Situated in a small business park, nestled in the South Downs, I visit this cafe several times a month. A very good menu, with a warm welcome, indoor and outdoor seating and pets welcome. Open weekdays until 2pm

We were invited by my sister & husband to join them for Sunday lunch to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. To be honest the choice & quality of the food was disappointing. The reasons for this comment are; a very limited choice for a Sunday roast, only beef was available, no pork, lamb or turkey. There was only belly pork. The other point being that the main meal was not very hot. We were asked by our main waiter, after we had finished eating, how was the meal and we replied that it could have been hotter, his comments were, he would let the chef know. We were aware of a large function taking place in the main room. This naturally puts pressure in the kitchen but should not compromise the quality of the food served in the restaurant.

We have stayed here several times over the past four years, when visiting family. We have noticed a steady decline each visit. Nobody at reception these days. Room was clean and bed comfy enough. Like the previous reviewer, we did not enjoy breakfast. Tomatoes were almost raw, poached egg was tiny, bacon was barely cooked and the hot water for the tea had a strange taste. We opted on the second morning, to leave without breakfast!

A brilliant independent local countryside pub that still has character, unlike a lot of the bigger brewery chain pubs. Comfortable seating and plenty of space alongside a clean and well maintained interior with the option to sit outside if the weather's good. We came as a table of 5 for dinner, and the service was quick and attentive. The portion sizes generous and value for money were good overall. The burgers and sticky toffee pudding were both brilliant, and there were good words spoken about the Liver and Bacon as well as the Irish coffees, too! Specials boards change regularly, and with drinks, mains, and desserts, we still spent just under £30 per person, including service charge. It's definitely worth checking out and supporting your local
