The best restaurants serving British food in Alvescot and Filkins West Oxfordshire South East

I just stopped here for a brief rest while on a long-distance walk, on a mid-week wet afternoon in February, but was struck by how much this felt like a welcoming traditional local pub as well as, clearly, a popular restaurant. Very friendly person serving at the bar too. Will definitely come back for lunch next time I’m here.

Very nice food and friendly service. Recommend the steak pie and the fish cakes. Good value and worth a detour because it’s off the beaten track.

Lovely spot and nice food but they set a wood chipper up outside our room and invited their neighbours to dispose of their Xmas trees! When we complained they did not reply
