The Black Sheep in South Gloucestershire

My scampi and chips was ridiculously small! I honestly thought it was a childs portion. There were only 5 pieces of scampi for £13. Very disappointed. Staff were friendly and helpful although the manager started closing up without calling last orders.

How can you justify £4.20 for a cup of coffee, and £3.50 for a teabag. Extortionate.

The Black Sheep pub linked to The Lodge Bristol only offer pizza for an evening meal option which I assumed meant they do pizza well. Not in my experience. The Buffalo mozzarella, parmesan and fresh basil pizza was served completely swimming in a crazy amount of cheese. Overloaded and extremely salty. The dough was OK in the centre but stale and hard on the crust. A disappointing experience. After advising the manager (Carlos) I was offered a replacement or refund. No issues, dealt with very professionally and to my complete satisfaction.

Visited Sunday 11th August at 10.15 am, ordered cappucino and sat outside. After a twenty minute wait for my coffee to come to my table, I went inside to inquire whether I had been forgotten and was spoken to in a very arrogant manner by an older blonde server who I believe was the manageress on this shift. Coffee came shortly afterwards delivered by a very polite young server, however the coffee was not hot. Decided to leave it give it up as a bad job and went to the Interchange and had coffee instead. Service and coffee there was good as usual.

Lovely friendly service nice mug of tea but was charged 3.50 for one mug ,very expense for just a mug of tea ,won't be going back which is a shame as use regularly but price increase from 2.25 to 3.50 feel that's toooooo much

Staff are so lovely but unfortunately the prices are ridiculous. 2 (pre packed and brought in) sandwiches and 2 soft drinks over £17!! I always try to support local but when you compare this to a tesco meal deal, it’s insane.

We are regulars at the Black Sheep coming here for over 10 years as our favourite coffee shop in this area. Along with the other regulars we were disappointed at the high price increases to the drinks. The Black Sheep shouldn’t just rely on passing trade from hotel customers, your regulars are important to your business too. This is a great venue and the staff are brilliant.

Limited range of beer, soft drinks from bottles or cans. Helpful staff and nice seating outside (inside is good too, but the weather was nice).

Convenient place to meet. Reasonable coffee.

A regular stop for me as a meeting place. Coffee is first class. Food options a bit pricey to my mind. Free 2 hour parking. Staff are always very friendly. Highly recommend.

Popped in for breakfast as staying nearby. Really friendly service. The kids absolutely loved their babycinos and I devoured my bacon bap.

We had breakfast here as part of our hotel package. It was delicious, the bread in particular was really tasty, we commented on it to the staff. The lady who served us on Sunday morning was lovely and seemed to enjoy her job.

Nice food, ruined by terrible service. We walked in, and waited 5 minutes for the staff to acknowledge us (which should have been a warning sign). I asked for two cakes and a hot drink. I was given the cakes, and then waited 10 minutes, and for the people to be served behind me, and their hot drinks made first, and then corrected, as they were given the wrong drinks, then I was asked if I needed serving. I told them I was waiting for the mocha I ordered. They then asked if I wanted a big or small one... 5 minutes later, they threw a small paper cup mocha at me....No apology for taking 15 minutes and making everyone else drinks first, didn't even upgrade it to a large for the inconvenience of keeping me waiting for 15 minutes whilst they served literally everyone else their drinks... Or put it in a ceramic cup... Just threw a paper cup at me. Disgusting service. I was hoping I could go back as it's relatively local to me... But absolutely not.

Great start to our uk tour. Met up with two mates on way tut the north . Seven o’clock open we were there eight for coffee and pastry’s. Made the staff work for their money ,asked loads silly questions got them to take our photo and check it was ok . Grub and coffee reasonable price and flavor, just shame tea wasn’t a pot of only a mug of, prob just to keep people moving not staying there whole day . Good location good opening times good atmosphere

Staff and service lovely. Had the chili prawns which were very spicy atleast a medium. The fajita veg and guacamole medium spice,had to ask for yoghurt as it didn't come with creme fresh but with siracha mayo.Houmous starter ok.Fish Butty could have s thiner and crisper batter.Apple tart and ice cream inedible and ice cream tasted like milky ice no flavour. Wouldn't go back.

I went for dinner today and I was the difficult customer not meaning to be on purpose but because of very strict new dietary requirements, I spoke to the cook and he was absolutely amazing trying to suggest different things in the end we come to agreement, lovely man very understaning and goes all out for his customers, the food was very nice, good drinks and lovely building, all other staff was very friendly and inviting.

Lovely coffee and smoothies. A nice treat after visiting BCRM. Staff very helpful and atmosphere relaxing. Online menu is not up to date. See photo…

Update . Having tried to go for coffees on 4 occasions now and every time finding the place closed I'm probably not going to bother going up again. I understand that it may be a quiet time of year but closing early just makes me feel like going somewhere that is open when it says it will be. Great little coffee shop, the coffee is really nice, the staff and atmosphere are good. It has a nice outside area at the front and back, perfect for when its warmer

Lunch and coffee, lovely location for a lunch meeting at aztec west.

Had a cracking little work lunch here, a BLT crossed with a Reuben, toasted with very decent bread....this was delicious and lovely, washed down with a pint of Aspalls cider which was unexpected to be on draught. Service was warm, friendly and quick. Will definitely return.

Turned up today...December 28th at 1pm for lunch to find the door closed even though website says they were open from 7am. Upon enquiring at the main aztec west Hotel Reception I was advised they won't open until 2nd January 2024. So a wasted disappointing trip.

Coffee bitter and froffy overpriced

My previous visit here was back in the late 90's when this was a real pub with beer and the like. So, a little disappointed to find it's now a Costa-clone, but that said, it's a perfectly adequate Costa-clone.

Very expensive. More for lodge visitors than general public. Just had a drink.

Lovely little coffee shop come restaurant, friendly staff and a nice chilled atmosphere. Had a decaf latte, sat outside in the autumn sunshine and enjoyed a half hour break from life

Not a cheap option for breakfast and don't expect a full English as it's mainly pre made toasted sandwiches and pastries. Staff were rushed off their feet so they struggled to provide the service which one would normally expect but you couldn't blame those present for those issues. Staff were friendly and helpful but I did feel for them. Starbucks coffee is not my favourite but that isn't the facility's fault so no marks are lost for that. Nice clean gardens at front and back and is a little bit of an oasis away from the roads and traffic. There is some parking available but that is also used for the hotel.

Brilliant little pub to visit serving drinks and snacks. Staff are very friendly & service was excellent, can order & drinks & they will bring it to your table. They accept blue light card if you would like a discount. Also dogs are allowed inside.

Visited recently as it was a coach pick up point for a 3 day trip to the Isle of Wight. We travelled there by car from Wellington in Somerset and were given a lift by our daughter and son-in-law for the drop off and pick up. Had tea and soft drinks whilst waiting and served by very helpful staff. Thank you.

Excellent place, great atmosphere, service & food

Very dyspointed, brekfest doesn't exists. You pay for a breakfast and all you get is bacon bap which you have to wait 20 min for.

The worst service I've ever had at the black sheep today. If I was the owner I'd let the 2 staff on today at 5.30 have customer retraining or just let them go. Just brought a party of 20 people in to be treated like we are causing them an inconvenience

A lovely little find, comfortable and far removed from some of the sterile coffee shops. Coffee was lovely, the bacon roll - 1st class and all served with a smile.

Great location and convenient parking with 2hrs free. Plenty of seating inside and out. Not a huge amount of choice for food but was pleasant enough. Will definitely return

Service was brilliant but have to say about the food very disappointed for the price of the food and the portion size you get is a let down.Food is very tasty it's shame we had the chicken burger but the chips came in a pot and literally there was about 6/8 chips would we eat here again no better value else where

Beautiful place and lovely friendly staff. However I think they are not giving good value for money when it comes to food. Both myself and daughter ordered a jacket potato with chilli. Whilst the chilli was delicious, there was hardly enough to call a filling. This was very disappointing. Would I recommend this place–yes, but I will not buy food again if it is their policy to scrimp on food; especially with the cost of living prices.

Great place in Bradley Stoke to pop in for a good coffee and not only. Quite alright to do some remote work as well

I love this little place. Hidden away on the industrial estate it's great as a coffee shop. I have heard its actually a pub but it seems more like a cafe to me. Lovely place

Nice place. Good prices but the pizza was not great at all. Maybe I choose the wrong one but tested like a frozen one. The prices are ok.

The setting is cozy and it's dog friendly but the hot chocolate was the worst I have ever tasted. It contained so much sugar / sweetener, it was undrinkable.

Excellent service, lovely helpful staff. Great that you can take your dog in after a walk. Only had cookie so can't comment on food although the cookie was good.

I’ve eaten here, far too many times. Meeting someone, the fruit fly infestation was still there on my last visit. Their menu is average and basic The hungry horse had a better selection

Great little pub coffee shop next to the Aztec Hotel. Lovely place in the summer you can sit outside in the garden area. For the winter it is cosy inside did not eat there but the food looked good

I have been queuing with an old couple front of me for nearly 15 minutes and no one was there, then suddenly one member of the staff popped to say they’re closed!! Saturday 7pm

I always love a visit to blacksheep

Nice, comfortable, relaxed vibe. A choice of takeaway snacks, sandwiches, cakes etc. We sat in and ate, ordered at counter and then order bought to table. Tasty snacks for lunch, reasonably priced.

Only reduced as very limited options when we got there although the chicken and leek pie was by far the best pie I have ever eaten. Service was great, will definitely be back

An oasis in the Aztec West Business Park. Personal service. I sat outside in the sunshine with my dog Dave and my coffee was brought to me. Dogs are just as welcome inside. There was a water barrel for dogs, but it was empty. I'm sure if I had asked, water would have been provided. Very friendly.

Nice little pub in Bristol a little out of the way, as near to my work offices when visiting the Bristol offices. However nice selection of drinks, friendly atmosphere and lovely decor.

Great place to meet, easy parking and free for 2 hours, always busy, plus nice outdoor seating front and back.

An early evening visit - the place was buzzing. This was a great prize donated to the West of England MS Therapy Brightwell Centre. Really good staff - even though he was on only his second day our server was really good. The King Prawn starters were possibly the best we've ever had! The rest of the meal was pretty good too! THANK YOU!

I popped in here with my daughter for lunch, as we had checked into the Aztec hotel next door for a spa weekend. Well, the customer service was poor, we felt as though we were being a hinderance when we asked if they were still serving food & then on telling us that they were still serving, we took a menu, only to be informed when we went back to order, that what we wanted had gone, on choosing a second & third meal, we were told again that, they didn’t have it! Wouldn’t it have been helpful if she had informed us beforehand what had gone, then we would not have wasted all of our times?! Unfortunately, we had booked in there for dinner also, as it was part of our hotel package. On returning that same evening, we are sorry to say that our experience wasn’t much better. The food was bland, customer service not much better than before, apart from one lady, of whom I wish now that I asked her name, because she was the only person who actually made us feel welcome. Thankfully, our meal in the hotel’s Curious Kitchen restaurant the following evening, more than made up for our unhappy experience.

Popped in after work thinking be nice to get a bite to eat. Place looked nice enough, not particularly busy as more of a cafe but said they were serving meals. Was provided with a menu and told to take a seat and would be over shortly to take my order. After 30 minutes waiting and trying to get some staff attention, still no response. Can't really comment on whether the food was any good as after a 30 minute went elsewhere.

Thank you to the amazing staff for allowing me to make pizza vegan. I would say it is a hidden gem in this area. Laptop friendly.

Love stopping here for a bite to eat on a walk around the local area, food is always top quality. Normal coffee and things served but also do a range of alcohol, including beer on tap!

Coffee tastes great but the young lady serving didn't speak, smile or engage at all. It seemed all too much trouble. My colleague and I thanked her and she totally ignored our attempt at engagement, not even making eye contact, so left feeling flatter than my flat white. You gotta love customer service in this country.

Firstly I'd like to say some of the reviews below are clearly nonsense about unfriendly staff as they are the best. I was here with a group of colleagues recently ( I was the Irish one lol ) and we were treated to a lovely meal with amazing service by all the girls. Their Chat, banter and service was top notch and we had a lovely time. Hopefully be back if I ever get back down from Edinburgh lol 😆

Is this place ever open...every time I try to come here its closed, it says open online so make the drive, get there and its closed 4 times now.

The Black Sheep has really improved in recent months and is now a really nice place to visit. It felt a bit more lively, had more atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the fact they now offer table service makes it a nicer experience. The coffees and snacks are good, it's just a shame the bar has gone and all that's available now are weird craft beers and ciders in bottles, for this the venue fails to score its maximum potential. The bottles just aren't great, are overpriced and pretentious.

Well haven't been here doe a few years and was really presently surprised. Staff are soo lovely and the menu for hot drinks is great ans prices are great too

A real compliment to the area, had a wonderful stay at the nearby hotel Lodge @ Bristol and helped myself and my husband to the complimentary breakfast. Was chatting with the manager I believe, had a wonderful conversation and felt very welcomed in. I enjoyed my stay, primarily due to this restaurant and will for sure be travelling down from London again to Bristol to visit. Many thanks!

Looks great, staff friendly, Prices high which match the ambience but…. Stale coffee from who knows where from. As a coffee lover I like to know where the coffee comes from, was it traded ethically? Was it roasted in the last month at least? If I can have those questions answered positively I may go back as the staff were lovely

What a difference a few months can make to a cafe. This as a stand alone cafe/coffee shop compares well with anything I've visited around Bristol. Coco-loca is superb, a must try smoothie. Keep up the good work!!

A lovely cosy pub/cafe hidden away. The food is so good, we had a selection of starters and couldnt fault any of it,.

An unwelcoming and an all-around average cafe with dry, mass-produced cake and a sterile atmosphere.
