The best restaurants serving British food in Esher Elmbridge South East

Make no mistake, The Albert Arms is back! Once the place to go in Esher, recent years have been disappointing, but no longer. New management, a consistently friendly welcome and a fabulous Sunday lunch. Deliciously pink roast beef, a proper Yorkshire pudding, perfectly cooked root vegetables and dishes of green vegetables and simply the best roast potatoes I have ever eaten away from home. Puddings were equally good, sticky toffee with caramelised bananas and ice cream was super and the Apple and red fruit crumble with vanilla custard received a rave review. Please go out of your way to enjoy a splendid lunch in a warm, friendly environment. We will be back. Thank you. PS If you prefer your roast beef less pink, say so, for our party it was perfect. One of the reasons the meat is so good is that is is sourced fresh from from Smithfield.

We have been here several times for family occasions and I have previously given 5 stars. I would like to give 3.5 for yesterday to be honest. We were 10 minutes late but still had to wait a further 10 for our table. Not a biggy. However as it was so busy I felt the service was certainly below that of previous visits. I can't remember the name of our server but she was fine, once we had sought her out which we had to do a few times to chase up drinks orders, ask for more gravy etc. Would like to stress I don't think it was her fault they just seemed a little understaffed

This is genuinely one of the nicest pubs in Surrey, beautiful refurb, lovely beer garden, nice food. Unfortunately it's sometimes let down by staff. On some occasions they're slow to serve, other times they're not clued in to menu options or seating plans. We had one instance where we had questions about the Mothers Day menu and the server clearly had to guess (and admitted it was a guess) until I asked if he could check with the manager/supervisor, who was clued in and very nice. If the staff could just be a little bit more on the ball this would be a 10/10 pub.

Lovely food, very welcoming, great pub much better than it was a year ago, I will definitely be making this an every week event, had the most lovely time, can’t wait till next week taking hubby there for his birthday 🤗🤗🤗❤️

Never go here. We had to queue for 45mins just to get our food. Which was total disorganised chaos. Once we got our food, my son the was continually sick for the next 24hours. He didn’t had have bug so had to be the food!
