We had wanted to try here for something to eat for a while but just never got round to it .
We called in bank holiday Saturday and was surprised to find it rather quite .
A small choice of meals but all looked very nice and very well priced .
I chose the liver onion , gravy and mashed potato my wife had the homemade steak pie and chips .
Both were freshly prepared which we were informed by the landlady who was lovely even signing along to one of the songs playing in the background so nice to hear people happy in their job .
The meals arrived piping hot and large portions .
Both meals were lovely and with homemade gravy with both .
2 meals plus 2 large cokes under £20 bargain
We will definitely be back for something to eat soon and although a bit quite today I got the feeling it would be a great pub and atmosphere when busy as such we will definitely be calling for a drink sometime as well .
We were staying locally and usually eat at the Golden Lion in Rossett but as we were here for a few extra days we popped in to try the Alyn as well. Parking's very limited but helpfully there was a sign directing us to the public carpark slightly further down the road. It's nice and bright inside, with welcoming staff. We went for the two course deal and had plenty to choose from. Food arrived fairly quickly, nice and hot and well presented. Dessert took a little longer but the light, fruit crumble was cooked to order. Good value and nice surroundings - we've now got too good placeson our list for eating out when we stay in Rossett.
MIL hated everything, my husband and I enjoyed ours apart from the ribs in BBQ sauce, the sauce had no flavour and the ribs were extremely fatty and chewy. I think it is rather expensive for what we received.
Have now been half a dozen times and its the same every time - slow to take an order, slow to serve the food unbelievably slow to get a bill and take payment. The foods good, the prices are reasonable but with 5 staff in the place during our last visit and only 6 customers the poor service is the reason we now go elsewhere.
