The best restaurants in Westerleigh South Gloucestershire South West

We went for late lunch and were told we didn't have a booking even though I had an email and a text message. The person behind the bar looked very fed up that we had turned up even though there was only four other people in the restaurant. She just stood staring at us! I said can we be served and was met with a fed up expression and told we'd have to hurry up an order Sunday roast even though she didn't know what we wanted and they weren't closing until late evening. I asked for a drinks menu and she said there wasn't one so I asked how I was supposed to know what drinks they serve and what prices? She said I would have to look in the fridge and she would have to tap it into the till to find out the price. We were made to feel very unwelcome. No hello, no smiles, nothing. Just made to feel like an inconvenience. Terrible customer service. The food was okay. Our first visit this year and we will not be back.

Now called ACORN WESTERLEIGH. Namek and Richard have done a great job with completely changing this establishment. Now an Italian restaurant open from 0830 - 230pm and 5-10pm in the evenings with a great menu! A must try for everyone!

We went for sunday lunch, Amazing a real traditional Sunday lunch, great choice of meats, vegetables cooked properly, not a soggy mess, couldn't praise enough, a must try.

Had a lovely roast dinner at this pub, would highly recommend. Special mention to my waitress Beth! She was lovely and made sure we had everything we wanted!

Christmas lunch was amazing, food was hot and full of flavour. My parents live abroad and always want to visit here when they come over. Staff are friendly and attentive, it’s such a cosy warm and relaxing environment, outstanding service and food as it has every time I’ve visited!

This is not my first time at this restaurant, in fact I had always recommended the food as it is delicious, it still is! The younger waiting staff are attentive and polite. This is the first time ive visited in the last decade, where i felt unwelcome. As the guest, and not the organiser, I was advised the time was wrong and alleged i was half hour late (i was the first person there in my group of 12, ahead of the agreed time), and the manager denied a conversation had occured when timings were changed and reconfirmed, as stated I'm not the organiser so my friend when she arrived was scorned publicly at our table and was left embarrassed and the staff just reiterated their pace when it came to ushering past, serving guests, and taking orders. When I was invited to sit, my friends came along shortly to time but a couple of my pals were running late and I accepted we had a n allocated time. But we were met with a few reminders (2 different staff), advising my group that we had to start ordering and needed the table back by a set time. We all ordered at different times but the food came out together as some had starters so that worked out fine. The food was excellent and enjoyed, it was tasty and hot when served; we were offered desserts and coffees, again no issue with serving - albeit 20 mins from the time we were due to be evicted. I asked for my coat and the bar staff requested a young server collect all the tables coats as we are due to leave. I chuckled about the comment made and the staff asked why I was laughing, so I said- wow you're like the third person to remind me personally that I need to leave by said time tonight, I get it. You haven't got to keep overstating, I know we've got to leave. He looked confused and offended - I concluded the repetitive comments about timings rushing orders and general haste put a dampener on the evening and I wouldnt choose to book here for my events - which saddens me as ive celebrated many occasions with friends and family over the years without issue. As said, this is the first time I've felt uncomfortable while eating here, and I drove home feeling unhappy with the experience. I hope the management team recognise their customers are supportive and enjoy their menu, but perhaps some staff including management need a refresh/ to be educated about manners and customer care.
