The Plough Inn in West Oxfordshire

We called ahead to the pub as we needed a camper stopover close Brize Norton. The landlord Dave was incredibly helpful and we were able to make use of the ample flat car park at the back of the pub for the night we needed. The facilities in the pub are first class and service was excellent - Dave went above and beyond to make our stay an absolute pleasure. Staff and locals were all friendly and welcoming to us. We were lucky it was ‘vinyls night’ so were treated to some great music while we were having drinks in the bar. Highly recommended, I’m sure we will be back soon

We had a perfect lunch at the The Plough 2 days running. The menu was simple and tasty, the service was truly first class. the owner came and talked to us - he has been there for 6 months turned the pub around having undertaken a complete refurbishment. It is now welcoming, warm, accepts dogs and serves great food, Well done,. Most grateful for brightening our day on a wet and windy Thursday. Wishing the pub great success

We had my dad’s 60th birthday here, service and staff were amazing, they set up all the balloons, cake, photo board etc. It looked lovely! We had a party buffet done for 30+ people, food was so good! We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening! Even on a busy night, you all went above and beyond for us all with smiles on your faces.

Last night we went for a meal with the family, from the minute we walked through the door we were treated by the most lovely staff, very attentive and welcoming.......a few drinks down the food came which was top notch - calamari is highly recommended, in fact my mouth is watering now writing this, the main courses were perfect and so was the pudding which we shared. I can not fault the Plough, nice touch also is that the owner was serving and paying attention to what people wanted. What more do you want, price was sensible as well. I am looking forward to booking in for Sunday lunch as can imagine it will be stunning.

We had an amazing Sunday Lunch including two of us who were Gluten Free. The staff and owners were very friendly and proactively let us know what on the menu was suitable (and there was a selection) and nothing felt like too much trouble. The pub is lovely inside and the service was swift. The food was all great quality with clean plates from all of us - a definite hit and somewhere we will visit again!

We stayed at an Air BnB a short walk from this pub and booked a meal here in the hope that the pub would offer lovely food and a nice relaxing night out… Well, this pub exceeded our expectations by a country mile! The pub was absolutely gorgeous and the owners, who were the loveliest husband and wife, were so friendly and welcoming. They were really apologetic as we had to wait a short time for our food (we didn’t feel it was a wait at all) but they were incredibly hospitable and we honestly felt we were eating with friends. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere in the pub was very relaxed and chilled, perfect for a meal with friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we would come back in a heartbeat! We highly recommend this gorgeous pub and we guarantee you will not regret stopping here!

My husband & I ( a couple in our 50s ) heard that this pub was open again under new ownership so thought we would pay a visit for a light friday lunch. The new owners have made a great job of the refurbishments, everything tastefully done. We chose a chicken & bacon club sandwich and the rump steak & onion marmalade sandwich. Both came with fantastic fries and a nice amount of dressed salad leaves on the side. What's not to love! Excellent in fact and we said they were the nicest pub lunch sandwiches we have had in a long time. The bread was lovely and the ingredients all sourced fresh from local businesses. Friendly service with a smile and all for a fair price. If you haven't been before or not been back for a while - give it a try, you won't be disappointed. We will be back again!

Were down in the area to attend Friday & Saturday at RIAT, RAF Fairford. We took our host to the Plough for lunch on the Sunday a thank you or putting us up for our stay. Our son and grandson joined us and we had a very nice lunch - thank you

Dave, Caroline and your team we cannot thank you enough for the way you treated us; from when my dad and brother came in on Wednesday night to when the rest of us came up to Alvescott on Friday. Your hospitality and time you have for all your guests is what makes this pub feel like home! Upon hearing you had only opened 4 months prior you are doing an amazing job. Also hearing that you only have the one chef in the kitchen. We was all just amazed by how well they were doing at producing such high quality, fresh food every day! You have got yourself and are building such a gem that has been put on the map for us and we will be sure to tell others. It was so lovely to meet you all and be able to get to know you on a personal level. What you did for us on the Saturday morning before we took off to RIAT was also just a highlight of your genuine love, for bringing back to the community that heartfelt environment within those walls you are making your own! You are doing a fantastic job, everything was just amazing! Hence why we have already booked up our place to stay for next years RIAT - within walking distance of you at the plough inn! Food was spot on, loved the bar bites menu; that went down a treat each night. Super friendly and welcoming. Pub is light and airy whilst maintaining the character of the cotswold building. Lovely food, beautifully presented. Will visit again. They said they had taken over the pub in march 2024, so it is under new ownership.

Incredible food and service would fully recommend a visit here. Staff were super friendly courteous and caring. We enjoyed the brunch menu and the burgers were especially delicious. I was meant to take photo of the food but we inhaled it before I remembered.

I contacted The Plough on the 27th Feb whilst they were initially closed and due to open on 2nd March. We had recently lost our Father and my Mother was keen to hold his funeral reception at The Plough as this was the pub my parents had had their first date (over 50 years ago!) The Funeral was taking place of the 7th March. I spoke to Dave and he was keen to help us out, given the sentiment of the venue. From start to finish I can not thank Dave, Caroline and the whole team at The Plough enough. They provide a delicious finger buffet that all our guests spoke highly of. Their hospitality was second to none and they literally couldn't do enough for us. Speaking to Dave later on the evening, he told me how they had been let down by some suppliers and had spent the morning rushing around to ensure they delivered all they had promised. They fulfilled their promise and more and we are forever grateful to them.

Afternoon Dinning with my family of 10 in this beautiful gastropub on Saturday. This was my Second visit since the plough had change hands and it won’t be my last. The first time I had the cod check starter and the venison pasta for my mains. Then the club chicken sandwich which came with chips and side salad on my second visit. Food is amazing, plentiful and great value. I intend to try everything on the menu. The cutlery and crockery are of the finest quality. Beautiful flowers in vases on every table. The decor is warm, cosy and immaculate yet spacious with comfortable seating everywhere. I especially love the two large chandeliers that hang from the ceiling in the back area. The staff are very warm friendly and professional. All your needs are meet and nothing is too much trouble.

The Plough has had an amazing makeover under new management. We had dinner with friends on Saturday - it was absolutely fabulous. The service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere buzzing. Great to see the place really busy again! The menu has a great selection of interesting dishes and caters for all tastes. I had the blackened Cod cheek to start followed by Guinea Fowl. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. Our friends had steaks which were all perfectly cooked as ordered and the wild garlic Risotto was fab!. This place is a gem and definitely back on the Gastropub map.

Blown away by the Roast dinner we had today, the service was outstanding, nothing was forgotten, country pub vibes but the food is on another level. Very reasonably priced too. I can’t remember the last time I felt like I had found a place that I can’t wait to return..

We visited for a family lunch and had a fantastic meal. The staff were very friendly and the Plough offers 'half portions' of everything on the menu for the kids so they were delighted. A lovely place for a family meal and we will definitely return.

We visited the Plough, as it had recently opened under new management . What a worthwhile experience! The interior was stylish and welcoming and the hosts were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I had tasted and other members of the family had the club sandwich and the fish and chips. All of the food served was delicious and we shall certainly visit again soon. If you want good service, a warm welcome, a lovely country pub setting and exceptionally good food, then this is the place for you.

I went with my husband and our two boys (7 & 5) for dinner on Saturday evening which was the opening night with the new team. The pub looks great and the team were all so friendly and welcoming. My husband had the risotto and I had the guinea fowl and both were delicious. They don't do a dedicated children's menu but do a half portion of any of the main meals for the children which was perfect for my boys as they had a fish & chips and a burger. A great Chardonnay on offer too so a couple of glasses of that were also enjoyed :) We will most definitely be back! Good luck to the new management team.

Went to The Plough Inn today for a late Sunday lunch at 5.30 pm - that in itself was perfect to find a fantastic venue that does Sunday roasts until a bit later in the day - it was utterly delicious. Due to popular demand the lamb and beef had sold out so we had the choice of pork and chicken - neither disappointed, far from it (but I shall definitely go back for the beef) - delicious cheesy leeks totally flavoursome, crispy roast potatoes, green greens (not boiled or brown) and yummy roasted carrots and parsnips with piping hot and mouth watering gravy - we'll be back and how wonderful to find a such a wonderful local eatery with fab food, fab surrounding and fab service - thank you so much to the lovely new owners and all the staff. It was so lovely that the chef came out to chat to us too.

This is a very cosy and casual pub. We went in on a whim as we were staying in an Airbnb next door. We were starving after travelling all day and the wait for food was a little long but once it got there it was absolutely delicious. I had the pie of the day which was a steak pie with mash.
