Avoid! Arrived at 3pm to check in and the place was locked up, no one there at all! Someone who lived there arrived and said that he would get someone for me. They unlocked the door when they went in but there was no member of staff in sight. Tried calling the owner 5 times but all went to voicemail. Contacted Experia who also could not get hold of the owner. I then had to change my plans and return home. At 6:24pm, the owner text to ask what time I was going to check in. I called straight away but went to voicemail. The owner then called me back, I said that no one was there to check me in so I had to change my plans and leave, he said he would process the refund. Today, I had an email from Experia to say that they could not get hold of the owner and, therefore, could not authorise my refund. To say I am annoyed is an understatement. My money was taken, the service was not provided and I am not getting my money back. Avoid at all costs. If you do go, it is not as advertised either as the restaurant and bar are closed. Would give 0 stars if i could.

We went to the open mic at the Washford Inn a few days ago. Everyone was very friendly and we were made very welcome. There is a limited choice of beers, but as we drink Guinness and bottled beer that was fine. We got what we wanted. We will definitely pop in again if we are in the area.

Booked via Booking.com back in May 2024. Tried contacting Washford Inn a week prior to our stay,to check if breakfast was included and if we would need to book a table for the evenings we were staying. No reply x4 (various times during the day and evening over 3 days, then I left a messahe for them to call me(Never heard a thing)emailed booking.com and got no reply either. We arrived on Friday pm as per booking and went to check in,The person looked very surprised about the booking, then checked the diary and then checked the laptop and said he would be back in a few mins. I asked him if breakfast was included in the £80 per night stay, his reply was yes. We were waiting for some friends to turn up,so we thought we would have a drink whilst waiting,No draught beers or ciders, just cans and bottles from the fridge(very disappointing) Our friends arrived and we set up our display ready for the WSR 1940's weekend after that we went up to our room. Now this is another chapter,Hall ways and landings very damp and smelling of dog,the decor is very dated and worn,Magazines on the tables from 2022.There is junk just thrown in the corridors. No tv in the room,Just the bracket on the wall.Traffic noise is just like the windows are open, cobwebs all round the curtains,Just generally run down.We stayed as we didnt have much choice as the weekend was planned sometime ago Friday evening was quiet,no food available so we went out to eat.Next morning after a sleep interrupted from traffic noise we went down for breakfast. Breakfast was going to be 20 mins the lady said,Ok we replied she brought us tea and orange juice while we waited,Then the full English came out(looks good) I had to ask for brown sauce and ketchup,so we tucked in.When the lady came back she said that breakfast was extra to our room charge,I said it was included as I had enqiired at check in and she turned away and grumpily mumbled something under her breath and walked off,We ate and left as there was nobody around. Stayed Saturday had a few cans and bottles for drinks as No draught beers, lagers, ales available,9.15 am Sunday we packed up and left,no lights on in the bar or sign of any staff,so we assumed there was no breakfast available,so we left the key and got breakfast elsewhere. What an awful experience! I would not recommend this place to anyone.

No problem there but asked me again if I'd paid when we were leaving, bearing in mind there was myself, my 2 aunts and a table of 4 eating. (One lady was eating off a split, wooden board thing, Yuk!). How could she forget me lol, we were the 6th customers in there! Never again!

A welcoming bunch of people with some great choices for food and drink. A spacious interior that was comfortable and well appointed. The beer garden allows space for dogs to spread their legs as well as views of the steam train as it passes (within meters), for a wave to the riders and drivers.

We were driving back to Minehead when we came across this nice looking pub on the main road. Warm welcome on arrival, nice inside. Unfortunately they had run out of real ale and draft beers, when I asked for Guinness as a substitute, that had run out too. Luckily, they had one bottle of Doombar left, so I bought it rapidly. They did have "Inches" cider for my wife, so she was happy. My son only drinks Coke, so he was happy too. Other people did venture in, but left when they were told that had no Guinness or Ales. A pity really. But the bartender also informed us, that the whole bar had been empty for 2 hours, prior to our visit. To summarise, nice place, but phone to check they have ales before visiting. Friendly staff!

All the images on trip advisor are false and there is no way the food or chef who cooked it, could reach the standard the images portray. The service was ok and the staff were nice but it was very slow and all the dishes came out at different times. The quality of food was disappointing as there was no flawless dish out of all the meals we ordered. There were six of us and we got starters and mains, however every dish came at a different time and was cooked poorly or didn’t have good flavour. The portions were tiny for the price they were selling at, and were not worth the price at all. I had “jumbo prawns”, however there were four regular sized supermarket prawns with a poorly made mango salsa that came out five minutes later and still had skin on. We were also asked if we wanted the items with the meal that were stated on the menu such as the mango salsa. I then had “chicken and rice” with five pieces of tiny dry, overcooked chicken with horrible sweet rice. There were lots of items on the menu they couldn’t provide such as all the burgers and pasta. The atmosphere was sad and depressing despite what other reviews say. Do not attend under any circumstances. The chef should be replaced or told how to cook acceptable meals for this price.

On the whole the food was OK especially onion rings. But if you have a T-bone steak ask for a substitute of the rosti potato which was awful. Dried, baked out with the consistency of a rubber ball. Also, ask for the steak to be cooked the next notch up i.e. if you like medium.rare ask for medium and so on. Staff nice & friendly. A few tweaks and rating could have been much higher.

We drove past on our anniversary and thought it looked like a nice place to eat so we booked a table for the evening. We arrived a little early and were told our table was ready but we couldn't order until our booking time, ordinarily (in a busy place) I'd think nothing of it but there were only two tables waiting for food there. Surely if we could sit then we could eat right? We placed our drinks order with the gentleman with his nose sat on top of his face covering, he took the order to the bar and told the younger gentleman (who also doesn't know how to correctly stow his nose in his face covering) and the drinks were delivered promptly, now we wait. The older gentleman returns to take our order and seems excited by the food we have chosen which is great to hear, unfortunately my meal was quite under whelming. I could quite easily pick up the same rack of ribs from aldi, I had to remind them to bring my chips, the mushrooms were almost cremated and the steak (my wife had) was overcooked and also under whelming. We order another drink for my wife and wait, about 10 minutes later we have to remind them we have ordered a drink and it turns out it's been sat on the bar waiting for us (do remember the bar isn't even at half capacity)Our food is finished and taken away, now we wait. Staff walk past and chat with other tables and we decide to actively ask for puddings. Our order is taken, but they've run out of vanilla ice cream to go with a chocolate bomb. Now on top of the experience I have witnessed staff walking in and out of the one way COVID system, expose noses and in some cases remove masks from the face completely. There was no signage outside to tell you which of the three doors to enter through (unless you walk all the way up to each one at random checking). There was also no atmosphere at all. No music until we were about to leave and it all felt very quiet and awkward.Bang average experience. With all the other competition nereby I'd recommend going somewhere else.

We stopped off here on spec on the way back from a day out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the Covid measures were good. Having a drink on the grass at the side of the pub was nicer with slightly less noise from the road than sitting out at the front of the pub.The food was mixed. There were the ubiquitous fish and chips, scampi and chips and burger and chips. We both had the crab cakes for starters, which were good - the griddled asparagus garnish was a nice touch. However, the “free-range poached egg” specified on the menu was missing. For main course, I had the warmly spiced Mediterranean vegetables with couscous. The dish was 90% couscous, very few vegetables. I couldn’t detect any spices, warm or otherwise - in fact the whole thing was very bland indeed (and I say this as someone who doesn’t add salt to their cooking or at the table!) My partner fared better, choosing the Hunter’s chicken, which was tasty and came with petit pois, asparagus and excellent crispy sweet potato chips.

Noticed this place when passing on a Sunday and judging by the cars outside it was very popular. Decided to call for an evening meal and were not disappointed. A friendly welcome and quickly seated as it was not too busy (it was 8 pm so the main rush was probably over). The menu is not extensive but we found adequate choices for ourselves. The meals arrived promptly and were of decent size. They were both very good and I was glad that I had only chosen the half rack of ribs as that was more than sufficient! We finished off with the Baileys cheesecake which were the biggest we have ever seen and rounded off the meal splendidly. The bill was very reasonable and yes, we would certainly return if again visiting that part of Somerset.

We were staying locally and decided to take a car ride out to find a pub for lunch. Upon finding The Washford Inn, we thought it looked a little expensive but decided to go in anyway. What a fantastic idea, the staff were lovely, Covid rules were strictly adhered to but ... the food came out and it wasn't only the portion but it was cooked to perfection. I myself had a ploughman's lunch which would have fed three people! The relish was delicious, and the ham was extremely tender, the potato salad was amazing. It was nice to hear people just talking about life and the ups and downs that come with it. The food was ok. My parents came to visit and I said I would treat them to a meal at Washford Inn as we've been before (pre Covid) and all enjoyed it, sadly we didn't realise that it is no longer hearty pub grub, rather 'gastro' meals. The 'rack' of lamb was One chop (4 bites) and mostly fat. One large potato and some carrots (for £13.95) I was still hungry when I finished. My mums pork and apple pie was actually a fair size BUT it had lumps of fat in it which she cannot stomach. My Dad's belly pork was tough and he wasn't impressed. My 3 year olds pizza was over cooked and rock hard so she couldn't eat it. All in all I would say it was certainly over priced and you would need 3 courses to feel in any way satisfied. The bar maid (although friendly) didn't have a clue about the menu or the drinks on offer, she went back to the bar/chef 3 times to answer simple questions like 'what larger have you got'. For anyone wondering why I didn't speak up there and then, I suffer with severe anxiety and was feeling bad enough that this was my idea and I had disappointed my parents enough without causing a scene. Sadly we won't be returning.

Visited for Sunday Lunch. No menus provided, no prices shown. Given choice of meat for a plated roast. Drinks came fine. Were given a tea cup with sachet sauces in ketchup, mayo and brown - for a Sunday lunch!? Dinners came out. Meat cold, four tiny carrots and two thin sticks of broccoli. Stuffing cold. No table check, nobody came to ask if we wanted more drinks. Called waitress over and explained issues, more meat then came out but it was warm not hot and pork instead of turkey ?! Didn’t get offered starters and dessert were scribbled on a board. We got the bill and left. Wasn’t great and they are missing a trick as we would have had three courses and lots more drinks. Called in on Monday and had 2 pub classics. The staff were amazing and the food was very good. on the strength of this visit we went back for dinner on the Wednesday The waitress recognised us and we again had very good treatment. we both ordered the lamb from the dinner menu. When it arrived the waitress quickly asked us if it was ok and we agreed it was although we had barely started on the food. As we got into the meal our opinions quickly changed. I soon lined up five pieces of carrot .I could not tell if they were bad or burnt. The potato dish was bland and under cooked. The rack of lamb consisted of two small very fatty chops that had pink meat but this meant that the fat all around was too undercooked for us to eat. Both plates went back with very little eaten. the waitress asked us what was wrong and I told her that it was not very good.We both had a sweet afterwards to get rid of the fatty, greasy taste. It hurt to pay just over £50 for 2 sweets, a beer and a glass of wine!

We spent a very pleasant couple of nights at the Washford Inn. This place has fairly recently come under new management and they are making a real effort to run a great establishment. The rooms are in the process of being refurbished and we were made aware of that before our stay. Having said that, they were at a very decent rate. The bar and restaurant area is very spacious and lends itself well to large groups/families, as well as smaller groups/couples. The drinks are competitively priced and so is the food. We had the Sunday Roast on our last day - very nice and a real 'bellybuster'!I have to disagree with the last reviewer, regarding Covid measures. There was hand gel and wipes when we came in, everyone had their details taken in accordance with regulations and there was a one-way system in operation. Short of demanding everyone wear biohazard suits, I really don't know what else could have been done. All in all, a very pleasant place to be. Thanks to Neisha, Steve and their staff, all of whom were extremely polite.

I will start by saying that the Washford Inn is very Covid secure - good social distancing, hand sanitiser, so no worries there. Unfortunately that’s where it stops. I had the faggots - they were fine - just a massive portion which I couldn’t eat all of - but that’s not a complaint at all. My husband had the ‘lasagne’ .......well it was called lasagne!! Now I have eaten many lasagnes in my life, but never have I had a cheese lasagne! My husband’s ‘lasagne’ had a sprinkling of meat, no tomatoes and hardly any pasta. And it was absolutely swamped in cheese - it was in fact, a bowl of melted cheese with a small addition of lasagne ingredients! Having said all of that, the staff were lovely and friendly - I just think they need a new chef!

We visited the pub for food and it was disappointing. The staff were friendly enough but the food unfortunately wasn’t great. For example, the lasagne was greasy and the chicken was very dry. Food and drink from our order was forgotten or never arrived. One large party of guests weren’t social distancing, and greeted a group who joined them with massive hugs and hand shakes all round. Fair enough, but they were using the same loos as everyone else (no loo roll in the ladies, by the way) going in and out to smoke and pushing the doors open, and generally getting too close to other diners. Unfortunately this wasn’t handled at all by the venue, who could have had a quiet word.

We decided to try the Washford Inn for lunch and booked for 1.30pm. Got there a bit early but that wasn’t an issue. We opted for the £10 menu which offers a house wine, beer or soft drink with your meal, and I chose the homemade beef & Guinness pie with mashed potatoes (could have had chips) and peas, and my partner chose faggots which also came with mash and peas. I have to say, the portions were impressive and the pie was easily the best pie I have had in years. The beef was so tender, with absolutely no gristle, and the sauce was thick and beery! Happily, the pie was topped with shortcrust pastry rather than the dreadful puff pastry lids that disintegrate and go everywhere(!) The faggots were declared delicious too and were the size of a large Scotch egg!! By the time we left there were more people eating. I can’t speak for those who gave poor reviews, but please give this place a try. We’ve booked for Sunday lunch in ten days’ time and are looking forward to their carvery ...... if it’s anything like today’s lunch we will be very happy.

After reading the reviews we decided to travel to the Washford Inn for a family meal and what a disappointment it was.First there was confusion over the table which we had rang up and booked earlier that day but finally managed to get seated.Waited for 20 minutes for somebody to come over and take our drinks order after they had said they would, in the end we decided to go to the bar and sort ourselves out. There was then another 20 minute wait for the menus to arrive which was very limited already but then started hearing other customers being told the majority of the dishes were not available/changed. Others that had arrived well after us were getting served before we did. After nearly an hour of getting ignored and still not having our order taken we decided to leave.

After reading amazing reviews, we were excited to take our boys here for tea.To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Went from bad to worse...wrong menus given, standard sauces missing, kids food served and finished before we received ours, waited the best part of an hr for 2 steaks. These were definitely not worth the wait, worst steak I’ve ever been served, tough as old boots. Cold sauce. Food did not match the menu description. We were then advised it would be quicker if we paid at the bar.....it wasn’t. No please or thank you and a mumbled apology for the wait and started serving someone else mid transaction. The waitress was the only saving grace, polite and kind to our boys and she did offer us a couple of free drinks. And explained they have had a lot of complaints about the steak (shame we weren’t told at the start of the meal!)Thoroughly disappointed, not worth the money and will definitely not be returning. Save your money!

Went for dinner here with my husband and we weren’t disappointed. We were told that there would be a delay for food as there was a party of 15 dining. Our starters came fairly quickly and were delicious. We chose Brie with red onion chutney and tempura prawns stuffed with mango and chilli jam on a bed of mange touts. We had to wait for our main course but didn’t mind as we sat outside with our two dogs. One of the owners kept coming out to check we were okay and to apologise for the delay. All the staff were wonderful. So friendly and caring. We thoroughly enjoyed our main courses too. Hale with new potatoes, vegetables and hollandaise sauce and chicken with chips and peas. Great place. Would highly recommend. Dogs welcome

New owners recently taken over the Washford Inn (2020). The menu is more pub grub and traditional food, which I prefer. The staff and owners were really friendly and helpful in these strange times. I had the Quiche salad with chips . Very tasty. It was all table service but whether that will continue when we are back to 'normal' I don't know.

Eaten here twice in one week. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Last Sunday’s roast dinner was just delicious. All locally sourced produce which I fully support. The beef was just amazing! Husband and I decided to go for lunch today and we weren’t disappointed. I had veggie bean burger, chips and dips and husband had ham, eggs and chips which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Do support your local pub, this is such a great pub to eat and drink with a beautiful Somerset view.

Next to Washford heritage railway station this is a pub that has struggled in the past with the disadvantages of being an Enterprise Inn, having new management every six months. Now seems settled with a nice couple offering dog-friendly hospitality and good pub food. No real ale on our.visits but a reasonable destination for lunch at the end of the Mineral Line walk from Watchet.

My family and I had dinner on a Thursday evening and all 4 of us thought our respective meals were excellent. My wife and I had ribeye steak with all the trimmings and both steaks were good quality meat and cooked perfectly medium/rare. Our children had chicken nuggets, chips/peas and can be fussy with their food but both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Our daughter had warm chocolate fudge cake for dessert with cream which looked amazing and made me seriously reconsider the diet plan I am currently on......somehow I managed to resist it despite her telling me how delicious it was with every mouthful!Landlord, landlady and the funny little chef were very accommodating really pleasant.Highly recommended!

The chap that runs the Washford inn needs to learn some manners. No welcome, or please or thank you. Just got glared at. Considering we were the only people in the pub... we were not greeted at all... how can someone who works in customer service think this is acceptable? The only time he spoke to me was to tell me the price of the round. No hello, no thanks when I brought all our empties back, no please when staying the price of a round. Unbelievably rude.

Steak was very tough (so tough it should not have been served). When I informed the waiter at the end of the meal he just said that I should have mentioned it earlier when he asked if everything was ok. This was fair enough but I did not want to wait for a replacement as I was in a group of 4. No hint of an apology though. The restaurant was so cold that two of our group put their coats on (the heating was not on at all). Others had fish and chips which was ok. Prices are very reasonable if you want a basic pub meal. Some of the staff were scruffy and there was not a great feel to the place. Next time we will book earlier to get in at the Masons Arms in Williton (more expensive but a world apart).

The breakfast was awesome, cooked to perfection! Loved the bread from the local bakery!!

Excellent meal and great value for money. Tuesday is 25% off the grill so that meant money off my partner's steak (which he said was delicious). There are other specials on different nights of the week. I had scampi and chips which was also delicious. We shared a waffle with strawberries and ice-cream and that was amazing. Large portions, food really hot. Parking is really easy and plentiful and the place is very dog friendly. The owners were really friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely meal at The Washford Inn, the steak was cooked to perfection and the portion size was very generous. The service was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There was a happy atmosphere which was great. It is always good to see pubs planning fundraising events to help the community and live bands which The Washford do.

We were travelling back to Minehead and came upon this Pub, it is in a small village with local Steam train. The pub itself is a typical village pub, although I will say very very clean. We had dinner and were all very full and very impressed. The food was of a good standard, the staff very welcoming, It is a shame we are heading home tomorrow as we would definitely use again, if we are in the area we will visit. Would we recommend definitely.

The food was really good unfortunately the experience was let down by service. We sat in the restaurant and we could hear everything going on in the kitchen, not normally a problem but in this instance the waiting staff were being told to go and take orders, we'd been waiting 15 minutes in an empty pub! Then to add insult to injury we could hear a male belching loudly from the kitchen. This put us off the food that was delivered.... in short we have been here before and came back because we had a good meal, whether or not new staff or just a one off we would need to seriously consider if we return. Sorry as a big fan of supporting local pubs & businesses it goes against the grain but these days money is too hard earned not to say something!
