We came for Sunday Lunch. The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. The staff were all very friendly and looked after us very well. The meat was plentiful and the vegetables well cooked. Pudding was delicious!

We visited The Swan for a celebration meal as it had been our Golden Wedding with family a few days before and we wanted a quite meal with just to two of us. We had been meaning to try this pub as it had been recommended to us and we are both so glad we did. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, especially 'Immy' who was the waitress that looked after us. She made us feel really special!!! Not forgetting the food which was absolutely fabulous. Will definitely be going back, thanks Immy!!

Two visits in two weeks to this very lively and vibrant Pub which is situated in the country away from built up areas. Visited with two other couples on different days and had a very friendly and enjoyable experience. The menu is very varied and had changed on the second visit to even more popular and unique dishes. Visit 1. I had the excellent gammon with all the extras. Visit 2. Had the pie of the day, Lamb and Red wine, what a combination of different tastes, absolutely delicious. The young Staff are a bit unsure of some wines and dishes but ask the more experienced Staff which is fine by me. Well deserved 5 stars on food and service.

Been meaning to try the Swan for ages and now wish I did it sooner. A great menu with beautiful food, great staff, lovely warm welcoming pub. Will be back very soon for definite.

Chose pub at random for a group of 15 people for lunch today. Because of size of group expected relatively slow service between courses but nothing like it. Speed of service was excellent. We had our first course within minutes of sitting at the table and that's how it continued. Staff were efficient and friendly and the quality of the food for the cost was very good. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Excellent service as always but the Sunday roast is the stand out …. Son has 3 meats , me lamb and wife pork. All really nice - great portions, tasty with the best gravy . Can’t wait wait for next visit

Unplanned visit on a Tuesday lunchtime. We were greeted very warmly and even though they were busy and expecting to be much busier very soon because of bookings, we were not made to feel awkward. We were found a table and advised that there may be a wait for food because of the bookings due to arrive. The service was prompt, friendly, unfussy and engaging making us feel very welcome and our expectations exceeded. We opted to just have sandwiches in the end despite the menu looking terrific, purely as it was intended to be a quick snack. I think the terrific taste, quality and presentation of a ‘simple’ sandwich told us everything we needed to know about The Swan Inn. They clearly care very much about what they’re doing. Now planning & looking forward to our next visit.

Visited for a family meal. Service was great with friendly and attentive staff. The food was fabulous. The butternut squash and goats cheese risotto was really good and the in-laws both agreed their steaks were the best they'd had in a long time. The pub is really lovely inside.

Absolutely awesome experience - never had to wait for a drink, friendly and welcoming staff, food was absolutely spot on - the fish and chips was cooked to perfection with a perfect batter. Cocktail night: made us two drinks that were absolutely spot on. Really cannot fault the service and quality, 5 star service and food. Love this plaice (even though it was cod). Highly recommended for a great Friday night fish supper and a few drinks.

Christmas meal, very good last year but completely different this year unfortunately Had 3 courses but none were very good, compared to last year where all was perfect. Not really sure why the change in quality. Not very Christmassy inside and bit of a weird atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend now

We've visited a couple if times recently with my parents. We've all had a great time. Beer is good, food is high quality with generous portions and the service is great.

Fantastic service and excellent food, we all met here for a family get together and the whole experience was terrific. Thank you to all the staff for making it a great visit. The roasts are superb, beautifully cooked meat with a selection of seasonal veg and topped off with delicious gravy. We’ll definitely be returning.

We had a lovely roast at the Swan, the beef was cooked perfectly medium rare, the vegetables were al dente and the gravy was good. Only criticism was the roast potatoes were slightly undercooked. Service was great and drinks and desserts were lovely. We've tried pretty much every other pub in Yate and Sodbury for a good roast and the Swan is the best!

Our friends recommended the Swan and although it is quite a distance from where we live in South Bristol we thought we would give it a try for my 67th Birthday on Friday 25th August. Four of us made the journey across town to the Swan. First impressions were good, the Swan has a warm and welcoming feel. We were promptly seated at a nice table and studied the menu whilst having our first drink. The menu is quite extensive considering that a lot of places appear to have a vastly reduced menu selection nowadays, so the choices at the Swan was a refreshing change with something for everyone. Two of us had Pork Chop, one had Fish and Chips and the other Lasagne, all were well presented and were thoroughly enjoyed. ( one constructive comment we would make is that the sauce accompanying the Pork Chop was poured over prior to delivering to the table, we believe it would be much better if the sauce was served in a separate jug, thus allowing the customer to decide how much or how little they preferred) This did not detract from the quality of the food however😀 The young guy named Tyler who served us during our lunch was most impressive. He was polite, attentive, nothing was too much trouble for him and he joined in on a little banter we had. He really is an attribute to the Swan, we understand Tyler is quite new to front of house duties but he coped very well, we wish him all the best for the future! In summary, we had a lovely lunch, some nice wine, the girls enjoyed their puddings and Richard and I enjoyed a glass of celebratory brandy with our coffee! All in all the Swan did not disappoint. Warm and welcoming, clean, good menu and fair pricing, what’s not to like? Well done the team at the Swan. Andy,Jane, Richard and Belinda.

The staff were friendly and helpful with the young children. The range of pub food options was good and when it came it was definitely good to eat.

After a disappointing time in March (celebrating a birthday) due to poor table positioning and very slow service, which we addressed with the management, we decided to come back and try again. This time, we had a much better table and our anniversary meal appeared to be going off without a hitch. However, after 45 minutes, with no word from the staff about delays, we were still waiting for our food. We were then told it would be three minutes (or drinks would be deleted from our bill) but another ten minutes passed by before our food arrived. We cannot fault the food: the steak was excellent according to my husband and my sweet potato burger was also very good. Waiting that long for food though is not acceptable whether there is a new/junior chef or not and this should have been communicated at the offset. On receiving the bill, the drinks hadn’t been deleted as a good will gesture and we were left with the dilemma of whether to leave a tip. If based on service, we wouldn’t have but our waitress, who we communicated our delays too, was in agreement that we shouldn’t have had to wait that long. We still paid the full bill and left a tip for the waitress; however, we won’t be returning which is a shame considering the quality food.

Patient, pleasant service. Happy for us to dither a bit and be a bit slower to order etc 😀 Every plate that came out was delicious. The food was over and above what we expected. Interesting and well cooked dishes. Much better than the usual pub fare. We are already planning a return trip.

Work leaving do we came at Xmas too, we had a wonderful evening the food was excellent and the service was great. Rare you get food and you are completely satisfied. We had a variety from the menu Bream, steak, pie duck and everyone was more than happy. Personally I had the rump steak which was extremely good quality. Staff friendly and helpful too. Had dinner and Sunday lunch here lots of times and it is usually lovely. This was our first visit post lockdown which was disappointing.No issues with covid -19 precautions, all felt safe and thought through.All 3 of us had roast dinner which has changed since our last visit.The meat was lovely as ever and portion sizes were large.The issue arose with the roast potatoes and parsnips. They were very pale in colour and when cut into and eaten were hard in the middle. Raised the issue of the potatoes (hadn't tried parsnips yet) with a member of staff who apologised and took the potatoes from all three meals back. A few minutes later we were presented with 4 roast potatoes in a bowl these looked identical they were very pale and barely cooked. Suffice to say they were not eaten and remained on the table. Usually the roast potatoes are good, nice and crispy as well as cooked!The Yorkshire puddings looked and tasted like shop bought frozen ones nothing like the ones that were supplied pre lockdown.Didn't see many members of staff so weren't able to order another round of drinks.Flagged down a member of staff for the bill who asked how the meal was, he stated would pass on the feedback and apologised. He dealt with it in a professional manner.Now left in a quandary do we risk £50+ on the possibility of another sub standard roast dinner from here or find somewhere else?????

Came here on the 5th September at 17:15 it was the first time for me and my partner here and we couldn’t fault it. We had two sirloin steaks and it was amazing, the service amazing also. Will definitely be coming back soon

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD in a retaurant/pub. A Manager who should not be a manager.Attitude regarding condiments... I know. I still cannot believe it myself. A waitress who literally threw the bill at our table.Over charged on our bill but due to the attitude of the staff and manager at the end of the meal (not ever seen this previously on visits to The Swan) and the humilaition we were made to feel in front of other customers we HAD TO LEAVE. quickly.I recommended this place to my family for the meal today.I asked for a quiet word with the manager to explain the issues that I had, but was RUDELY interrupted. Manager on duty!!! I have no words.we love (loved) this place until today. We will NEVER return!!!A simple apology would have gone a long way however a very confrontational situation occurred with the Manager literally arguing, shifting at me and saying I was wrong. Very INAPPROPRIATE to which I felt the only way to end this was to leave. I did. 4 occasions throughout the meal by 2 different employees (1 being the manager) were rude. My Aunties birthday lunch has turned into a very terrible time and we couldn't wait to leave. A small misunderstanding about cutting a Birthday cake has been ruined. An experience which it shouldn't have happened.A real shame, as I said before we loved the Swan. But no more.

This was our first trip to a pub for a meal since lockdown. The staff greeted us, explained the new Covid rules to us and showed us to our table. It was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the food was excellent. We were not rushed in any way and all three of us loved our meal and will certainly go back. Congratulations to all staff at the Swan for a very enjoyable experience.

We ate last night with friends. Upon arrival we were greeted, shown to our table & a lovely lady came over & explained all about Covid procedures put in place. We felt relaxed & she was so welcoming. The food was outstanding, we all had excellent food, & great service! Thankyou

Myself and my husband had lunch at The Swan yesterday, this was our first pub meal since the Lockdown and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived and immediately noted the clear signage of the guidance and how to proceed if you are anxious about going out, this should immediately calm you. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff who showed us to our table and explained that we could have a disposable menu or view online. She was kind and efficient as was the other member of staff who was working. I ordered a ham and cheese ploughman's and my husband had a goats cheese ciabatta. The food came promptly and was absolutely delicious. I always order a ploughman's if there is one on the menu and this is absolutely one of the best I had. We were full from one course so didn't have puddings.On another note, whilst we were there two women arrived and expected to be seated in the garden. They were very rude and both members of staff were endlessly polite and calm and I was so impressed as I was getting annoyed with them just from overhearing! All in all you can see just how much time and effort all the staff have put into the re-opening and making it safe for everyone. With such excellent food and service we will absolutely be back very soon.

Not my favourite visit last night. The service was wonderful but the food not so ideal. My sister and brother in law enjoy their meals but my prime beef burger was very over cooked and had become very dry and my partner's veggies burgers was lacking in taste and seemed under cooked and mushy, both of which we only ate a third. They did kindly come and ask if our food was okay but we both hadn't started on the burgers yet. We did mention at the end of the meal that there were a couple of issues so the kitchen could be informed. Will definitely be giving the burgers a miss in the future.

We had a lovely Post lockdown meal, staff were so afficient and friendly, we all felt safe and well looked after, can be nerve racking going with children, But we felt completely at ease. Steak deal £25 for 2 amazing rump steaks, and an extra £10 for a bottle of delightful malbec. You cant go wrong!! Thank you The Swan at Nibley.

I visited today with my daughter and grandson for a much awaited Sunday lunch out, as normal it was amazing , the tables have been well spaced and you can see every possible precaution has been taken to keep customers and staff safe, I did imagine this would be the case but was still a little apprehensive , fears unfounded , we all felt perfectly safe and the food was still 1st rate and not a restricted menu as I imagined , well worth the wait

Came here for Sunday dinner to celebrate my birthday. Service was very good, polite and friendly waiting staff.Best roast dinner I have had anywhere, meat was cooked to perfection. Vegetables nice and portion size good. The only downside was when we asked to use disabled toilet (my mum is in a wheelchair) we were told there wasn't one. We had to leave quickly and bundle mum in to the car to get her somewhere she could use the toilet.This meant we couldn't come back another time which is a shame.

Booked the day before on a wet weekend so expecting it to be busy. Booking easy and friendly. On arriving greeted promptly and shown to good table for 3 adults, 1 child and a highchair for a one- year old. Very good choice of roasts and regular menu and an excellent kids menu including kids roast. We had roasts, one kids roast and a pasta meal. All were served piping hot. Great sized portions and all tasted home made. One of the best Sunday roasts (if not THE best) we have had. Attentive and super friendly service from Amelia, who made us all very welcome. Myself and my partner visited last Wednesday for a spot of lunch, seeing that they had a lunch time deal I went for the three courses for £17. We got into the establishment, they were very busy but managed to squeeze us into a lovely quiet area. The staff were very attentive, they had my favourite gin on offer along with my partners favourite cider! The food was amazing, all well cooked and it tasted great... We were very impressed and will definitely be back

Comfortable, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Food choice good enough for all 4 of us to have something different. The lamb shank and sea bass highly recommended, not just for the main ingredient but the accompanying vegetables were really tasty. Roomy layout so not too noisy. We realised too late that it was BYO night but the Zinfandel suited all of us. Good choice of desserts and all courses beautifully presented. This is one of my favourite local eating places. I joined 7 friends for a Christmas meal and it was excellent, and well-timed.

A great Friday night meal with beautifully cooked food and a great atmosphere. Me and my husband were lucky enough to get a last minute table not realising they now serve food until 9.30pm. I ordered the sea bass and my husband had a rump steak with chips and blue cheese sauce. Both meals were delicious, very well cooked and very tasty. I took full advantage of the fizz Friday offer with my meal and had 2 glasses of Prosecco for £6. We will definitely be returning soon!

It was New Years Eve and we had our last remaining seasonal house guest with us. Being restricted as to the selection of cuisine, in which to suit our guest, The Swan at Nibley popped into our heads. It is a place where reputation would suggest that we could get quality British cuisine at a reasonable price.We had booked the day before, so the only tables available were either quite early or very late in the evening, thus it was that we reserved a table for 18:15. We arrived a bit early but we were shown straight to our table and provided with drinks. I was driving so it was iced sky juice for me, my partner had a fairly ordinary Spanish Sauv Blanc, and our guest had a fresh orange juice.The menu featured nibbles, starters, salads, snacks and mains including traditional dishes, pub favourites, burgers and steaks, plus a ‘specials’ menu. We all chose from the standard menu, with both my partner and guest both snubbing starters and ordering the ‘pie of the day’: chicken, bacon and leek (one with the standard mash and one with chips). I chose the lamb koftas to start followed by the lamb shank with mash and fresh sautéed green vegetables.The koftas were excellent: two generously sized koftas for a starter. Good minced lamb with herbs, dressed with fresh leaves, sat on a side salad of finely chopped pepper, onion and tomato, accompanied by a yoghurt and mint dip. The koftas were served piping hot, they were firm but tender, moist but not greasy, and had that slightly charred flavour; so reminiscent of Greek grilled foods, especially so with the yoghurt.The pies looked good and were again generously portioned and were served plated with the mash / chips (both in substantial portions). The pies were good and hot and dressed with a few fresh pea shoots – a nice touch. The veg which had a good bite to it, was served in a separate dish and included cabbage, calabrese and carrots was hot. The pie had adequate sauce but there was a large jug of extra gravy provided, but it was beef gravy! A bit odd really, surely chicken gravy would have been more appropriate? Don’t get me wrong, the beef gravy was really good, excellent depth of flavour but, for me, it just did not match the chicken pie.My lamb shank was sumptuous, exquisite, and slowly cooked for many hours I would guess, with the result being tasty and tender meat, that came away from the bleached bone so easily. There was a lot of green veg with Hollandaise sauce, plated with the shank plus a generous portion of roasted garlic mash. A jug of excellent lamb redcurrant and red wine jus / gravy was only improved by requesting some mint sauce (which IMHO should have been brought as standard with the meal). The plate presentation was good, but it was missing the colour, taste and texture of carrots. Fortunately, the veg provided with the pies had plenty of carrots, and I was invited to share, so I helped myself.We all felt well-fed at the end of our meals, and I, like my partner, certainly could not entertain the idea of a dessert, besides unless it’s a fruit pie or crumble with custard I am rarely interested. Our guest found enough room for a raspberry and white chocolate meringue roulade which was apparently very good.A word about the service and staff. We were efficiently served for the majority of our visit and our waitress was very pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Food was brought quickly and presentation was good. The only criticism I would have was that the waiting staff were based around and behind the bar in the middle of the two dining areas and, for me, they failed to look around and see, or anticipate, patrons needs. Our table had been cleared efficiently and we had decline a digestif and hot drinks, so it was obvious to us, at least more than it was to our waitress, that we would need our bill. We sat and trained our eyes on the staff behind that bar for a full 5 minutes and not one of the staff looked our way. Eventually I went to the bar and asked for our bill, which we paid, leaving a good tip. I do wish that waiting staff would just occasionally glance around all tables in anticipation of patrons needs, after all if we had changed our minds and ordered coffee and cognac all round, that would have been an extra £20 revenue that the pub would have lost through impatience.

We went here as a party of six for a pre Christmas meal and catchup. Having visited this pub on numerous occasions in the past I was looking forward to a really nice meal. The pub was unusually quiet for a Sunday but thought this would be to our advantage. However it came to pass that the menu was very limited with several dishes not available as they had run out. There were no specials as it was a Xmas menu but that had to be pre ordered when booking which we hadn't been told. 2 of the party ordered pie of the day, I asked for pie also but only 2 portions left so I was offered a steak and pea pie ! My hubby ordered lamb shank.I can only describe mine and my husband's food as dissapointing, my pie was pea with gravy I found no meat whatsoever. My husband's lamb shank was mildly warm as though it had been microwaved but no long enough. Won't be returning if this is the type of food now being served.

First Christmas day family lunch here, and it won't be our last. Delicious food served at the correct temperatures in good sized portions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent all round experience. Highly recommended.

Usually excellent food. Sorry to say the last 2 times not so good.Fish & chips, no tomatoes or cucumber with the salad and small portion.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch @ 13.00 back in August we were advised the table was available until 14:30 all arrived on time our but order was not took until 13.13

Belly pork with black pudding and chorizo fritter. Real trencherman fare! Looked after by the lovely Jenna, who always makes sure we're well fed and watered!

All I can say is eat your Sunday lunch, starter, mains and pudding QUICK as you only have one and a half hours!!! No time for coffee or more drinks, Asked to move after going over my one and half!,,
