Very Disappointed. My partner and I had pre ordered a 3-course dinner from a set menu at this beautiful hotel for Valentine’s Day and were very excited about it. Upon arrival we were the first to be sat, and was told a glass of Prosecco and tap water will be arriving shortly. 25 Mins later our starter arrived, before our drinks. The starter tasted very bland and to be honest tasted like supermarket food. The BBQ sauce for the antipasti im pretty sure is just Heinz BBQ sauce. 10 mins into our starter our glass of Prosecco and tap water finally arrived. At this point there were only half a dozen of tables, not very busy. Our mains arrived promptly after, and were greeted with dry and bland chicken and fondant potato was just awful. Having finished our mains, the plates sat at the side of the table for about 30mins, no one came over to check on us or offer us any drinks. We then waited a further 20 mins for our desserts by which point we had ran out of patience and asked a waitress for the bill. Then a young chap dumps a jug or water on our table, despite already having one and then that same waitress brings us 1 of our 2 desserts, I assume to try and change our minds but having waited nearly an hour for just the desserts, enough was enough. We met a lovely couple who sat next to us who started to have them same problems we did. By this point the restaurant was full and the staff were working very hard but were lacking the basics of customer service. It seemed very unorganised and frantic. We got 50% of the bill but still doesn’t make up for a horrid time. I will stress this is solely based on the restaurant and not the hotel itself. Having worked in the industry myself I understand reviews like this aren’t pleasant, especially when you’ve worked hard but hopefully it will be used constructively.

The Street, EnglandWe were walked through the main pub, quite run down, made obvious by the very bright lighting, to the back of the pub which had a posh restaurant with white tablecloths. We explained that we just wanted a pub lunch but were told that it was the same menu as dinner and that this was the dining area. (which was empty). We assumed it wasn't really a lunch place so left to come back later for dinner, however the atmosphere seemed strange, too bright for a pub, entrance and flooring was very worn and didn't really feel like a country, village pub with casual dining which is what we were after. I'm sure the food is good, but pub dining is not always about the food, comfort and atmosphere is also important however if you want fine dining, white tablecloths and candles - this is the place for you.
