We went for a family get together and all had the Sunday Roast. The food was very bad, undercooked roast potatoes, the meat was tasteless and the watery gravy was swimming with grease. Such a shame as we used to love the roasts here. Sadly, we will not return unless under better management.

Came here for food the food was fine however the experience was a rather odd one . The lady serving behind the bar called me over to have a word . She told me that my children were not allowed to the bar to ask for anything . One had asked for a glass of water and the other asked for some sauce. She told me it was law they can't go to the bar ?never heard this before and a slight joke considering there was a 8 year old child behind the bar serving drinks !!! Not welcoming and very strange customer service. It's off putting seeing the waiters smoke as they clear tables to . I also heard the lady working telling a customer the chef feels poorly ! Great when there cooking there food !

Really poor Sunday carvery. That was a small amount of need left which I can only describe as looking like a old leather shoe, if that was me I would have taken it away and say we’d ran out rather than have it on show. We all ended up having Turkey as that was the best looking option. Veg was clearly frozen and warmed up. There’s no excuse for not using fresh veg on a carvery. I was also told by the chef to”dig to the bottom of the veg as it will be warmer” and it was luke warm at best. Probably the worst carvery we’ve ever had, wouldn’t recommend

The menu was varied and we started with a lovely Leek & Potato Soup with crusty bread & butter and then I had Scampi & Chips and my husband had Gammon & Chips. We followed this with a coffee each as we had no room left for dessert. Couldn't fault the meals or the soup they were excellent as was the service given to us by Amy. The food is all home cooked on the premises, nothing prepared bought in. The sweets (puddings) all homemade too. I have had a few good meals here. Saturday night meal superb, Beef and veg pie in puff pastry (gravy in it) with chips and peas and a boat of nice thick gravy. I love gravy on chips. Pud for me was cherry and raisin pie with choccy ice cream( which had chocolate bits in it. Their fish finger burger is good and so was a blue (walking) steak I have had previously. Good prices, super friendly landlady and stall. If you think that you cannot afford to go out for a meal, think again. Massive car park at the back and outdoor seating and kids play area too.

Decided to pop out for lunch and sit in the garden as weather was boiling. Tables were well spaced. I only noticed 1 hand sanitising station. Arrows for one way system but wasn’t well enforced. Menus had been laminated but they weren’t regularly wiped, let alone wiped every use. Children were on the climbing frame, this should be taped off, one for bacteria, two the plastic slide would’ve been boiling! Not safe. I know sometimes you have to rely on the common sense of the general public but that rarely exists. Only appeared to be 2 girls working on a hot lunchtime they must have been exhausted. I only stayed outside so don’t know what inside was like but there was requirement for more than 2 workers. We all had baguettes and enjoyed them. First time I’d ever been. Will return.

Decided on steak only to be told as they were cooking it they had ran out of peppercorn sauce I had ordered. Chips were cold and hard, over cooked an understatement. They had plastered my very limp warm salad with balsamic vinegar which was all over my steak and mushrooms. Completely spoilt meal. My partner had all day breakfast, he ate it but was very small portion, not what expected for price. Would not eat here again. No wonder this large pub only had one other couple in.

Popped in on Sunday for apparently the Best Carvery In Town, even tho we were second in the queue, a very rude family of 6 charged past us which was quite funny, the staff are very pleasant , I had the Turkey and Gammon, the Turkey even tho she cut it waiter thin was delicious so was the gammon. But unfortunately all the Veg was pretty tasteless, you have to season veg properly or its just not worth eating. The roasties were awful, just like pure lard, Parsnips ok, carrots, tasteless, peas tasteless, cauliflower whatever was Mish mash overcooked, cabbage was good, spuds overcooked no taste, the swede needed a bit of flavour too. So very disappointed for the money, we've had good food here before but it's going downhill , it was £4.20 for a pint of Butty Bach which is Shocking. Need to up their game as so many other carveries in the area. Wouldn't return as the Veg is just as important as the meat albeit waiter thin. :-(

Don't bother visiting this place, it's the worst CARVERY ever, over cooked, tasteless veg, meat dry, my husband ordered a meal off the menu (gammon and chips) and that was disgusting as well, first visit and will be our last, chef very rude, rest of the staff were lovely. Nice pub rubbish food

I have read a few of the negative comments on here and am truly shocked. We have been here on numerous occasions and it is our go to choice for a Sunday roast, this carvery is truly unbeatable, my only problem is that I put too much on my plate and rarely have room left for pudding. Recommended 100%

Visited today with my elderly parents...what a huge mistake. The lady who took our drinks order was abrupt and looked miserable, when we were getting our carverys i simply asked the lady carving the meat if she had any other Yorkshires as they were nearly black, she was rude and did not want to help...not great seeing as we had paid nearly £11 each for carvery, the lady was very conservative when cutting the food....looked like she'd given up on life as well as the bar staff. after getting our food and sitting down i was horrified when my mum found a short black hair in her beef, it was horrendous and ended up ruining our whole day, after speaking to the manager who basically called me a liar!! i was appalled at the customer service (lack of) we gave up and went to the horsehoe inn and had a lovely meal. i am currently drafting a letter to health and safety to raise my issues. avoid like the plague

We went here last Sunday. We hadn't booked, but they had a table for us. Must say the carvery was lovely, we both had Beef and it was delicious, plenty of veg etc to choose from we will definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Visited the full pitcher on a thursday lunchtime as a group of 5 with babies. very warm so we sat outside. Good selection of burgers & baguettes. Lots of room to sit and not worry about babies crying etc. Would recommend.

Myself and 4 of my friends met for lunch last Thursday! Meeting for a catch up with young kids and babies can be quite stressful but the full pitcher was amazing and myself my friends and the kids loved it!! The food was prompt and so tasty!! And HUGE portions! The staff were smiley and friendly and could not be nicer and more accommodating to the little ones , considering we moved all their outside furniture to fit all of us and push chairs in! We will 100% be returning for one of our mummy catch ups soon!!

Very good Carvery, Beef was melt in your mouth, the stuffing balls, were excellent, possibly the best I’ve ever tasted. Great choice of vegetables, my preference would have been for the swede mashed and mash potatoes instead of new, but really, that didn’t detach from a lovely Carvery.

Firstly the tables were sticky and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a while. Using a napkin I cleaned it myself and the napkin was black after I wiped the table. I had the lasagne, which was awful.. the lasagne sheets were rock solid, the meat was tasteless and rubbery. The veg was just as bad! I don’t really know how they can make peas and carrots taste as bad as they did. My partner had the fish, that was just as bad.. watery and tasteless. We won’t be going again that’s for sure

I have eaten here 3 times over the last 6 months - each time on a Sunday lunchtime for the carvery. Each time I have enjoyed the meal. Choice of 3 meats - usually big roasted joints that are well cooked. Choice of veg in an open ‘help yourself’ arrangement - they offer lots of different vegetables, stuffing, bubble & squeak, etc.. It is fairly priced, the staff are friendly, today is was virtually empty, but on other times we have had to queue. It is not gourmet food, but traditional decent quality Sunday Roast fare. Far better than the likes of Toby Carvery, and not as good as the more expensive boutique Sunday lunch restaurants (such as the Verzons). I would recommend to anybody who wants a traditional ‘British Pub’ Sunday roast, and I have no doubt my family will ask to return.

Visited here for lunch and had the carvery which was not too bad, however the stuffing I gave up on as it was hard and not good.

A long wait for drinks, seemed short of staff, food not as good as other wetherspoons, jacket potato served with no butter, all meat on the mixed grill overdone

Good atmosphere but tables don't seem to get cleared and cleaned very quickly probably because of lack of staff?I had the Sticky Chicken which was very spicy and I enjoyed it.

Pleasant and efficient service. Good value food with plenty of variety on the menu and a well stocked bar. Also dog friendly.
