had homemade steak and ale pie with chips and veg and homemade bread and butter pudding to follow, portion sizes are generous so go with an empty stomach, some of the best pub food we have experienced, would definitely recommend and would definitely return, thank you for an amazing meal 👏👏👏😋

Post walk pint for Frodo and Gandalf after 8 miles in Okehampton. Didn't eat here but every table was occupied and the food smelled divine and well priced according to the board. Best pint of Guinness I've had in a long time. Friendly staff and cosy country pub feel.

We visited here whilst in the area for a few days unfortunately we found the White Hart Inn not until our last evening and we wished we found it on our first. The staff were very welcoming and friendly we felt most welcome it kind of made our trip being here. The food was superb and we could not believe the devon prices so reasonable sort it out cornwall! Easy double the price back home half the taste. Plenty of parking, dog friendly, will leave with change. We speak often of going back

A great pub. This is where the locals meet. We were there twice and there was always something going on. Great food and an incredibly nice staff. Pub atmosphere as you wish.

If you are in the area, you shouldn't miss stopping here. We were amazed at the ambience, the super nice service, the pint of beer and the great food. 5 stars!

If you want to be full, come here. Good and generous portions that are very filling. The selection is not that big, but there is something for every taste. The service was attentive and funny. The beer selection is good. The desserts are really great! We had a lot of fun that evening.

Really nice stuff great food popping in for Sunday lunch

Half-way on a circular walk across the fields from Sourton, and we found ourselves in the charming village of Bridestowe. We stopped at the White Hart Inn for a refreshing drink and were taken by the extremely friendly welcome. So much so that we decided to take lunch there as well. The food was excellent, from a very varied menu, and the service was faultless. Our two dogs, Albert & Edith, would also like to express how satisfied they were with the service and that they enjoyed their sausages, followed by ice cream! We would strongly recommend a visit to the White Hart Inn, should you be in the area.

The White Hart is a proper English pub - independent, steeped in history, equipped with friendly staff, comfortable seating, delicious cask ales (in this case from the Dartmoor brewery) and hearty, home-cooked food at reasonable prices. I suspect that the lively atmosphere stems from the landlord himself who likes a good banter and treats his staff and customers with courtesy and respect. Unlike so many of the so-called 'gastropubs' seeping into every corner of rustic Britain, the White Hart is as welcoming to locals and walkers looking for a drink as it is to dining families - and it's all the more endearing because of it.

Went to this Pub for Sunday Lunch based on reviews given & was glad we did. The Menu was a typical fixed Sunday menu offering 2 Roast Meats plus 1 vegetarian option & a selection of desserts. The Meals were generous, well cooked & presented. The staff were friendly & helpful. Can recommend this pub.

(Sept. 2023) Booked in for lunch on the way to holiday accommodation. Chicken salad was tasty, with a bit of kick. Onion rings were a welcome side dish, but a tad expensive at £5.50 per portion. Desert was four scoops of excellent ice-cream. All very good. Drinks were reasonable - £4. 20 for the Dartmoor IPA, and the Pepsi Max was £2,60, which is unusual these days. Service was good, and friendly - no complaints on that score. Dog-friendly in the bar area and plenty of parking. No hesitation recommending The White Hart 👍👍

Popped in on the way back to London for an early lunch. Very friendly and quick service, and a brilliantly simple Sunday lunch menu...roast beef or roast pork plus a veggie option. Good ales too! We wiped our plates clean!

Had a lovely family lunch here recently. Good food, excellent value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were celebrating a family birthday and everyone was so accommodating. A real gem of a village pub. We will return.

Although a village pub in this case it is an absolute bonus! The staff are so friendly and brilliant that even ‘visitors’ are given a very warm welcome - not the same in all village pubs I can tell you. Food is home cooked and delicious. You won’t be disappointed!

Lovely pub in the village , a very warm welcome from the lovely staff when entering . It’s used by locals and visitors everyone was friendly . They have tables in the bar to eat at and a restaurant . We had two good meals there served by very attentive staff . NB at this time ( June 2023) they are not serving meals Mondays and Tuesdays .

We found this lovely pub based on other reviews. It is located just off the A30 , ideal for our journey home from Cornwall. The service was fantastic, they squeezed us in on a busy night and everyone was so friendly! Great quality food, generous portion and lots of gluten free choices for our daughter. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We called into the White Hart for lunch on Friday, on our journey from Falmouth to London. We picked it because of its good reviews, and the fact that it is a very short distance off the A30. What a find! Really friendly staff, lovely pub, great food, great value. We sat outside in the sunshine.

What a wonderful experience. Had the best soup I've ever eaten in my life! Cauliflower/Leek/Stilton. TO DIE FOR!! Followed by a really good home made lasagna and a Belly pork in a delicious sauce. The pub was very busy as it was "fish and chip day" a really good OAP offer for £6.95! Unbelievable and it looked so good. The staff warned us there would be a bit of a wait as they were so busy but they were very accommodating and we were served quite quickly. And was it worth the wait! Could not have been any better. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. Lovely food, bar, staff and the best value for money we have experienced in a long time. Look forward to returning as soon as we can.

Visited the White Hart Inn for evening meals while on a cycle tour of the area. The food was really fantastic, the menu changed each day. Mike and his team gave us a warm welcome and the locals also were very welcoming. Worth looking up if your in the area or passing on the nearby A30.

Great proper pub. Locals and staff easy to get on with. Food is typical pub fare not overpriced faf. Don't try to book a room as they no longer do rooms.

We turned up for the first time as a family (12th August) unexpected in our motorhome to this lovely country pub. We was impressed the fact that the staff fitted us in when the tables was reserved. Lovely staff, delicious food and great price too. The shop across the road had shut but the lovely shop keeper who was in the pub nipped over for some essentials for our motorhome adventure, thank god! It was very nice of him. They are lovely local people. We will certainly return.

Drove miles to this pub to be told at 8.oo pm they could not do food as too busy.

Awesome pub, had the pork and apple burger and finished the last of my Mrs meal when she was done and both were great.

Delightful village pub in the centre of Bridestowe just 15 minutes drive from Okehampton. Excellent food and great atmosphere along with helpful attentive staff. Plenty of parking and dog friendly in the bar. If you don’t like dogs don’t worry they are not allowed in the restaurant area! It’s also possible to walk to the pub from Okehampton town centre or the station. It takes just over 2 hours if you fancy the walk.
