This will not be the most atmospheric venue you will ever have encountered but stick with it. It certainly won't be the most sophisticated either as, at seven o'clock on the dank September evening that we walked in, two regulars sitting at the bar appeared to be in earnest and intense competition over who could use the eff word most often in any given sentence. However, as they both left soon after we arrived, the expletives dried up leaving us to enjoy a drink at our table in the window and order what the pub is now well known for, namely pizza. And the pizza is first class, a bottle of wine can be had at a reasonable price and certainly better value than ordering by the glass, and the staff do their very best to make you welcome. You order at the bar but the food comes to you. A basic, crisp based pizza with tomato, cheese and pepperoni will set you back £12.50 with an extra pound giving you the likes of extra mushrooms or fresh chilli. You cannot fault the quality or the traditional method of preparation with a large oven set at the rear of the pub. We booked a circular table in the window that looked out over this lovely old market town although being a Thursday we needn't have bothered but come Fridays and the weekend do make a reservation to get a window seat which should keep you far enough away from those blokes who like to throw eff bombs about at each other. And, if you enjoy a very good pizza at a very competitive price, then do go. There is certainly no need to dress up.

Great food at reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Love their sausage rolls so much we went back several times in just a few days. This will be our last stop in the morning as we head to London. We will be taking some of their sandwiches and sausage rolls when we go.

Great coffee, but what has happened to the scotch eggs…it was great to be able support such a wonderful grassroots local company

Well what can I say like most of my decisions in life I went in bare back, having not seen the reviews. First impressions from outside. I thought it was a derelict building. With a small sign, hardly no lighting and a sheet hanging in the top window. On entering it’s like I stepped into Harry Potters bedroom. Such a waste of space and no decor. Moving onto the staff. When I first walked it I thought I was going to be slapped about a bit by the female at the counter. This however, I got wrong, she took our order which I will say the prices are very reasonable. While waiting for the food. I pictured what I could do with the wasted empty space. A good cobweb clean, a scrub, a paint, some pictures and some chairs. At this point I was really questioning whether I was indeed in a Chinese takeaway. Food came and we began our quest through the great halls of Hogwarts. Now onto the food. The food was actually excellent. Well priced, big portions and tasty. The ultimate test was the morning after toilet consistency. Which I can report came back with good results. Listen people. It may not look nice, and feel like you’ve stepped into Tudor times however, it’s the food that counts and to me it was spot on. I will be going back.

Old place, they told us that they were going to renovate it, the accommodation cost 80 and they don't have many, clients have a side access.
