The best restaurants serving British food in Gosport South East

I went there this evening with 2 friends. I ordered a bottle of Prosecco at the bar (not cheap at £34.50 a bottle!) My friends had found some bench seating to the right of the bar by an empty table, I put the Prosecco on the table and returned to the bar to pay and collect our glasses. Within that short window of time the landlady, Verity, had gone over and grabbed the bottle & cooler off the table and told my friends they couldn’t sit there (there was no “reserved” sign on the table) and made us stand at the other side of the bar, crowded at the end by the wall next to a gentleman eating a meal at the bar. Absolutely appalling customer service. At no point did she apologise, offer to find alternative seating or find us anywhere else we could sit. We were going to order food and more Prosecco, so she lost a lot of money with her unacceptable behaviour. The table we were moved from remained empty the whole time we were in the bar, so there was no need to move us. The people sat adjacent to the table we initially sat on had no problems with us sitting there and were themselves very apologetic for us having been moved. NOT a venue to visit if you value polite and friendly treatment, or even respectful treatment as a human being!

Lovely, welcoming pub with lovely staff and scrummy food. The best calamari we’ve ever had and just a great, cosy atmosphere. Charlie was our waiter and his was helpful, friendly and went above and beyond for us. Definitely recommend

We came for breakfast and we were not disappointed cooked fresh tasty, well presented friendly staff clean cafe and dog friendly perfect

This is the second visit to this café, the first time I found the staff rude but we sat outside and just had a drink so giving them the benefit of the doubt we returned today for food. On arrival there were no seats so we waited until there was a spare table I then ordered my food from a very uninterested member of staff. On receipt of the food my wife's jacket potato was cold in the middle, my sausage and onion roll was overpriced for what I would call cheap sausages. We didn't bother trying to complain about the cold jacket potato as I didn't feel the staff were approachable. So we will just use it as a bad experience.
