The best restaurants serving British food in Steane South Northamptonshire East Midlands

Amazing breakfast - generous portions, and high quality ingredients, with great tea and coffee too. The owners were so friendly too, and lovely indoor heated setting if required. We went based on the recommendation of others....and they weren't wrong!

We were a party of 5 for Sunday lunch. For once the weather was sunny so the pub was busy. All of our party ordered a roast lunch. I will comment on my meal. Having waited 1 hour the food arrived. My order of a full sized beef lunch was served on a plate so undersized that the food was stacked high. The beef was verging on grey in colour, dry over cooked, and tasteless - perhaps cooked sometime ago and frozen.The honey coated carrots were a nice touch but over cooked. The beans were also overcooked and with the carrots were under seasoned. The potatoes were fine. The red cabbage was a surprising addition but would have been much better if pickled. The Yorkshire pudding was fine but the gravy was thin and tasteless. The staff were excellent .Had my wife and I had not been with friends who live locally our meals would have been sent back. We like to support local pubs. Come on you can do better than this.

This place does not deserve its entry in the Extra Mile. Waited quite a while for a simple baked potato and cheese. The cheese was minimal - a dusting - and too much butter. No side salad or any accompanying food to enjoy. Just under £10. The mark up is huge - effectively 50p to buy ingredients. I mentioned the lack of cheese and my disappointment. Met with lack of interest and no apology or reaction by three staff.

The Rose and Crown Charlton we had Amazing food, Amazing staff, probably the nicest Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages. Definitely worth a visit

Went for a sunday roast whilst staying at nearby silverstone, lovely warm welcome even thou we were 15 minutes early, had a starter of baked brie as a sharing dish followed by a massive roast beef dinner! (3 big thick slices of Roast Beef) Both starter and main were hot delicous and left no room for desert, were checked on a couple of times by staff which was great, many pubs tend to forgt to do this now,. If we lived local, we would definitely use it regularly (110 miles far too travel) but will us it again if in the area. Great pub to go to ifyou'rer staying at or visiting Silverstone Race Circuit about 10 min drive away.
