The best restaurants serving British food in Salehurst Rother South East

My husband and I went here for Dinner last night for our anniversary, and the food was outstanding. The service was excellent too. So good we have booked to go back for my birthday.

Excellently located, just opposite to entrance of Bodiam castle. Sufficiently large parking of their own. Place is dog-friendly ! Food was adequate quantity. It was served quickly, even if the place was almost full due to large footfalls to the Castle for the school term break ! Staff is very warm and friendly !

I was at the Ostrich on Saturday night with hundreds (thousands?) of others for the Robertsbridge bonfire. As every year, this pub is extremely well staffed, organised and welcoming. I met a couple who were staying upstairs and showed me their room. It is amazing upstairs, so many interesting things to see!

Only open when there are sufficient staff on duty, it is a small cafe (which can get overcrowded) but there's plenty of seating outside with good views of Bodiam Castle. The staff are friendly and helpful and the coffee was up to the usual good National Trust standard.

Appealing menu. Nice space with tablecloths making it look attractive. Handed menus quickly and told about Specials board. Staff took our food order and drinks, we hadn't been shown drink list, they were friendly. Drinks arrived quickly but waited over an hour for food! We hadn't been told about any delay or wait. Food was tasty but we were so hungry it was eaten quickly. Enquired about wait for dessert and we're told kitchen wouldn't even look at the order for at least 15 minutes . It was ridiculous as we wanted cheesecake with a scoop of icecream which any member of staff could have prepared.
