Very slow to get a tea and latte around 15/20 minutes. Good value for money breakfast but eggs were like rubber and hash browns very greasy. Was busy and clearly popular but I wouldn’t rush back

Haven’t been there for years. Certainly changed and all for the better. Pub grub but of very high quality. We had different variations of their home made pies. Excellent.

Great old fashioned service with friendly staff. Dog friendly Well kept beer (only one hand pull on) Menu simple but tasty. Dropped in having driven past many times and they were well paced with service and friendly. Will be back.

Those of us who remember the Poet in its heyday will be disappointed at how far the place has gone downhill. For example, a few years ago, it served the best veloute soup and pork belly ever, but today's offerings are really substandard: tepid insubstantial soup, and a dry, tasteless pork belly made in a factory. with really unpleasant trimmings. Again, the service used to be genuinely friendly, but it's now supercilious and fake. For example, our waitress spilt drinks all over my guests, with only the meanest of apologies, and zero offer of compensation. I was planning on not leaving a tip, but when the credit card machine arrived (which I had to wait ages for) it mandated a £50 service charge. To cap it all, there was a small puddle of water under my chair the entire evening, making my shoes wet. God awful place now. What a pity.
