Half of a famous Dickson’s pie, mushy peas, chips and gravy it doesn’t get better than this on a Friday night.

The Monkey is my local and you tend not to write reviews for something so prosaic that you use all the time and frankly take for granted. Having said that I have to give a shout out to the current crop of young staff that make visiting the Monky a real pleasure. Whether in the bar with members of the world famous MCC or in the “posh end” with my wife, the service and banter from Lee’s staff is brilliant.Emmy,Hannah,Adams, Sarah,Patrick, Shanon and many more. A large group of us had The Christmas Menu. Excellent service. The food was all piping hot. We would highly recommend it.. From The Forth Bowling Club. Monkseaton.

Went in for a late meal staff were brilliant and friendly Food was absolutely amazing Desserts were gorgeous and very well presented, Very clean pub will most definitely go again.

Enjoyed a traditional seaside fish and chips here on a cool October Sunday. Food cooked to order - you can wait inside or out and they will call you when ready. There is a seating area inside and a few benches on the pavement directly outside. The fish and chips was delicious - freshly cooked and piping hot, with a decent portion size. Kids enjoyed fish bites meal off the kids menu which was similar - freshly cooked and plentiful. Prices were reasonable. We enjoyed and will return next time we're in Whitley Bay.
