The best restaurants in Old Cleeve West Somerset South West

The size of the rooms precludes the employment of staff and limits the number of covers they can offer. The result is an intimate meal of many small plates. Delicious but crowded!

Great welcome from the hosts, who gave great advice on things to do and see in the area. We had a lovely 1 night stay at the Notley Arms. Lovely clean and comfy room. Great evening meal and breakfast in the pub which had a great atmosphere. We would stay here again.

The landlord was very welcoming and courteous. I arrived before opening time but he made time for me. Superb location. Loads of character.

We visited The Valiant Soldier for Sunday lunch , the restaurant was very busy , so we were glad we had reserved a table . Service was very good and the food was plentiful . Our server noted that we didn’t want large plates of food and we received what we had requested . Well done … A lovely Sunday lunch , so pleased we had chosen the Valliant Soldier for our last holiday meal . The restaurant is in a lovely riverside setting with a garden seating area .

Avoid! Arrived at 3pm to check in and the place was locked up, no one there at all! Someone who lived there arrived and said that he would get someone for me. They unlocked the door when they went in but there was no member of staff in sight. Tried calling the owner 5 times but all went to voicemail. Contacted Experia who also could not get hold of the owner. I then had to change my plans and return home. At 6:24pm, the owner text to ask what time I was going to check in. I called straight away but went to voicemail. The owner then called me back, I said that no one was there to check me in so I had to change my plans and leave, he said he would process the refund. Today, I had an email from Experia to say that they could not get hold of the owner and, therefore, could not authorise my refund. To say I am annoyed is an understatement. My money was taken, the service was not provided and I am not getting my money back. Avoid at all costs. If you do go, it is not as advertised either as the restaurant and bar are closed. Would give 0 stars if i could.

Beautiful place gorgeous food lovely service

Lovely little pub. The food was amazing. The portions were huge! Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be back.
